If you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything.

Ryan entered the common room, having made her way quickly up the stairs. She was slightly out of breath. In her hand was the newspaper, with news that she figured, Castor may have already known. Somehow or another, his parents had gotten out somehow in this break out. Ryan didn't know how, but that was likely how he was receiving those letters.
She scanned the room quickly and found him sitting on the couch. Cast looked tired, it was fairly normal. She came around and sat on the couch next to him. "Hey." Wow, "Did you sleep at all last night?" She said, tone much calmer than she expected.. mostly because seeing him made a lot of her worry go away... well, maybe it only was replaced by something else, her concern for his health, mostly. She assumed he was dealing with a lot, more than normal, considering. She'd almost forgotten that she had the paper in her hand. Both the copy of the Prophet and her book were placed down on the table in front of them so a free hand could reach gently for his arm. Her eyes shifted quickly to the book and back. Ryan truly was unsure ho he was able to do it? She probably would have passed out by now.

Castor hadn't slept at all last night. He was knee deep in a philosophy book and his head kept going in circles and circles and circles. At some point he had realized that he should get out of bed and find his way into the common, but he hadn't gotten much further than that. Hunger didn't seem all that important to him. If he was going to do anything, it would be sleep but he had classes soon and he was so close to finishing the book.

He blinked a little as a familiar voice pulled him away from the words of Friedrich Nietzsche. The book was old, no traces of the name remained on the cover. The pages between the covers were worn and smelled ancient. He liked that smell. A ghost of a smile was her response. "Not really," But she already knew that. Lucky she never seemed put off by his generally unkempt and tired visage. Ryan had come in from outside of the common. He wondered why. Certainly not looking for him? His eyes glazed over the hand on his arm and to the prophet on the table, then up to her. "Oh." He said, as realization festered in his tired mind.

Ryan sighed and shook her head, but there was a smile on her face, "Oh?" She asked, unsure of what ha just happened. Oh. "I don't really read the news that much," She also managed to keep away from gossip, it was just better, normally. Now, she was realizing that keeping up with it was going to be a must, "I guess.. You knew already?" She asked quietly, feeling kind of slow. Her hand moved from him to the paper, picking it up and flipping the paper over to hide the face of Precious Wickham, along with the headline.
It had been stupid to come up here. Even if he hadn't known, it wouldn't change much, would it? Hey look, your parents escaped along with everyone else somehow? Not something she wanted to celebrate, also not something that was any of her business.

Castor had read more news articles than he cared to admit. As soon as he was allowed any information he could find on his parents. Everything about his parents he could find, he read. The Ravenclaw had an inherent distrust for the news as it was such an easy way to manipulate and control the masses. Anything read there was taken with a grain of salt. As with any information. Always was it important to devise ones own opinions. "Not really." It just sort of made sense.

There was still a lot that needed explaining. He guessed the implications hadn't really settled in just yet. "That should probably terrify me," Castor murmured unthinkingly as she flipped the newspaper over. He continued to stare, the headline felt burned into his retinas. What would they do, if they were free? If they wanted to find him? They obviously already knew he was at Hogwarts. What else? Not what he looked like, not if his name had been changed... In their position, he would start at the orphanage and work through foster families until they found Ray and Annie... He swallowed harshly.

"They'll look for me, won't they?" Did he want them to find him? Not like that. But otherwise? Would it be worse for him, if they didn't? If those letters were just some sick joke?

Ryan felt slightly less stupid, save for the common sense factor. Right, of course it made sense that they were out and that was how he received the letters.
That should probably terrify me. Ryan looked up to the boy, he was still looking at the paper. She wanted to say something, but there were many things that could be said, and all of them sort of felt out of place. She was quiet for a while, heard him swallow, then speak again. Was he afraid? "It's hard to be sure about it, but.. Maybe." It was fairly likely, actually. Was that not what he wanted? Of course, it meant everyone around him was in danger. Ryan was unsure how to answer this question further.
"You don't have to be terrified, you know." She didn't know what he needed right now, but she wished she did. The younger Ravenclaw only wanted to help him, "You are allowed to feel however you need." Ryan had no clue what it was like to grow up the way he had, without his parents. Even if the thought that they and all of the other people who needed to be locked up where out free, roaming around terrified her.. Which it did, he was allowed to be curious. He was allowed to hope that someone loved him, somewhere. Ryan was afraid for herself, for her family, and even for him? Which was kind of strange. She kind of wanted to hug him, but instead she kind of sat there, feeling awkward, "No one understands what that headline means to you." Not to isolate him, or make him feel alone.. She kissed him on the cheek. He was still holding his book.. So yeah, a hug would be strange, but some kind of affection towards him felt necessary. He might be the only one around that was feeling this way, but she wanted him to understand, somehow, that she was there for him.

Cast listened to what she had to say, though he didn't really plan on feeling any particular way. In fact, even if he wanted to... Right now, there was nothing. Just a mild apathy as he looked over the situation with as much subjectivity as was allowed to him. He knew he should feel something and he knew that fear was what would be deemed most appropriate. Everything else was vaguely undefined. Cast didn't know how to respond to the strange girl sitting at his side. So clearly desiring to help him through this trying time. Ryan so desperately wanted to help him. She didn't know he was beyond help.

Ryan kissed his cheek and he finally looked back her way. He tossed his book on top of the newspaper.

Was it worse to feel nothing at all? Or was he just processing? Cast didn't know.

"I don't think I feel like anything right now," He'd been trying to joke, a little, but it probably didn't come across as very funny. "It's just a headline, though. They'll probably get caught again, and if they don't they won't be able to do anything bold anyway. Not anytime soon." Right. It changed nothing. That was the best way to look at it. "It's better that way, I think." Eventually he would have to stop thinking about them. He'd almost believed it possible when he had been introduced to the Jennings. Now everything was sucking him back in and he didn't know what to do. "You don't need to worry about me." An arm wrapped around her, and he promised it teasingly into her ear.

Cast was brushing it off again. Ryan had less confidence in the law enforcement.... For reasons. Mostly for her father. It really wasn't their fault? They seemed to be controlled from the inside. Why did she want to become an auror so badly again?
Change. That was why. For people like Cast's parents to never exist? To prevent another Precious Wickham from escaping. To eradicate groups like the sisterhood entirely. At least that would be the things she'd do in a perfect world. Right now she was a frightened little girl, being held close by the son of an enemy. She hoped that what he was saying was going to be true, for selfish reasons. If they took him, if they took him and hurt him... If they changed him.. She was most likely dead.
As she felt her face turn red, listened to his voice, it was difficult to remain focused. Worried? Yes. She was... Worried. It was difficult for her to be worried with him so close? "I'm uh." Uh-huh. Yes, good. Classes were starting soon.. It might be good if she left? "I won't be around until late tonight, I have to help a friend with his studies. I'll be in the lounge for an hour after dinner." Hahaha.. Why was she telling him this?
