As a secondary result, she has barely aged and still appears to be in her early 20’s. Hyper-Fertility: Bethany’s DNA is incomprehensibly complex and she is theoretically capable of producing viable offspring by combining her genetic material with that of almost any other living thing. Fighting Skills / Disciplines: none Other Skills: Doctoral degree in botany --- PERSONALITY Personality: Eccentric, willing to try any experiment based on so much as a hunch. Bethany is also a pansexual and an objektophile. Allegiances: Her beloved Oak and her daughter. --- HISTORY Bethany discovered her objektophilia at an early age. An old Valley Oak tree in her back yard was the object of her deepest love and affection. She spent every free moment in the branches of that tree, feeling as though its limbs were embracing her. More than a few times, she slept in the foliage. This love never faded, and inspired her to pursue a degree and career in botany. All through college, she made a trip home every weekend to see her tree. After graduation, she insisted on moving back in with her parents, despite having been accepted to a prestigious and well paying job straight out of school. The abnormality of her genes was not discovered until she decided to donate blood after an Earthquake left many local people injured. She was forbidden to donate blood, as the results of her initial test were incomprehensible, but this left her wondering. Her natural tendency to run with the slightest hunch came into play, and she took an acorn from her tree and placed in a small incubator filled with her own blood and rich soil. Readings showed growth in the acorn which intrigued and encouraged Bethany, and within a week, the acorn had absorbed significant amounts of the blood in the incubator. Several months after that, and the acorn hatched like a tiny wooden egg. Inside was a person. A tiny woman, with skinny limbs, like a shrunken adult, not like a human baby at all. Overcome with emotion, Bethany introduced the tiny person to the tree as their daughter, and did her best to raise the child, quickly discovering that she had to be cared for like a plant. Obtaining a birth certificate for the child required a handful of lies and plenty of legal hoops, but eventually Olivia Oak, daughter of Bethany Bartram and Odessa Oak was a legally recognized person. Olivia was homeschooled by Bethany and her parents, and showed much aptitude at the sciences and much less at social arts. |
