Madame Puddifoot's was usually crowded on Hogsmeade weekends, and today proved to be of little difference. "It's too friggen hot in here." Anita whined, sliding into a booth. The polished wood gleamed under the candlelight. A faint smell of hot tea floated above the heads of young couples. "My vagina is sweating." She fanned herself with the laminated menu. "At least it's warmer in here than outside. I literally hate the cold."

It was an odd group to congregate. After her prefect duty, she had ditched the fourth years and arrived at Madame Puddifoot's, hand-in-hand with her boyfriend. They had a double-date with another couple - the last people Anita thought she would ever be friends with - and now, the meeting was in full-swing. She tapped on the table with sharp, red nails. "What the hell is taking them so long? I'm thirsty." Anita turned her head in the direction of the bar.

"Could you be any slower?"

Wearing a skirt to a crowded pub was a bad idea. The air was humid inside, and Dolores' skirt kept riding upwards, sticking her fleshy thighs to the seat under her. Annoyed, Dolly tugged the material down. Why didn't she just wear pants? She smiled softly at Anita, unsure of what to say to a girl that she had ignored for six years. Anita was in the Vox, an adamant follower of Daisy Fitzroy. Anita also was one of the many who believed Theodore was dead.

"I like your nails." Dolly reached forward and gripped Anita's fingers. She brought her hand by Anita's and compared the two. Dolly's nails were black and reflected her face, sharp as razorblades. Anita's were a deep red with a rounded edge. "My mom does them like this all the time. It drives me crazy, because it's the same thing over and over."

Her mother. Lillian Hindert. Right, the woman back from the dead. She shifted uncomfortably as she glanced at William across the pub, standing at the bar as the bartender slid him two mugs. The gray coat he wore hugged his handsome back in a tight embrace. His muscles were defined underneath the cloth, sending Dolly into a dizzying spiral of inner-conflict and lust. I love him.

"Wonder what that's about?" Louis jerked his head in the direction of the booth. Anita was always impatient, but today she was more so than usual. Perhaps she felt awkward trying to force a conversation with Dolores Draper. Louis was feeling the complete opposite with Dreyfus; their easy-going personalities blended well together. "Ma'm? Those two firewhiskeys I ordered?" As if on cue, two glasses of brown liquid in his direction.

"Thank you." He drawled in his southern accent, a mischievous smile on his lips. "Alright," He grabbed the drinks and turned to William. "Ready? It's a long walk to the booth." The two men, both over six-feet tall, pushed through the growing crowd, careful not to spill the sloshing liquids in their hands.

Gently, he set the drinks down at the edge of the table. "For you, ladies."

William slid the mug to Dolores. "Here's what you ordered, dear." He lifted his glass up to his lips. "Ah, should we have a toast?" His blue eyes darted between the three. "To love! May our relationships be long and fruitful." The glasses became a chorus of clinks, followed by slurps and relieved ahhhhhs.

He tuned to Louis, who was standing beside him, and grinned. "The Moreau boy makes a great companion. I've never known so much about the American south until I met him." Then, both men turned to the women, forming small circles with their index and thumb fingers. They framed their eyes with their hands, creating makeshift binoculars. "Incoming, incoming sir. Up ahead I spot two young women drinking. They look terribly lonely. Should we swoop down and handle the situation?"

"Affirmative, Colonel Dreyfus. Land immediately." Louis grinned. Then, he made a gesture, as if gripping an airplane control stick. Both boys made airplane noses until Louis simulated an impromptu landing. He turned to William. "We've landed safely." He held his hands out, palms upward.

William slapped both hands with his own, then they high-fived, and ended their improvised handshake with a firm shake of their gripped hands.

"Oh Louis," Anita laughed. "You flatter me." It was about time Louis made friends with someone closer to his age. His best friend was missing, his twin was busy getting sucked off, and the other boys in his grade vowed to stay away because of Louis' choice in friends. All of his extra free time was spent with Anita. She sighed dreamily. The only thing she wanted was for him to be happy.

"Firewhiskies? Come on, Lou. Where's the schnapps?" Adventurous for a southern girl, especially one who's father knocked back whiskey and Johnny B. She was feeling rather frisky that afternoon, and a small part of her wanted to impress Dolly. The girl seemed so regal, graceful, someone that Anita wanted to be friends with.

Even if Fitzroy would frown upon it.

FIRE PURE RISE

I can see my sweet boy swayin'... His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up, on the balcony and I'm singing, ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love...

Louis' body suddenly felt very real when he slid into the seat beside Dolores. She sat across from William, and Louis sat beside Anita. The smile on her crimson lips faltered when the Gryffindor's thigh brushed against hers. On purpose, or on accident? Whatever it was, Dolores certainly wasn't feeling loyal at the moment. Her mind was running, dodging questions as if they were hurtles. Morality wasn't something you were born with, it was something you learn. Instinct was what kept you alive.

She felt the muscles in her belly clench. Inhale, exhale, for ten seconds, until she could slow the pulse of feelings. He's so handsome, She thought, sneaking a look from the corner of her eye. So tall... And his arms. Only a quidditch player could have arms like that. Her breath hitched in her throat. Merlin, her boyfriend was right across from her!

"I think we can save the heavier drinks for later." Dolores answered Anita's question with a neutral tone. It was getting harder to breathe. Why was she slowly losing control of herself? Teenage hormones were an ugly thing that shouldn't be dealt with lightly. Louis was growing more and more appealing by the second.

"You kissed him?" Lily draper exhaled a cloud of cigarette smoke, arching a manicured brow. "Don't be so easy, Dolores. You don't kiss boys. Boys kiss you."

To hell with her mother's traditional standards. If Dolly wanted to kiss someone, then she would.

Her hand occupied the narrow space between their legs. Her face was stoic, indifferent to the flushing blood through her tunnels. "Unless we want to all stumble around drunk at three o'clock in the afternoon." She pouted her lips and turned to Louis. Then, in the most raspy and seductive voice she could muster, she said, "In which that case, I don't have a problem with making a few mistakes."

Hormones.

Brett Moreau was the one to change girls like outfits. Brett was the one to kiss you, then kiss your best-friend, and then apologize by kissing her sister. Not Louis. So then why did he suddenly regret his relationship with Anita? Nearly eleven months of "love" and sex, and this was what he had to show for it? Shitty, boring pub dates with other couples to talk about weekend plans?

Louis felt the heat too. No, it wasn't just him, he wasn't fantasizing things. Dolly was being a tease and it put him on edge. His eyes wandered down to her legs and noticed the slip of flesh between the skirt and the stockings. That nearly drove him to the ceiling. In an attempt to distract himself, he firmly gripped the mug and rose it to his lips. Think of something else.... You're not a cheater, Louis. You're not....

"Well if you're down, I'm down!" Anita burst out laughing.

Merlin, shut up Anita. Shut up, shut up, shut up. Louis thought irritably.

"Schnapps, Dolly?" Anita asked. Louis turned to look at her. She shook her head. "Schnapps, Louis?"

"No thank you." He smiled.

"Okay... Schnapps, William?"

Dreyfus padded his stomach. "No thank you, dear. I'm not a fan of strong alcohol. But while you're up, I'd like to excuse myself to the bathroom."

"Sure." Anita stood from the booth and walked in the direction of the bar. William headed towards the back.

They were alone.

Louis cleared his throat, mentally kicking himself for allowing himself to be in this situation. "You said something about making mistakes," He began. "You can't do that sober."

Ba-dump. Ba-dump. Ba-dump.

Dolores' heartbeat was the soundtrack to this vital moment. She wanted to reach out and graze her fingertips along his tanned cheeks. The Moreaus were from Louisiana, and his southern charm had fixated Lo with an unwavering flame. Merlin, why couldn't she just plant her lips on him and have him in the booth? The world had shrunk to only allow room for her and the man beside her.

I've got a burning desire for you....

"Part of me wants to do something I'll forget but won't regret," She replied. "I can do it sober or drunk. Either way, I still know what I want." The thumps grew louder. If her heart pumped any faster, she was afraid she would pass out. This was the moment. It was too perfect to pass up.

Slowly, Dolores' elongated fingers creeped in a spider-like fashion towards his leg. The chemicals in her brain shot upward like a geyser. She felt the relief fountain in her belly. He tensed under her touch, but as she moved her fingers in a teasing, circular motion, he eased.

Oh, Lord have mercy... Louis clenched his teeth, mustering the willpower to keep his composure in public. They were in a pub, very liable to the public eye, Louis however, could not bring himself to worry over suspecting eyes. Anita was at the bar. She would be back soon, but not yet.

Did Louis want to risk it? Each passing moment was a second that could be spent reconciling the touch. Anita was ordering drinks. William was pissing in a urinal. There was no doubt in Louis' mind that the man would be extra delicate when washing his hands - he seemed like the type to obsess over personal hygiene. His body burned with desire, fiery licks tingling his arm, screaming at him to move. Louis took the plunge.

He reached up and rested a large hand on the side of her face. Then, very delicately, he traced the outline of her crimson lips with his thumb. She closed her eyes and sighed, filling Louis with a giddy excitement. Slowly, he ran it over the parting of her lips, her breath was warm. She licked his finger in response, and Louis knew right then that he had made an enormous mistake.

Fuck.

Louis pulled his hand from her face, afraid that if he left it any longer it would shatter the perfect moment. She retracted her hand from his lap. "Where can I see you alone?"

Dolly's eyes glimmered under the light, relieved that Louis wanted her more than she needed him. She was a temptress with seductive movements, fluttering hearts and pulsing aches. Where could they escape without the guise of their lovers? Where could they betray their promises and past commitments? Dolly's eyes brightened as an idea struck her: "There's an abandoned shack at the furthest corner of the grounds. Tonight, 8 o'clock. Be there."

Meet me in the pale moonlight.

Usually, Dolores spent the night in William's dorm room, and that ensured the privacy they needed for the night. Jane had told Dolly about the lone building, and she too had her fair share of sneaking around - except she wasn't in a long-term relationship. At times, the guilt manifested in Dolly's heart, and she did feel bad because William was usually so good to her. But she loved him too much to end it, but not enough to stay committed. Simply put, she was a terrible person who shouldn't be allowed to forge relationships with people. Ever.

As expected, William returned a few minutes later, grumbling about the quality of bathroom soap. Lo caught Louis' eyes and laughed to herself. "Guess being a nurse is an appropriate job for you then, hmm?"
