Relieved, Carmen finally buckled into the grass of the courtyard, exhaling a sigh of relief. "Quick." She turned her back to Dave and Amelia, lifting her hair forward to reveal blood pooling at the base of her skull and dripping down the back of her clothes; it was smeared where she had sat and scurried away. "I can't aim my wand behind me. Use Terego and Vulnera Sanentur - it's advanced, but it'll heal the cut. I can't go to the Hospital Wing." She turned, still sitting in the grass, and remained silent as Amelia and Dave mumbled; finally, the spell began to sting, and she felt a sick, aching relief. Vulnera Sanentur, the more complicated spell, melded the cracked skin effortlessly; moments passed and the skin sizzled, then settled. In her hands, Carmen yanked fistfuls of grass anxiously, tearing at the blades while the sting faded. "Should be okay." Her hand rubbed the back of her head, clean now, save for the trails of blood staining her clothes; at least it was Halloween. She stared at Amelia and Dave, uncertain of what to say next, for she wasn't sure if they would or could believe what she had to say. Frowning, Carmen simply tugged at another fist of grass and sat in silence. The blades stained her hands green. "Things are happening," she said finally, diving to yank at a weed in the ground. She hesitated... but it was never like Carmen to bite her tongue; she would tell them what happened, and if they didn't believe her, she would accept the label of a fraud or the hopeless girlfriend of Theodore Wickham. Indignantly, Carmen stared at Amelia and Dave bluntly, as if daring them to question her words. "You know all too well that we need to be careful who we trust. And I don't think that we can trust Tom Riddle." |

Amelia followed Carmen letting go of her hand as they reached the grass, it was rather unusual how events always seemed to find them. Always seemed to find the Wickhams, and Carmen had been throw into it as well. Amelia pulled her wand out of her pocket and pointed it towards the cut on Carmen’s head. “Terego.” Amelia moved her wand allowing herself to think about what was happening. What had happened. “Who did this to you Carmen?” Amelia waited a few seconds before letting out a small sigh and continuing to the next spell. “Vulnera Sanentur” Amelia then stepped back from Carmen watching what was happening in front of her. Things are happening. Amelia stood still, her eyes stuck on Carmen and the blades of grass that slipped from her fingers. Amelia had only spoken to Riddle once, she made a point not to speak to the head boys and girls most of the time. Especially when they sometimes liked to go as wild as her cousin when it came to giving out detentions. “There are a lot of people we can’t trust.” |

Dave was stunned. Who could have done such a thing to Carmen and gotten away with it? Hogwarts was meant to be a safe place. The idea that his friends could be hurt within these walls was certainly distressing. Dave clenched his fists. "Tell us, Carmen," Dave hissed from behind clamped teeth. He and Amelia would straighten out whoever it was, as it would be the right thing to do, rules be damned. Dave looked at Amelia with a cross look on his face. "What does Tom Riddle have to do with any of this?" he asked, ruling out the idea that Tom could have been the culprit. The boy was well known as being talented and destined for great things; there was no way he could be responsible for what had happened. "We should go to my father right away," Dave insisted, his voice stern and without its usual air of humour. "If there's anyone we can trust, it's him. He'll know what to do." |

Carmen admired Dave's father as much as one could admire a professor, but the thought of confiding this information in someone other than her friends was disconcerting. "If I had wanted to confide in an adult, I would have chosen my mom," smirked Carmen, crossing her arms against her chest. "She's deputy headmistress; if anyone knows what to do, it'd be her." Carmen rolled her eyes, wiping her palms on her sides before she stood up, wobbly at first. She steadied herself and exhaled deeply. "It's worth a shot," conceded Carmen. "McKelvey and my mom need to know. But whether they believe me is an entirely different story." Even Carmen herself was beginning to doubt what had happened; Tom was a personable, handsome young man, and although he'd harbored resentment against Theodore, Tom was considered one of the better people in the castle, worth trusting. Maybe he was trying to help Carmen; her defenses were so heightened after the tournament... maybe she'd exaggerated, maybe Tom was trying to help her after she'd fallen, maybe his grip was to apply pressure to stop the bleeding, maybe... Was it possible that Carmen had overreacted? "I... I don't know," she mumbled suddenly, eyes darting around the room, but avoiding Amelia and Dave. "I mean... okay, he saw me in the corridors, and... and, well, he was... reassuring, you know, like everyone's been these days. Told me I was full of potential." Carmen frowned. "I think I fainted, and the next thing I know, he's on top of me, and he's grabbing me, and he's telling me... I have potential..." The whole scene seemed blurry. "I just... there was something about his voice, and he told me he was choosing people... but for what? You guys don't think I'm exaggerating, do you?" |

Amelia could have rolled her eyes right down into the dirt as the pair exchanged sentences about how their parents knew best. It was always the same; she should have expected it really. “Well my parents blah blah blah.” Amelia smirked glancing between the two of them. “Are we still on this bragging loop or can we wrap it up?” Amelia paused for a moment glancing between the two, obviously their parents were nice and all but Amelia didn’t really want to speak to them about her own abilities. Obviously her mother had told them, but Amelia would go to Ginny before any other professor within the building. They were family after all. Amelia paused for a moment, did Dave know about Carmen? Fuck knows. Amelia immediately felt the anger surge through her body. It was uncontrollable. Her fingers buzzed, her hair began to stand up on ends and flow out from in front of her shoulders. “He was on top of you?” Amelia glanced over to Dave, her teeth clenched and her body ready to pounce. “Where is that fucker?! I’ll fucking kill him. I’ll throw water on his body and bam” Amelia threw her arm out and electricity zapped out from her hand hitting the tree with a bang. She was pissed, that was not a good sign. “I know, let’s cut his balls off and ask him what the fuck he is doing.” |

After looking around a few minutes, Pandy finally spotted Dave, Amelia and the other Ravenclaw in the courtyard. She frowned. This looked private. But obviously the Ravenclaw had been bleeding since Dave and Amelia looked to be healing it. This didn't seem good. Should I just leave? This is probably nosy. But even though Dave and Amelia were probably doing a fine job of taking care of the girl, Pandy honestly had been left a little worried. They'd left the table so quickly. Pandy walked toward the group and swallowed. "Um... Oh this was a bad idea. "I don't mean to intrude, but um....is everything ok? You left so quickly and....and you looked hurt..." Pandy shrugged and put her hands in her pockets. Like she could do anything. This was a really bad idea. So nosy. So nosy. Keep your mind on your own business, Abel. "I'm sorry, this was a bad idea. I can go..." She angled her body back towards the castle, but didn't start to leave yet, her heart pounding. She didn't want to leave them if there was something wrong. |

Dave shook his head. "Right, what was I thinking?" he asked rhetorically, feeling stupid for suggesting anyone other than Carmen's mother. He had trouble remembering that he wasn't the only student at the school with staff members as his parents. Such a thing was convenient, for the most part, but Dave sometimes felt guilty for the trouble that he and the other Marauders caused, as his father might have to deal with it. On second thought, maybe not. "He... grabbed you?" Dave repeated Carmen's words, becoming flustered. Amelia seemed to be doing exactly the same, launching into a tirade. Dave took a step back and shielded himself from the sparks that were now arcing out from Amelia's fingers. "CHRIST Amelia, keep that shit locked down!" Dave warned as a bolt of lightning shot right out of her hand and into a nearby tree, sending a resounding crack echoing throughout the surrounding corridors. A professor or one of the nosey prefects would likely be along soon to investigate, which was exactly what they didn't need. "Let her explain before we go off and blow up the old head boy. And you should be careful about who you use your powers around," he scolded. Dave assumed that Carmen was aware of Amelia's power, as he was, but the threat of someone less trustworthy finding out was always present. Dave took a deep breath and exhaled sharply. His primal instinct told him to immediately seek out the boy and put a wand to his throat, but he knew better than to assault someone as reputable as Tom Riddle, especially now that he held an official position within the school. He opened his mouth to ask what should happen next, but was soon interrupted by a familiar voice. "Pandora!" Dave exclaimed when the girl appeared in the courtyard. Dave swore internally. He didn't want Pandora to see him in his current angry state, so he took a second to collect himself. "Hey, hey, it's all good," Dave reassured her, stepping away from Amelia and Carmen to console his current quarry. Dave lowered his voice. "Everything's good, it's fine," he said in a hushed voice, touching Pandora's shoulder in reassuring fashion. His hand lingered for a moment as he appreciated the contact between them. "Carmen's just having one of her bad days today," Dave lied. It wasn't his place to reveal the details of what had happened, as he wasn't sure of how well the two knew each other. "Everything is alright though, I promise. I'm sure she's comforted by the fact that you've actually shown concern, which is not something that a lot of people have done for her lately." Dave smiled and attempted to lighten the mood. "You're going to be late if you don't get going. You never answered me though. Do you want to meet up after your class? I can just wait for you in the corridor." Dave looked up. The sky was grey and cloudy, but the temperature was at least agreeable for the end of October. "How about brunch or something? I'll probably be hungry in an hour or so, teenaged boy and all," he joked. "Maybe we can head out the quidditch pitch and catch some sun before this storm rolls on. Deal?" |

Pandy nodded. Bad day. Everyone was entitled to one of those, though usually simply a bad day didn't involve bleeding in the Great Hall. Then again, Pandy didn't have to be super suspicious. Perhaps it had really been fake blood. For a costume. What costume Pandy didn't know. Or maybe Carmen didn't want to talk about it with a virtual stranger. Either was fine. Pandy didn't need to pry. "Yeah." She said, biting her lip. They could probably handle it. Without her. Bad idea. She smiled softly. It didn't seem right to give a full smile when Carmen was over a few feet away, obviously upset. "That sounds fantastic," She said. "Deal. I'll just look for you in the corridor after Muggle Studies?" She made a mental note, however futile it was, to make sure she wrote it down when she was out of the immediate vicinity. While she was fairly certain Dave was unforgettable, she was extremely scatterbrained if she wasn't careful and didn't put it past herself to try and go to the library to study or to her dorm to run through her music for tonight one last time after class, forgetting she'd made plans with Dave to go have fun in her free. Then again, if he was in the corridor he'd probably grab her before she walked off. In any case, she wanted to write it down. But at the moment, she didn't really want to tell him about that little tendency of hers. It was a little embarrassing. "Um, yeah." She looked down. "I should probably get to class. If you're sure you're ok, Carmen?" She just wanted to make sure, even if it was probable that Carmen would just brush her off. She knew Carmen wasn't exactly a friend of hers and she was probably being annoying, and she wasn't helping. At all. She couldn't know what shit the other girl was going through. But it was a concern thing. Dave had said she hadn't gotten a lot of concern lately. |
