Castor, after having had a few drinks too many, returned to the Common Room. There was a pleasant buzz in his head, the sort that made him far more open to people in general. The party hadn't been a total bust, at least. Things had seemed to pick up for him as soon as he'd lost his dopey sidekick. Or whatever Atlas even was. Either way, his bed in the dorm would have normally been pretty enticing. A normal night would have had him reading by the light from his wand. Tonight he felt almost sociable. He went to collapse into the couch... only to have the piece of furniture yelp indignantly. His first thought was that he had managed to almost sit on someone who had transfigured into a chair. Cast's eyebrows furrowed as he turned to look. It took him a second of staring too long to realize there was a girl there. Familiar girl. Different from the one he'd told off earlier but still really similar. Castor slumped beside her, legs flopping over hers in a friendly manner. "Hello beautiful," Teased he, "You know you've got a scrawny doppelganger drinking in the Room of Requirement?" His head thudded pleasantly on one arm of the couch. Blearily, he stared at the ceiling. Focusing on something abstract, counting. Something to assure himself he wasn't that drunk. Edited by Castor Greengrass, Apr 13 2014, 11:51:06 AM.

There was some party happening, or something, in the Room of Requirement. Beck had returned, he was sure to be at the party shortly, likely with his guitar. Ryan smiled at the thought. Jason had asked her to go, he was going to invite Ree. The Ravenclaw had very little interest in it. Bigger parties were pretty terrifying for her. She either wouldn't drink, and stand in one spot nervously the whole night, or get plastered and make an idiot of herself. She had never gotten that drunk in her life.. but she had a feeling that's how it would go. An older boy came in, just as she was nodding off to sleep. She figured he'd been at the party, would probably stumble up to the dorm. The girl was too tired to really care. When he almost sat on her she woke up, jumped, suddenly awake, and made a noise to announce that she was there. The boy stared, for what seemed like forever. Too long. He was confused. Lis was probably back at the party. She rolled her eyes. If she wasn't tired she would have made some comment. The girl was not expecting him sit down near her, anyway.. or to have his long legs over top of her's. She felt her face burn up, and she attempted to pull her green skirt down past her knees. It was a nervous reaction, also a failed attempt to calm down. When he spoke, she sent him a sideways look. The girl had no clue how to react. The boy had been drinking. Maybe she should just sit back and relax, "Hello." She responded, quietly. She leaned back into the couch as he confirmed her earlier thought, "She's been around about as long as I have." Longer, actually. Now she could use a drink. She felt silly. Should she introduce herself? Usually, the girl had some buffer. If she couldn't run away from a situation talking directly to a guy she barely knew, Ree, or Jason.. Lis or even Beck usually could help her out. Now she was alone, and probably unable to move. Being social.. right. So... "My name is Ryan. Elliot." She added her last name as an afterthought; he might know her brother. Finally she actually looked at him, might as well, right? Somehow she managed a smile, and to actually ask the question that normally followed. It shouldn't have been so difficult to do, two very simple words... too bad she noticed how attractive he was first, "What's yours?" All confidence was practically thrown out the window, and after realizing she was now staring longer than she should, she tore her gaze away to.. somewhere in the general direction of in front of her, and tried to focus on steadying her heart. How in the world did she always manage to get involved in these situations? The Ravenclaw began to pray he was too drunk to notice the lingering look. Son of a.. Nervous little thing, wasn't she? "You should get that checked out," Suggested he, having made the connection that they were twins but preferring the evil doppelganger theory. He couldn't, for the life of him, remember how to get rid of one. Not that it was applicable. In this case, getting rid of the doppelganger would be actual murder although he was pretty certain there were cases of actual being killed in place of those who had copied them. "Doppelgangers are a pain in the ass." Cast spoke as though he had actually had to worry about such a thing, which he hadn't. She introduced herself. He knew an Elliot. Although he hadn't seen much of the Gryffindor this year. Not that he was making a point of searching the dude out. Castor propped his head up against the palms of his hands as it became apparent that she planned on not just walking away indignantly. A corner of his mouth curled into a smile as she quickly looked away from him. The waiver in her voice as she reciprocated the question was apparent even to him despite the stupor. His gaze remained on her now, the quiet intensity that was normally there was hazed over slightly. "Cast," No wait, were they doing full names? "Castor Greengrass." Not that his full name meant anything, except the blatant reminder that he was utterly without family. "Getting late," The guy murmured conversationally, "Care to help me up to my dorm?" It was difficult to resist teasing her, even if only to determine whether or not he had misinterpreted her quickly averting her own gaze. Cast didn't really expect his drunken proposition to work, of course. It was just a social experiment. No harm in asking. Edited by Castor Greengrass, Apr 13 2014, 03:18:49 PM.

Still stuck on the doppelgänger...she actually managed to laugh at his next comment. Oh no. What was happening? "Are they?" Lis had been less of a pain in the ass recently, when they were little.. Well, that was a different story. He'd noticed, the girl knew, feeling his eyes on her. This was probably the most uncomfortable she'd ever felt in her life. He was polite enough to answer her question. Greengrass.. That was familiar. In her state of tiredness, however, her brain was drawing a blank. "You.. Prefer Cast?" She wasn't sure how she was still talking an making any sense. Also, it shouldn't matter what he preferred. The girl stole a quick glance, just to make sure she wasn't overreacting. She wasn't, her eyes found their way back in front of her. Why was he looking at her like that? She nodded when he said something about how late it was. The next thing he said made her face burn again. Of course, now she had nothing direct to say back. Think, Ryan, think. "I have a boyfriend." Good move. She turned her head to him, fully.. Probably for the first time since he sat down, "If you fall down the steps, I'll be sure to help you back up. Fair?" This guy couldn't possibly be more nice to look at. Ryan managed a half smile, her face was still red, but at least she'd built up the courage to look at him. All of him. It was warm in this room. Edited by Ryan Elliot, Apr 13 2014, 03:51:26 PM.

"So I've heard," Castor agreed, feeling that he really shouldn't have to be telling her any of this, "But you would know all about it, wouldn't you? Considering..." Scrawny demon sibling. Actually, he wasn't really sure why he was thinking that was about her. It wasn't like she'd spoken to him at all, really. Still, it had her laughing, so why should he complain? Cast nodded at her question, fingers massaging the back of his neck. He wondered why she wasn't bothering to move his legs. "Like casteless." Came the matter of fact explanation, like she had been asking him for one instead of just for clarification. Not belonging anywhere. That wasn't something he shared with people. Cast decided to wiggle his legs, stretching one and then the other, to remind her of their presence. The fact that the motion undid her efforts to pull the skirt down was simply a byproduct. Really. He wouldn't do something like that on purpose. A boyfriend? That Hufflepuff guy, right? Castor had a way of noticing things, even if he didn't really mean to. It wasn't like he'd had an eye on her before any of this, but things stuck out in his mind... and that was one of them. "Saw him with some other girl at the party, guess I shouldn't have assumed anything," Of course, the thought that he should back off was sort of diminished by the blush lingering in her cheeks. It wasn't like anything was actually going to happen... he just didn't want some dude on his ass about this. "You're such a tiny thing," You should stop, "I'd probably break you if it happened." His falling, meaning. Where was that filter? Pretty useful in situations like these. |

What did Lis say to this guy to leave such an impression on him? "I.. Guess." He gave her a short explanation about his name, "Ok." What was she supposed to say? Interesting word? Was he trying to tell her something? She decided she was simply overthinking, as usual. Still, there was a part of her that wanted to ask. She refrained from it. Then his legs started to move. The girl had almost forgotten. Ryan reached for the end of her skirt and pulled it down again. She couldn't tell if it was on purpose or not. "Ree, my friend. I know." He wasn't reporting anything unknown. If she were a more daring girl she may have asked him if he often tattled on other girl's boyfriends, or was it just her he was concerned with. Ryan was not so bold, "Not a fan of big drinking parties." She enjoyed it when it was her and her little group of three that had recently developed, everyone present was someone she was mostly comfortable with. Her lips parted, as if to say something in return. She was being stupid. Letting him just.. Toy with her. She could leave at any time, he'd made that obvious , but she couldn't make herself move, "You should start making your way up then." The girl said finally. The last thing he said repeated in her mind. Again, thinking too far into what he was saying. Something knew he was doing it on purpose, and her overlooking only made him try harder. She didn't want to think of what else he might have meant. Or.. Maybe she did? He needed to get out of her head. Edited by Ryan Elliot, Apr 13 2014, 05:40:17 PM.

A friend, he'd probably known that too. Still, he couldn't resist mentioning it. Cast had to wonder what sort of relationship those two were in that she should be so comfortable with him getting drunk with some other girl. Not that he knew a damn thing about relationships. His only real clue coming from his foster parents, Ray and Annie. And he tried not to think about that too much. Ryan attempted justifying why she wasn't at the party. He couldn't imagine why. "I didn't ask." His gaze settled on her once more, quiet. He wasn't trying to tell her off, or something. Just wondering why she would need to explain herself. "But I can't see why anyone would." "Trying to get rid of me, huh?" Cast's lips curled into a slight pout, "Guy can take a hint." His legs were pulled from her, feet thudding against the ground as he repositioned. He could have pointed out the fact that she had every right to leave, instead of encouraging him in such a manner but he wasn't that particular brand of asshole tonight. "I'm not normally like this," Promised he, although he wasn't sure why. It wasn't any of her business what he was like. "You can find out for yourself tomorrow." A cheeky grin was directed back her way. His head spun slightly with the movement and he didn't get up right away. Instead taking the time to recenter himself and stop the slight swaying. No, he wasn't that drunk, was he? Just tipsy. A bit wobbly. He could definitely handle stairs. Castor was also pretty sure he'd remember this conversation in the morning. Most of the night, too. He wasn't a forgetful person. |

Once again, Ryan was speechless. It was like he knew something wasn't right. She fidgeted uncomfortably. Was she suddenly so uninteresting? She couldn't help but feel a little hurt. Which she knew was totally idiotic, so she felt hurt and stupid. She had no one to blame but herself. The girl remained quiet as he continued to talk, hanging on his every word with a desperation she didn't understand. It was ridiculous, but something made her miss the warmth that had been across her legs when he moved them away. Her hands folded quickly in her lap. She was biting her lip, now that he wasn't staring at her. She didn't want to give a fuck about how he 'normally' was, but she did. It made her angry at herself, "I'm hoping that you've had enough to drink that you'll forget all about me." She stated cooly, bitterly. She could live without the guy for the rest of her life, he could go back to whatever else he did with his own. She was already beginning to convince herself that she could forget him forever once he went up those stairs. Edited by Ryan Elliot, Apr 13 2014, 05:43:32 PM.

Cast wondered why she was suddenly annoyed now that he was leaving, especially after directing him to do so. Well, he had some ideas, but he wasn't about to voice them. The Ravenclaw stood, eyes settling on her once more. "Don't count on it," Castor responded, with a small shrug. It wasn't any big deal. "I can do you one better, though," Promised he, lips curling into a smirk. "I'll know the difference between you and the doppelganger," He passed by her on his route to the stairway, though he really wanted to lean over her and make her really uncomfortable. "She isn't nearly as interested in me as you are." And with that he found his way into the dorm, to sleep and hopefully not wake up with a hangover. |

They would have to see in the morning. Maybe she could be up early enough to avoid him entirely. He was likely to sleep in. She'd be up and out in no time at all. Maybe hide out all day. He could meet Lis and she could do more of whatever she'd already done. This, of course, was if he did remember. His words, the way he spoke, sent unpleasant chills through her, as he made his boasts. Like he was reading her mind. She wasn't uninteresting. It seemed he wasn't finished with her just yet. It was both a terrifying and exhilarating revelation. Interested. Was she.. She lowered her gaze. She had nothing good to say. The silence felt like defeat. When she was sure he was gone she exhaled. It felt like she'd been holding her breath the whole time, but her heart was slowing in pace as the seconds passed her by there. Finally, she staggered up to her bed, and passed out.
