NAME: Olivia Oak ALIASES: --- PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Species: Metaplant Gender: Hermaphroditic; appears Female Age: 16 Height: 5’8” Weight: 220 pounds Ethnicity: Oak (Quercus lobata) Appearance: ![]() Olivia appears deceptively thin. Fit, with defined muscles, but not large. However, were one to cut into her, she would be solid wood within. Exceptionally dense wood, at that. Her hair is deep brown and has a tendency to grow leaves. On occasion, she bleaches her hair, as the chemicals slow the growth of leaves, helping her fit in easier. Unfortunately it is not as effective at keeping bees from making out with her hair. --- POWERS AND SKILLS Powers: Barkskin: Olivia’s epidermis looks like a normal human being, but the lower levels of her skin are like a tough Oak bark, making her highly resistant to anything deeper than a flesh wound. Photosynthesis: Olivia requires nothing more than sunlight and water to survive, though other nutrients are not unwelcome. Water can absorbed through any part of her body. Regrowth: Olivia grows much like a tree, though significantly faster. Lost or damaged limbs or extremities can be regrown in under a day. Flesh wounds heal in minutes. Floral Language: Olivia is capable of communicating with plants via a form of flora-specific pheromones, as well as verbal language that people understand. Pollinating insects such as bees also tend to land on her. Ironwood Muscles: Olivia’s wooden musculature lends her incredible strength. She can easily break brick or concrete with a single blow. Power Weaknesses or Limitations: Olivia tends to stand out. She requires dramatically more water than a normal person, and sometimes eats dirt. Power Source: Internal Fighting Skills / Disciplines: None Other Skills: Natural aptitude for math and science. --- PERSONALITY Personality: Calm. Olivia is often content to stand in one place for extended periods of time and take in her surroundings with all her senses. If she can stand in water, even better. She has been reprimanded multiple times for standing in public fountains. Psychological Weaknesses: Olivia is exceptionally poor at small talk and generally has trouble making friends with human beings. Goals: Life. Allegiances: Her parents. --- HISTORY Olivia’s parents were an odd mix. Odessa Oak and Bethany Bartram, a valley oak tree and an eccentric metahuman botanist. An acorn, incubated in the botanist’s abnormal blood, hatched like a tiny wooden egg into an oddly proportioned tiny girl. Olivia imprinted on the tree as her mother and the botanist as her father. Olivia’s very female daddy did her best to homeschool Olivia, and the only thing Olivia had any trouble with was social interaction. On trips to the playground, she would tend to bury her feet in the sand and just stand there. When other children approached, she simply stared at them or smelled them. Not that most of the children were eager to approach the girl with twenty bees in her hair. Olivia had of course been taught from an early age to try to hide the fact that she was different, as most people hated and feared metahumans, and a half-metahuman, half-tree was not likely to get a better reception. While nobody can identify her on sight, her strange habits do have a tendency to make her stand out. Two months after her sixteenth birthday, Olivia completed her homeschooling program and passed the GED with minimal effort. Olivia possessed one thing that most trees do not. A desire to explore. Given that she also possessed the very un-tree-like feature of legs, she decided that, after about three thousand promises to her father that she would be careful, she would explore the world, starting with the valley. |
