NAME: Nyssa Nekaise ALIASES: Necromanca --- PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Human or Metahuman: Metahuman Gender: Female Age: 17 Height: 5'6" Weight: 70 pounds (she's basically hollow, though her weight can vary dramatically based on the number of microbes living inside of her) Ethnicity: Caucasian Appearance: ![]() --- POWERS AND SKILLS Powers: -Necrokinesis: Nyssa has a fundamental control over many forms of microbes, and in the case of dead things, she can reanimate deceased remains by commanding the microbes that have inevitably begun to eat the deceased flesh. She can use the same powers to slow or stop the decay of dead flesh, and in some cases, bring dead flesh back to life. -Bacterial Absorption: Nyssa can heal rapidly from any injury by absorbing bacteria from anything around her and incorporating them into her body. -Super Strength: Microbes within Nyssa's body move with her, effectively increasing her strength. The degree of her strength varies depending on the number of microbes residing within her body at the time. -Disease Immunity: As a side effect of her relationship with microbes, Nyssa cannot become sick or poisoned. Power Weaknesses or Limitations: Nyssa cannot raise a years-old skeleton, as the amount of microbes that would still be living on it would be insufficient to properly hold the bones together and make them move. The strength of a reanimated body depends entirely on the amount of microscopic life living on it. Antibacterial sprays, soaps, etc, make Nyssa weaker. And while she can cure gangrene, her ability to revive dead flesh is limited. She cannot truly bring a dead person back to life. Power Source: Microscopic life forms. Fighting Skills / Disciplines: nothing official Other Skills: Biologist: Nyssa is well versed in microbiology (imagine that). Odorless: Despite what you might expect from someone containing up to ten times as much bacteria as a normal person, Nyssa never smells. --- PERSONALITY Personality: Friendly and inquisitive, though she often feels closer emotionally to her microbes than she does to people. Psychological Weaknesses: Mild phobia of "sanitary" places. Goals: none Allegiances: none --- HISTORY Microbes are in Nyssa's family history, and not in the same way that they're in everyone. Nyssa's father was an accomplished microbiologist, thought he was killed in a terrorist attack while working on a cure for a biological weapon agent while Nyssa's mother was still pregnant with her. Nyssa's mother was a doctor of internal medicine, and since money was tight after the death of her husband, she often took her young daughter to work, since she couldn't afford to take leave, but was not a believer in day care. Later, when life insurance payment cleared for Nyssa’s father, money was no longer an issue, but Nyssa still liked to come along to work whenever she didn’t have school. Nyssa learned about "germs" at a much younger age than most children, though she always seemed to fail to pick up on the whole "germs are gross" concept. For Nyssa's 8th birthday, she received a microscope from her mother. Not one of those cheap "science is fun" pieces of shit you buy for $15 and give your nephew. An honest to god microscope that had just been replaced at the Hospital. At one point Nyssa sneezed in a Petri dish and grew a culture. She would frequently watch the culture under her microscope and insist to her mother that the contents of the dish were her friends and that she talked to them. While Nyssa's mother could not deny that her daughter talked to a culture of mucus, she was somewhat concerned by her daughter's insistence that the culture also talked to her. Nyssa cried and fought when her mother threw away the Petri dish, like a child refusing to accept that their best friend was moving away. In her desire to keep the residents of her culture with her, she basically summoned them out of the dish and kept them with her. Once she knew her friends were safe, she quit fighting. Her close friendship with microscopic life continued her entire life, though once she got a little older, she learned to keep it to herself, as people usually think you're strange when you introduce them to your friend the slime mold. She took on a vaguely gothic demeanor in High school. She liked to hang around cemeteries, due to the high concentration of microbes living on the recently deceased. While communing with the population of a freshly buried soldier, she inadvertently reanimated his body. She panicked and ran away, leaving the freshly buried body now freshly unburied. As soon as she left, the bacteria quit animating the body and resumed eating it. That was a fun day for police. Evidence clearly showed that the man had dug out from his grave from inside, but had obviously been dead long before that. It was deemed an elaborate prank and the man was reburied. But Nyssa never forgot what she could do. Graduating with high honors from high school, she quickly moved on to college, choosing a biology major, much to absolutely nobody’s surprise. Shifting her personal style, Nyssa tattooed herself in full sleeves with the use of various colored microbes living in colonies in her dermis. Edited by Ashybuttons, Dec 7 2012, 10:50 AM.
