Name: Camden O'Flannery Aliases: --- Human or Metahuman: Metahuman Gender: Male Age: 21 Height: 5'8" Weight: 150lbs. Ethnicity: Irish Appearance: ![]() --- Powers: Vocal Suggestion: Camden has the ability to affect the mind through speech, which he can utilize in a variety of ways. First and foremost, this power makes persuasion significantly easier, though it isn't foolproof. When persuading someone to do something, Camden's success rate varies widely depending on what he wants them to do and how long he talks to the person. If Camden asked a man for twenty bucks, it’s rare that the man would refuse. However, if Camden asked that man to divorce his wife, give away his car, and burn down his house, its rare that the man would accept, unless Camden spoke to the man a few time a day for several days. The more someone doesn't want to do something, the harder it is to convince them to do it. However, Camden does have a bit more control over the subconscious. Instinctual concepts such as fear, anger, and danger are easier to ingrain into a person. Camden could easily start a riot, though he couldn't direct that riot through speech. Power Source: Always on. Camden usually can separate using his powers and normal speech, but not always. He doesn’t always know 100% whether he’s using his powers or not. Fighting Skills: Camden is an absolute beast at hitting his face against his opponent's fists. Other Skills: Camden knows about sound systems and radio equipment; the bare minimum to keep ANR running. Personality: Snarky, selfish. Natural entertainer, but not the best friend. Keeps people distant, unless he's taking advantage of them. Psychological Weakness: Self-serving, emotionally distant, grows angry and frustrated when not getting his way. Because his powers are always on, he has somewhat of a self-hatred, as it becomes difficult to form a real relationship. Goals: Success, safety, fun. Allegiances: Himself and, to a lesser extent, the radio station. --- History: Camden is a second-generation Irish and was born in San Fransisco, California. His parents owned a shoe store, though they couldn't exactly be described as wealthy. In fact, they were often losing money in their business. Camden was always a problem child; he didn't take much of anything seriously, and frequently hung out with the wrong crowd. At 17, he got into a fight with his father after being bailed out for breaking & entering. In an angst-filled rage, Camden shouted at his parents: "Get out of my life; I never want to see either of you again." The next morning, Camden awoke to find his house empty. At first, Camden figured his parents were trying to teach him a lesson. A week and an empty refrigerator later, Camden wasn't just scared; he was mortified. Camden raided his parent's stash of money to support himself, but by the end of that month, Camden's water was turned off. He only barely caught the electric company rep coming to turn off his power, but Camden begged him to stop. Miraculously, he did. The rep simply rose up, walked back to his truck, and drove off. Camden put two and two together and discovered his powers of vocal suggestion. An already delinquent Camden grew worse. At 17, he talked his way into whatever he wanted: bars, clubs, casinos, stores, and girls. At 18, Camden was living in a Luxury Hollywood apartment. By now, Camden was somewhat savvy to how things worked. He, at the very least, needed a cover job, and chose bartending, as his powers would come in handy. A few years passed, and Camden's thoughts returned frequently to his parents. He mellowed out, and began using his powers less and less (though that could be contributed to the rise in metahuman hate crimes). While entertainment was always number 1 in Camden's life, he frequently found himself wanting more. That's when he met Mallory Crane. Though he only knew her in name as an ex-radio personality, he found himself fond of her. After several bar-side conversations, Camden revealed to her his powers, and instantly the two became closer. Mallory revealed her plans to form a pirate radio broadcast, and that she would need his help if she were to succeed long term. He hastily agreed, wanting to do more with his life than cheat his way through it. Camden became Mallory's co-host for Aleph-Null Radio, and together the two aired their first broadcast not long after. Now, Camden uses his powers to elude the FBI and gather information about L.A. for ANR, such as info on anti-meta activity, pro-meta movements, and hate crimes. Edited by Bambi, Dec 6 2012, 06:53 PM.
