If you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything.

Ryan had found her way into her own common room after everyone had made sure she was alright. Beck had gone off somewhere with Billie, who had apparently been injured. Lis had been difficult to convince, but Ry had insisted she needed to go take a shower and new clothes. Everyone else was being led back by Jason, Ry knew they would be safe with the older boy on their way back. Just in case.
However, she had one person she'd wanted to find.
Hopefully the boy wouldn't be around to see her in the state she was in. The plan was to avoid mirrors until she absolutely had no choice, maybe she could wait before possibly getting sick.
Ryan was tired, the common room was fairly empty, but there was an intensity in the air that she couldn't shake. Fear. The Ravenclaw tried to collect herself, quietly looking over the room for anyone she might be close to, but there really was only one. Of course, he was not upstairs in his dorm, Castor was there in the common room. Ryan wrapped her arms around herself, not ready to face the boy. It would be unfair to try and avoid him, though, especially after she was sure he'd seen her.

Castor Greengrass had remained in the Ravenclaw Tower for the duration of the attack. The thought that his parents might be among those that had invaded but terrified and thrilled him; he found himself unable to leave. It might have been better that way. A confrontation with his biological parents would be disastrous. Or so he kept telling himself. There were many things he told himself, as time wore on. In the end, he was far from a man of action. Were his parents desperate to reach him, they would have undoubtedly been able to find him. Perhaps they weren't part of this ridiculous organization. Was that a good thing? Had their time in Azkaban somehow rehabilitated the macabre pair? Or were they too crazy for the Sisterhood? Wasn't that a thought.

There was a reason he stayed in the common room, despite the large amount of people and the panic about them. An group of aurors had shown up, and they were taking Ravenclaws down to the Great Hall in groups. The crowd had thinned significantly. Perhaps she was there already. Perhaps she was dead. His eyes remained on the entrance, he found himself unable to focus on anything, after the Sisterhood retreated. Ryan hadn't been here, during the attack. Had he remembered it, would he have left? She had been with some other guy, and that thought frustrated him to no end.

When she appeared, he thought perhaps he had dozed off and this before him was a nightmare. "Ryan!" The boy jumped out of his seat, not really thinking correctly at all. He grabbed for her. "Are you hurt?"

Ryan's body tensed as he jumped up and reached for her. Giving him a warning like she had to the others was going to be just as useless here. It wasn't like he couldn't see that she was covered in blood. "I-I'm not hurt?" Physically, everything was fine. She offered him a small smile. She would love to hug him, let him hold her for a little while, but she hesitated.
"Don't want to get to get any on you." She shrugged. Had he just been here the whole time? "I'm glad you are safe. I was afraid that.." She'd been terrified that something would happen to him, or that his parents would be around; find him somewhere, steal him away from her. At the thought of such a thing, she looked away. Such a silly child that she was, honestly. It was frustrating.
Another group of students were leaving. Ryan was quietly trying to see if Rodney was around, safe, even. So far she didn't see him, but he could have left already. A hand that wasn't covered in blood reached for one of his, "I really need to take a shower before I lose my dinner." She attempted to be casual, funny even. Beck was much better about making light of such things. Another weak smile. It was painful. She really would like to kiss him, or something, but that was probably more than out of the question, at least until she was cleaned up. "I probably look like such a wreck, I'm sorry you are seeing me this way." it felt like she told him things like that a lot. Was it silly to apologize? She didn't even know right now.

Castor saw her hesitate, his hand lowered. What was he doing? His eyebrows knit together. The sight of blood made him uncomfortable, especially on her. The Ravenclaw shrugged, although Ryan had looked away from him. So, they were both safe. Mostly. "It was difficult to believe anything went down at all from in here." The aurors had come, but nothing was really quite so eye opening as seeing her... like that. "Had I stayed in the dorm I might not have even paid any attention to the announcements." That was what happened when he got too immersed in a book. It was mostly meant as a joke, but he guessed neither of them felt much like smiling.

The Ravenclaw found himself unwilling to let her go, although it seemed stupid to put such a restriction on her now, after most of the danger had passed. He couldn't very well sit outside the room she was showering and wait for her to finish, could he? "Don't let me keep you," Cast didn't find it funny, in fact, it made him feel a little ill. "There isn't a lot of time." Whatever it was that had happened, it would probably be easier for her to talk about after she had cleaned the blood away. Someone else's blood. He wondered who it belonged to.

His expression lightened, somewhat, at her apology. "I think I can find it within myself to forgive you." That was a joke. "Go on, I'll wait for you." As long as he could anyway.

The girl nodded. She was glad that he didn't see the kind of things she'd seen, "That's a good way to be normally, just not now." She grinned. "I guess in this case it worked ok for you." The girl didn't need to ask about his parents. Right now all she cared about was that he and her own family were all safe; that was the most important thing to her.
"I know." She said, only going to move away because he'd suggested it. He was right, the aurors were trying to get them down to the Great Hall, and for good reason. It was probably easier to protect them if they were all together. Normally, something like this would only require a quick spell that her father had taught her and Lis ages ago, but she felt like she needed to scrub everything off of her.. like that was the only way that she would feel better, "I should just be a few minutes." Though she would have liked to take longer than the time she had. She let go of his hand and walked up to the dorm to take a shower and change.

On her way back down she was running, in a different outfit, cleaned completely from head to toe, though she still felt like she hadn't done enough scrubbing. Ryan had a strange sensation that the blood was still everywhere even though she know it wasn't. It was difficult to not look away as the blood was swirling down the drain. It made her feel sick, but she didn't have time to make herself feel much better. There would be no wearing that dress again. The garment was tossed in the trash, still stained with the blood of the two men that had been killed.
Castor was still in the common, but the room was practically empty, "I hope I wasn't too long." She swallowed, "They didn't bother you did they?" She asked him, voice lowered as she came closer to him. She still didn't feel like she was clean enough to get to close to him, that would be something he'd have to show he was ok with.
"I thought about some of the things that went on." Mostly about the werewolf, "I offered Lis to stay with her tonight. Beck is sending out a letter to my parents as soon as possible.." She looked up to the boy, "I'm going home for a little while. Not sure when I'll be back but.." Organize your thoughts, please. It was almost impossible now, as the girl realized how her leaving might make him feel, "I will be back." She attempted to reassure him, though it was probably useless. The Raveclaw had too many things she needed to complete, and she refused to leave behind the people she cared about because she was afraid. "When I.. told Lis I wanted to talk to you before I left, she got mad at me." She shook her head, afraid to start crying, "She probably wants nothing to do with me, but I really..." Ryan was more scared than she was acting, "I don't want to be alone?" It probably felt a bit unfair to ask him. Maybe she'd be able to talk to him about what happened.. if he wasn't going to push her away, after she had made a decision, too.

Cast waited, sitting on the steps leading toward the dormitories. They had yet to go through dorms looking for stragglers. Eventually he got tired of sitting and simply leaned against the door frame, thinking. Eyes lost in the dwindling fire until they watered. The book he had been reading was tucked under one arm. There would be no focusing back in on it. Ryan returned and he shrugged. "I'm still here." Which was all that was important. Ryan seemed not to want to be near him and he wasn't about to shove himself into her personal space after whatever she had just been through. Castor knew what it was like to deal with unwanted advances when you just needed your own space. He wouldn't do that to another person.

Ryan didn't look any better for having showered. Less bloody, but no less upset. Cast listened.

So, she was going home. Of course she was, and who knew if he would see her again? The bitterness he felt wasn't really directed at her, but at himself. It wasn't good to get attached to people. He knew that. Ryan wasn't leaving because of him, though, and he had no right to ask her to stay. Would he keep her here all holidays and over summer, too? Fucking stupid. It seemed like she might start crying. Cast remembered that most people weren't like him in regards to personal space boundaries and wrapped his arms around the younger girl. She needed to be around someone, and as he had so aptly articulated prior... He was still here. As for what he could say, though? Nothing came to mind.

It was good to hear Cast speak, but it was short lived. Understandably so, as she listened to herself speak. She figured he didn't know what to say to make her feel better. The girl couldn't blame him.
Then there was an arm around her, his. Oh God, stop the tears! Stop the tears! But it was too late, "One of these days I'll manage to not break into tears while I'm around you again." She promised, offering him a smile before pulling herself in closer to him.
"Alright you two, time to go." A female auror spoke up. She was surrounded by a group of different aged students, likely the last in the tower. Beck, at least, was going to be worried. She needed to go down with them. Ryan took Cast's hand, and the two were led along with the rest of the group down to the Great Hall.
