Edit: Here is the updated Black/site family tree. If you would like to be added to it, please contact Dave (warning: large image). I know we made a family tree, BUT... The more I post about House Wickham/Carmichael/Malfoy I'm sensing a serious political/power thing going on... so it'd be cool to make a comprehensive list of all of the families who want "in" on the power... like a Game of Thrones concept, almost. Right now, we can all agree House Wickham has kind of monopolized the "big, powerful family" thing but with Precious in Azkaban, countless families want to step up to the plate, show off, and steal the title as the "Richest, Bestest Family Ever" SOOOOOOOOOO... Wickhams - Precious - Collin - Theodore - Vera Carmichaels - Tinsley - Ariella - Violetta Sparks - Lita - Tinsley's 400 brothers Malfoys - Atticus - Aloisia - Victor - Cersia Drapers - Don - Dolores - Lily - Dean - Don's love children and mistresses probably And I've seen a lot of people posting about their super important "families" so now would be a good time to add here what the family background is, how influential they are... just so we have a good reference for when we post, especially since some families are more hellbent on creating alliances, assuming power... ya know, that sorta thing Edited by Dave McKelvey Jr., Jun 9 2014, 05:42:28 PM.

Here is the enormous family tree so far. Warning: it's fucking huge. I can continue adding people as required. I haven't updated it in a bit, but as you might be able to see, pretty much everyone is related to the Blacks in some way, which is basically how it was in the books. Going from left to right, the following families are related in some way: Draper, Hindert, Dewitt, Wickham, Malfoy, Longbottom, Riddle, Weasley, Boot, Potter, Black. I've listed the McKelvey and Bauer families as pureblooded in the past, but neither of them are tied into the Black family tree. Jordanna is technically part of the Black family tree and was adopted as a Bauer. McKelvey Clan: - Irish pureblood, some Scottish ties. Roughly translates to "men of the woods", descended from ancient druidic clans. - Not known to care for blood status, but still very traditional. Bauer: - Germanic pureblood. Descended from a line of witches and wizards who disguised themselves as farmers to avoid persecution during the Middle Ages. - Known for blood purity in German circles. - Anthony and Marilyn Bauer have close ties to Druella and Cygnus Black III, as they were allowed to adopt Jordanna Black from them at birth. |

So people might be looking at the Abels on this one but wait until I talk to Des first on that one and I'll get back to you. Here's the ones I actually know for sure right now: Travers: - Harold Travers - Connor Travers - Anna Travers Note: Harold is actually the last remaining member of the Travers family that's still considered respectable. Connor and his daughter, Anna, are both considered to be blood traitors; even though Anna's mother is a Greengrass so she's definitely pureblood (although she was born out of wedlock) - One of the Sacred 28 - probably distantly related to a bunch of folks but nothing really substantial is noted. Algar: - Richard "Dick" Algar - Jayde Freeman-Algar - Romilda Carter (though not technically Algar after a very nasty divorce) - Webb Algar - Zena Algar - Ricky Algar - Randy Algar - Korey Algar - Dickinson Algar As for liniage details, the Algar family is old and distinguished. They date back to five lineages, a Germanic line that migrated to England, a Scandinavian line, two English lines and a line from Denmark. The Denmark line and the Scandinavian line died off, the English lines united, and that's where the Algars are today. They were originally nobles who were particular fans of war and fighting, but they were good strategists which was probably how they didn't die off. Now the Algar family has ties to the ministry, although Jayde and Richard work in Freeman confections. The Algars are tolerant enough, not active in the discrimination of muggleborns and the like, but have mostly been taught from an early age that they did happen to be of a certain status and should remember such. Freeman: - Jayde Freeman-Algar (and son Dickinson Algar) - Mallory Freeman (who disappeared before Dick was born) - Satiago Freeman - Brown Freeman - Andros Freeman - Ryder Freeman While the Freemans are pureblood, they aren't supremasists. They were mostly Bakers when they came about and eventually evolved into candy makers. Most of them now are chefs, bakers, candymakers, something in the food industry, etc. Generally regarded as blood traitors and below most people's status. So that's that. |

The families I have wouldn't really be considered to be part of the power struggle - in the UK, anyhow. Igarashi The Igarashi family is very prominent in Japan (particularly in Kanto, less so in Tokyo itself, however) - they are connected through the female line to most other families, with most being pureblood, however the name has spilt into the muggle population extensively. There are few trueborn Igarashi's. Roku and Romulus are the last members of the predominate branch - Roku's brother has taken his place to carry on the name, due to Roku's disgrace. The first of the line originated in the Nara period (710-784), a skilled swordsman by the name of Karu. It is not known whether he was magical by blood or not (though most believe him to be), however he married into the imperial line of the time, a pretty maiden by the name of Kairai. She was distrusted in the imperial court for her use of sorcery, as was most of her family, only respected out of fear. Rumours are told that caused the Great Smallpox Epidemic of 737, killing one third of Japan's population after her own daughter by Karu was taken from her, under unknown circumstances. In the Heian Period, in Japan, when literature and prose flourished, the Igarashi line also flourished, which is when the name started to become more common among muggles. Igarashi girls were famed for their beauty - the blessing of Kairai. This led to many being wed to rich traders and occasionally royalty, and the Igarashi income boomed. Girls with Igarashi features were a much sought-after rarity in brothels. The majority of the wizarding line of Igarashi was killed off in the Feudal Era, and although they fought valiantly as samurai, they refused to use their magic and so they were almost always defeated. This resulted them losing virtually all of their assets, turning to dark practices to regain their power and wealth. There are also rumours of mutilation of dragons, however there is little modern evidence of this. In the modern day, they cease to have the same extent of influence that they once had. However, they are still very prominent and very powerful, mainly due to their vast wealth which the worked hard to get back - the blessing of Kairai had practical uses as well as aesthetic. Although the gender ratio of girls to boys was incredibly inverse, this has flipped, with not a single Igarashi girl being born in over a century. Their fertility dropped, with one or two sons being the absolute max. The pureblooded line has almost completely died out. Few in the Western Wizarding World will have heard of them, their name appearing only in history books and the fourth years' class register. Igarashi: Olenna Roku Romulus Akai Thornton The Thornton family is English, hailing from the southern part of England. It is not known when exactly they first came into influence - but since the 1700's, they always had wealth, assets and pureblooded girls to marry. Their own daughters rarely married (a common joke in the Wizarding World, 'born a Thornton maiden, always a Thornton maiden') One thing they never had was power - although they were pureblooded, their gaunt, weaselish faces and hooked noses put off many of the traditional families marrying their main line daughters to them, it was always the cadet branches, the extras and the spares. Their preferred families to marry into were Black and Crabbe, which sometimes worked readily as the Black line was always complex and the Crabbes weren't always known for being attractive. They maintained their assets and wealth until a few generations ago, in which they lost almost all of this. To resolve this, they reached the ultimate low - marrying a muggleborn duchess. This got them some wealth, which was lost again (lol), but allowed them to marry into the Crabbe family again (a sucky cadet branch, but Crabbe nonetheless). The Thornton family traits have stopped with Jason and Bell, as neither Max nor Arcturus took after their father. Thornton: Rachel (would be DeWitt if Lucy would gtfo) Jason Bell Arcturus Max Edited by Max Thornton, May 23 2014, 07:34:02 PM.

If we're talking about Don's mistresses and love children then we add like +8 to the Draper tree. Jk/jk Umm so I'm going off the assumption that purebloods didn't orginate in England (unless canon says they did?). Just like all white people didn't come from the UK... I'd like to think that each region has their own sacred pureblood families? American Purebloods: +Draper +Kennedy +Moreau (though I think they're French. Gotta ask Tiff) +Sinclair (Constance + brothers) +Buchanan +anyone else who's said their family is American pureblood. Which makes sense, because three of the above mentioned names are actual old family names. Yaxleys (English): +Daniel +Charlotte (nee Harrington, again, American Pureblood) +Cordelia +Camilla DeWitts (who branched off from the Burke family tree): +Booker +Lucy (nee Hindert) +Alexander +Sasha Hinderts (Serbian/Slavic purebloods): +Ian +Annik +Lily +Lucy +Precious And the Krossnelovichkis (Annik's family, Russian pureblood). Annik had five sisters, one married to another Russian Pureblood and had a kid, which is Jess' character, Bradley Bhodhsa. That's all I got right now.. |

Maison de Pointe du Lac The Pointe du Lacs were one of the most prominent families in Europe, and were part of an alliance of European pureblood families representing the most powerful wizarding families of France, Italy, and and Austria as recorded in The Golden Book (a sort of who's-who manifesto when it came to important wizard family aristocracies). After two world-wars, and several social upheavals, it became clear that pureblood ties in most of Europe had grown thin. It was Toussaint de Pointe du lac VI that moved his family from their ancestral home in Toulouse to England, for the sole purpose of continuing the pureblood line through compacts with families such as the Blacks. The Pointe du Lacs made their money in trade. Long after the International Statue of Secrecy, the Pointe du Lacs had their hands in all sorts of magical and non-magical trade. They were one of the few French trade companies to have partnerships with the far-east, and the green serpentine dragon motif that adorns the family crest was a gift from Chinese artisans and friends. It wasn't until their disastrous attempts to gain a foothold in the New World, and the resulting body count, that they were finally forced by the Ministry to agree to bow out of all muggle affairs and disappear from the muggle world--which they did...somewhat. To this day, the very business interests that in-part support Tinsley and her daughter operate in both the magical and muggle worlds, with or without Tinsley's knowledge or oversight. The Pointe du Lacs, as well as most families recorded in the Golden Book, emphasized honor and would abide by, and even enforce the laws of the countries they lived in. Each family had a strong relationship with the ruling power of the day, and the Pointe du Lacs were no different. The only reason the reason the Pointe du Lacs avoided losing their heads during the French Revolution was because it's hard to decapitate a wizard with a guillotine. And when another so-called "Revolution" cropped up, this time the product of some bored ideologically-driven college boys with nothing to do, the Pointe du Lacs were there personally to put it down (the only law the Pointe du Lacs didn't always recognize was separationist wizard law). This brought the ire of the International Conference of Wizards for the last time. But the Pointe du Lacs were able to weasel out of retribution by forming an alliance with the Ministry directly, and the family had been a defender of wizard law up until the war with Azariah, when Alphonse betrayed the Ministry and his family by killing his father, Anton. Today, the Pointe du Lac line is all but wiped out. The power struggle started by Alphonse de Pointe du Lac, Azariah Amaranth's second-in-command, decimated almost all hopes of a continuing line. Anton de Pointe du Lac (Alphonse's father) was widowed and re-married Angeline Black, of the Noble House of Black. Ian de Pointe du Lac was born seven months later. But Ian was not of the Pointe du Lac line, though the estate was left to him shortly before his disappearance. Anton had taken pity on Angeline and her bastard. Ian and his daughters, Ariella (with Tinsley Carmicheal) and Ioanna (with a muggle named Isolde MacGowan) are not heirs to the de Pointe du Lac line. Though Ian's name was written in the Golden Book, as if he were Anton's son, Ian was never around during their birth to have their names recorded. As such, the de Pointe du Lac estate remains in Tinsley Carmicheal's hands (though they were never married) and neither Ariella nor Ioanna can claim any part of the estate due Ioanna's halfblood status and Ariella's father's name being falsified on her birth certificate. There is only one legitimate heir to the Pointe du Lac family, and that is Desdemona de Pointe du Lac, daughter of Alphonse and Belladonna (nee Quagmire). In order to reclaim her birthright, she would have to expose Ian as illegitimate. Alphonse disgraced himself and dishonored his family name by joining with Azariah and breaking the law, and Ian, despite having refused to be registered as an Elementium, is still well within the good graces of the family laws (his other crimes never having been proven in a court of law). Breakdown: Black Family Connection: Angeline Black (mother of Ian de Pointe du Lac. Ian's father's identity is unknown). de Pointe du Lac: Toussaint de Pointe du Lac VI (Anton's grandfather). Anton (father of Alphonse with Satine (nee Quicompoix)). Alphonse Desdemona (daugther of Alphonse and Belladonna (nee Quagmire)). Carmicheal: Ariella (daughter of Ian de Pointe du Lac and Tinsley Carmicheal). MacGowan: Ioanna (daughter of Ian de Pointe du Lac and Isolde MacGowan).
