And one more for good measure

Kayo’s wardrobe can vary wildly. Due to her social standing back in Japan, Kayo is no stranger to the high life of fashion—or the stranger sides of Japanese fashion either. Whether it’s casual or dressy, Kayo probably has it in her wardrobe in one form or another. She’ll also do her hair in styles of either straight or wavy, depending on when she feels like it, or whenever she has to do one or the other for a concert or appearance.

POWERS AND SKILLS
Powers:

Solar Energy Generation: As long as Kayo is out in the sun, she is almost constantly taking in solar energy, though this is a process that is invisible to the human eye, and if she hadn’t even experienced her powers firsthand, Kayo wouldn’t believe that fact either. With enough solar energy stored up, Kayo is able to make great use of her powers, though she hasn’t even discovered the full range of what she can do with them yet, nor has she even reached the full strength of what she can do with her powers. Different things she can do with said stored solar energy such as creating an entire field of solar energy around her entire body (though she hasn’t discovered that particular ability yet) or, what she does know she can do with relative ease, is shoot beams or blasts of solar energy from different parts of her hands (though in reality, she’s only made use of this through her hands, due to practicality). The main things Kayo has so far been able to do reliably is shoot blasts of solar energy from her hands (which would work similar to any sort of energy blast) or create a field of solar energy around her that works in about a three foot radius around her body (though she has only done this once, and doing so drains her of just about all of her solar energy she has stored up).

Taiyou Bracelets: The Taiyou Bracelets are bracelets that have been passed down from the women in Kayo’s family on her mother’s side. The bracelets, though even Kayo’s grandmother doesn’t exactly know how they work, function to ensure that too much solar energy isn’t taken in by Kayo’s body as long as she wears them, as well as doing their best to prevent any solar energy from exploding out, provided she doesn’t have too much energy stocked up before putting them on.

Power Weaknesses or Limitations: Without any solar energy stored within her, Kayo essentially has no powers. Adding to that weakness, without the Taiyou bracelets, Kayo risks taking in too much solar energy without releasing it, which, if that happens (and Kayo hasn’t experienced such a thing yet) can cause the solar energy to explode out of her in a very violent manner, which would render Kayo with some rather harsh burns (not harsh enough for death, but definitely 3rd degree levels) as well as causing definite damage to anyone that would be within a five to ten foot radius, depending on how much extra solar energy Kayo has stocked up inside of her.
Power Source: The source of Kayo’s Metahuman abilities comes from solar energy.
Fighting Skills / Disciplines: No real fighting skills except for some stage fighting skills, and even that is at an incredibly basic level and wouldn’t even serve any use to her in a real fight in any manner.
Other Skills: Alongside being fluent in Japanese (her native language), Kayo is also very proficient in understanding and speaking English. Kayo is also a skilled singer and dancer, and a decently trained actress as well.

PERSONALITY

Personality: Kayo is definitely a girl that has a few different sides to her. To her fans and the public, Kayo is a bright and sunny girl, always aiming to please her fans through her music, acting, and public appearances she makes through interviews, television spots, and her concerts. However, when not in the public eye, she has the occasional diva/prima donna tendencies that any teenage girl thrust into fame and the limelight would experience.

Despite those tendencies (and even in a sense, in spite of those tendencies), Kayo does her best to be liked by others, and to hopefully be a better person as time goes on in her media career. She also cares strongly about her family as well, her parents meaning a lot to her for helping her out and to where she has gotten to in her life. Kayo also knows the importance of hard work in success and getting things done, always putting in her 100% all for everything she does in order to get things done.

As well as that, Kayo is also no stranger to the limelight, as would be quite obvious due to her being an idol. She’s charismatic as a speaker, and would definitely be considered a natural for show business. She’s no stranger to showing herself off, though she innately isn’t the promiscuous type (nor is she allowed to be), but it all in part adds to the carefree nature that she’s grown accustomed to being as an idol.

Kayo has also, due to discovering her powers, both became greatly curious about them and became responsible regarding them, not wanting to be discovered as a Metahuman or wanting to misuse her powers. Kayo does her best to show a sense of absolute, non-Metahuman normalcy to the public and her family as well, part of that due to being an untold/unwritten requirement of being an idol, and a small part of it due to Kayo wishing that she wasn’t a Metahuman at all, to avoid the trouble it has brought in recent times since discovering her powers.

Psychological Weaknesses: Kayo’s main fears are losing her family and her fans. By extension, she is afraid of ending up amounting to nothing in her career and losing her career as an idol and having nothing to fall back on. She’s also afraid of ending up alone once she becomes an adult, with the prospect of not falling into the safe norm of eventually becoming a wife and mother terrifying to her.
Goals: As cliché as it may sound, one of Kayo’s main goals as an idol (that she said in a recent interview) is to try and make a difference in someone’s life and to inspire someone to be the best that they can be. Though one of her other goals is to try and figure out how to better control her powers, as well as more behind their origin (if there’s anything else about them that she wasn’t told or that isn’t known about). Another goal of hers is to eventually, obviously once she’s older, to either manage an idol or idol group, or at the least help in the dance/singing training of a future idol/idol group.
Allegiances: To Kayo, her fans matter first and foremost above all else, even herself. Next it’s a mix between herself and her family and manager, putting either above the other as is needed.

HISTORY

Born on the Japanese holiday of Foundation Day, more specifically on February 11 in the year 2006, to parents Shuji Hayashi, a Japanese businessman, and Miyako Hayashi, a homemaker, Kayo’s rather superstitious mother took this as meaning that her daughter was meant for amazing things. Her father, though initially a bit displeased at the lack of a boy still, became a bit more accepting of his new daughter when he saw her and saw how happy she had made his wife. Her mother named her newborn daughter Kayo, the name meaning “Good generation”, which was exactly what her mother had in mind for her.

As a baby and young toddler, it was quite clear that Kayo was a clever girl. She started crawling at six months, and crawling with ease by seven months. By ten months, she was already picking herself up on the table that was in the living room of the family’s apartment and walking (although not with complete ease), and shortly after her first birthday, she was already well on her way to speaking her first words. This thrilled her parents, even more so her mother who had already been bragging to friends and family since her daughter’s birth about how amazing it was to have a daughter born on Foundation Day, this just gave her mother even more fuel with which to brag.

While growing up, her mother and father both discussed frequently how their daughter would be raised and how to best gear her for a good future. Although her father was a traditional Japanese businessman in every sense, he definitely saw a benefit in trying to aim his daughter towards the corporate world as she would inevitably get older, taking her early learning as a sign that she would be meant for this, though her mother was none too pleased about this idea. After arguing for a good while on the subject, the two finally decided to put the topic to rest, at least until Kayo was a teenager, if not older.
Shortly after she turned thirteen, Kayo’s parents already started to “gently” bombard her with questions of what she wanted to do when she was older and gently pushing opinions of what they thought she should do when she got older onto her too. Kayo, who at this point was a good student, not at the top of her class, but still a good/strong student, gave her honest answer to her parents. She wanted to be an idol, which was a definite surprise to both of her parents, partly in fact that what she said she wanted was something she would be doing within the next few years and wouldn’t even last her well into adulthood, and partly in fact that her father thought that was something that would’ve been beneath her considering how well she was doing in school.

Adamant with her choice of wanting to be an idol, her parents ultimately became accepting of it, with her mother pushing to get her vocal and dancing lessons, as well as different etiquette lessons to prepare her best for public speaking/appearances. Her parents figured that if they were going to go along with their daughter’s dream, they would go all out and make sure she reached it. So just around the time she was turning 14, they went out to Akihabara to one of the biggest idol theatres there in order to try and get their daughter an audition to be a part of the biggest idol group in Japan.

Much to the entire family’s dismay, Kayo had just missed getting into the group; another girl had managed to take it over her. Disappointed, and near to the point of crying over just missing her dream, things started to look up as a talent agent who had seen her audition came over to the family, told the family who he was and just who he had helped represent in the past number of years, and offered to help make Kayo one of the next big things in Japan. Although her father was definitely skeptical of this talent agent, both Kayo’s and his wife’s insistence on taking the chance, he did so, and the chance ended up being one worth taking.

Shortly before her fifteenth birthday, the Hayashi household started to get busier and busier. First was the whole fact that Kayo was now becoming a rather big name in Japan, busy with working on albums to release and the occasional television spot, and the second part was with Kayo’s grandmother (on her mother’s side) coming to now live with the family of three. It was also around this time that Kayo managed to discover her powers, though luckily on her own. After a rather long day out in Tokyo, Kayo came back to her room to collapse on her futon, as soon as her back hit the futon, a small blast of solar energy hit a lampshade, starting a small fire, which she put out as quickly as she could before any smell of fire or smoke could alert her parents.

Figuring out that she must’ve been one of the Metahumans that she had heard about in the news, she couldn’t help but be freaked out. Due to there being a strict set of guidelines on what is/isn’t allowed when it comes to being an idol, as well as just the general distaste for Metahumans around the world as a whole, Kayo decided to keep what she was a secret, not wanting to tell her parents and risk any turmoil within the household.
Weeks went on, and Kayo remained confused about her powers, barely knowing how they worked or even what caused them to work; all she had to go off of was news reports of different Metahuman teenagers getting into fatal accidents due to their powers in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and even Tokyo. It was an almost constant fear working everyday for Kayo, scared of accidentally revealing her powers to the public and not only being cast out as an idol and from her family as well.

Within early December of 2019, Kayo’s grandmother approached her granddaughter, noticing better than anyone else that something was definitely amiss with the girl. Kayo, at a complete loss and with no one to turn to, decided to trust her grandmother with her biggest secret about being a Metahuman. Surprisingly enough, not only was her grandmother completely understanding of her situation, but was a Metahuman herself, with the same powers.

Kayo was told by her grandmother about how the women in her bloodline, for a long ways back, far, far before Metahumans were even discovered by the public, had the powers that both of them had, with the exception of Kayo’s mother. Alongside that, her grandmother also had a family heirloom to give her. A pair of old metal bracelets, which had been passed down from generation to generation of Metahuman women in her family who had the very same powers as the two of them. The bracelet was designed to help keep the powers in check and make sure nothing bad would happen to her due to any power malfunctioning.

Kayo managed to live the next few months back peacefully, continuing happily on with her career as an idol, no longer worrying about her powers now that she had something to keep them in check. Despite this, Kayo wanted, or even if she didn’t exactly know it, needed a bit of a retreat from the idol business and Japan. In mid April, she announced her hiatus from the industry for personal reasons, and, with her parents’ permission and using the money that she had made from her career so far, decided to temporarily move to Los Angeles, California in the United States as a part of her retreat, arriving in the country on the 1st of May.
