Eden, known as the "Seat of the Sanctum", is the capital city of Cocoon. Named after its patron fal'Cie of the same name, it serves as the center of Cocoon's governing body, the Sanctum. At the city's core rises the monumental Edenhall, seat of the Sanctum's administration. The fal'Cie Eden dwells deep within the structure's interior. Eden floats in the sky high over Cocoon and thus can only be reached by airship or a railway connected to Palumpolum.

The Orphan's Cradle, also known as the Nascent Throne, is a world in a seemingly alternate dimension, accessible only by a cathedral-like room in the Sanctum building called Edenhall, which towers over the city of Eden. The fal'Cie Orphan sleeps within the Cradle. The fal'Cie Eden had created two portals inside the first chamber, one of which enables people to return outside to Edenhall, and another leads to the Vallis Media on Gran Pulse. There is a third portal that leads to the Narthex, but it is unable to be used until further into the Cradle. This has since been placed under high security lockdown by the Cocoon military. The Orphan's Cradle, in recent times, has received more attention due to the fact that the Cocoon Government is expanding operations into the Orphan's Cradle, including administrative operations.
