Name:Mallory Crayne Aliases: Mal --- Human or Metahuman: Metahuman Gender: Female Age: 25 Height: 5'8" Weight: 112 lbs. Ethnicity: Caucasian Appearance: http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q700/Apl_J/RP/Playbackpack.jpg --- Powers: Telekinesis: Mal has the ability to move things with her mind. To move an object, Mal must either have direct eye contact with the object, or know without a doubt where the object is in relation to her own position. For example, she can telepathically pull a cup of coffee to her from across the room, or from another room if she knows exactly how far it is and where it is. Keeping with the coffee example, Mal has a degree of control over the object when moving it. When in visual range, she has near complete control and wouldn't spill the coffee. If she were controlling the cup from far away or out of sight, its movement can become erratic, in which case she may spill it. Manipulating objects under 30kgs seems not to affect her, but larger objects or people do. Prolonged use of her powers or lifting something too heavy can result in headaches varying in intensity from annoying to debilitating. It also seems things Mal is familiar with is less taxing on her. While Mal can't lift something as heavy as a car, she could tip one over. Mal also has a limit to how strong her power is. She can fling a baseball across a field, but could only throw a person a few meters. She cannot bend steel or flay the skin from a man, but she can suspend a man in air and prevent him from moving. However, if that man were to struggle, she'd have a harder time keeping control. People with superhuman strength may even be able to break free, Manipulating multiple objects is even tougher. She's noted with practice that she can lift four full cups of water without spilling them. Objects that are in close proximity are also easier to control than multiple things scattered across a room. Mal doesn't "do" anything to activate this power. She simply thinks it, and the object moves. She doesn't need her hands, and can do other things such as carry a conversation or drive a car while using her power. --- Personality: Mal has often been described as ghostly; both in appearance and demeanor. Despite living in L.A., Mal is very pale. She wears her wavy hair untamed and almost always has the same, blank smile, whether she is pleased with you or insulting you. Even her sense of style stays in line with her whimsically twisted persona: she typically wears oversized blouses and shirts, a jacket, leggings/jeans, and boots/flats. Friends (though they can hardly be described as such) agree that Mal is a tough read. She's just as likely to stare off silently listening to music as she is to entertain a room full of strangers with stories and jokes. Her humor is sharp, witty, and unforgiving, exactly the type people love to hear until its directed at them. Mal has very few close contacts with whom she keeps up with, both because of her lifestyle and her personality. Camden seems to be the only person with whom she seems fond of, and even he suspects this may only be because of his particularly useful Powers. While her dealings with individuals may be abrasive, she still wants to help the metahuman population, albeit in her own way. History: Mallory was raised an only child in Seattle suburb. Mallory's family was never one of means; her father was a marginally successful author and her mother was a Secretary. Mallory and her mother weren't directly at odds with each other, but their lack of common interests kept them distant. On the other hand, Mallory adored her father, whose profession she thought was much more exciting than bookkeeping and answering phones. At 12, Mallory was already established as the bookish, introverted type. She was still sweet and quite happy with her life, until her father died suddenly. Grieving was to be expected of a daughter suddenly losing her beloved father, but ever since then, Mallory Crayne was never the sweet, timid girl again. During high school, it wasn't hard to keep most away. With her pale complexion and spacey smile, many referred to her as ghost-like. Those who did approach were victim to her scathing sarcasm. Ironically, that didn't do much to keep them away, as many found her hilarious. From the first day of Freshman year to Graduation day, not once was Mal friendly, but somehow came out of it with a few friends. In college, Mal found it much easier not to completely hate everyone. She opened up more and, with her signature straight-faced, dark sense of humor, found socializing to be quite nice. Though she began school with creative writing, Mallory slowly began to realize that speech is where she really shined. A professor persuaded her to join the University's Internet Radio* Station, and before long, she held her own time slot for a talkshow. After graduating, she immediately transitioned into a full-time career as an Internet Radio Personality. According to fans, Mal never had the same show twice. While other stations stuck to tight schedules and daily rituals, Mal practically ran her station for her show's allotted hour. One day, she'd simply play music and talk about new, fledgling musicians. The next day, she'd have that musician call or sit in for an interview. Being featured on her show was guaranteed to be huge exposure for underground and indie groups. Another day, she'd bring up current affairs, and take call-ins from listeners. Improvising her show came easy to her, and listeners loved her Lackadaisy style. What many liked about Mal was the fact that she never played nice with anyone. While her station execs begged her to be more amiable, Mal's sharp humor kept her (mostly) in her viewers' good graces. After receiving calls complaining of her abrasive personality, she got into a particularly nasty spat with her boss. Her boss was a big man, and when he moved toward her, Mal subconsciously perceived it as a threat. The football trophy on his desk flung itself at him, striking him in the temple and knocking him unconscious. Mal discovered she was a Metahuman at 25 years old, and was subsequently fired from her job. Word spread quickly that the West Coast's most famous radio personality was metahuman, which made finding work in the industry impossible. Realizing people (especially children and teenagers) were going through this and more, she decided to take action, and began broadcasting on her own. Aleph-Null Radio started on March 3rd, 2020, originally built up by Mal and her friend Camden O'Flannery. Now, ANR has a number of volunteers working to help inform metahumans and their sympathizers about day to day activity in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Mal herself was forced to disappear publicly; not long after she began broadcasting illegally did the FBI come to her home to shut her down. Currently, she is wanted for unlicensed radio broadcast, inciting riots, and a host of other crimes. |
