If you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything.

Lisbeth had awoken in the dead of night, a nightmare about her sister settled underneath her skin and made sleep impossible. The Slytherin couldn't remember the dream, only that if had been horrible. It left her worried. When she and Ryan were younger and shared the same room they would huddle in the same bed if one or the other had a nightmare. (These were quite frequent given their parents' penchant for horror movies.) She had hugged herself, attempting to calm jittery nerves but the walls seemed to be moving. A trick of the light, surely. The sound was persistent though, like thousands of bugs crawling across the walls. It made her skin itch.

The Slytherin had all but convinced herself she was a foolish idiot, and all over her twin when a man stepped out of the shadows. Machete in hand, hockey mask in place. Lis had screamed and bolted out of the room, not even caring if someone was playing a prank. Not that it would make sense for any of the purebloods in her house to know of Jason Voorhees. There was a distinct irony as she ran through the dungeons, up to the main floor, in this chase. If she had been in the Forbidden Forest, tripping over a root, the picture would truly be complete. "You're running for her."

"I'm not!" Lis wasn't sure who the voice belonged to, or why she felt the need to defend herself against it. "Of course you are." The Slytherin didn't know if she should keep running. She didn't know where to run to. The Headmaster's office? She didn't know what was real anymore. There might have been people, as she was passing through the corridors but the Slytherin was in firm denial as to whether or not those were actual people... "I don't care, I'm just trying not to die!" If this was a nightmare, it felt far more real than anything she could remember. Or, perhaps, it was always this way?

"You care. She could be dead." Lis stopped running, her breaths coming in heavy gasps as she sobbed. "You stop talking!" She shrieked, almost incoherently.
Sometimes I’m shedding my skin, and sometimes I’m carving it off my bones.

If you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything.

It was a cold night, as Ryan had fallen asleep close to the warm body of Cast. The blanket wasn't enough.

She couldn't seem to shake some feeling. At first it wasn't fear, but goosebumps grew, and the hair stood on the back of her neck in waves. She hadn't been fully aware at the time that things had changed, still in partial sleep, even as Cast's hands shook her awake. Once her eyes snapped open, something seemed very wrong. It was more than cold in this room, though she could see her breath.

They seemed to be alone in the room. The place was void of what was normal. It felt as though the walls were crawling. with something. Ryan was quick to jump from the bed. The thing seemed to disappear from sight. Had it vanished or simply fallen away? She had to still be asleep, but she wasn't waking up. When a dark figure seemed to pull itself from the void and come towards them, she felt cold, too cold to move. Maybe she'd pass out. Maybe she'd die and wake up. She always woke up right before she died. It took a moment for her to hear the voice that had been trying to reach her all night long. Before it was bits and pieces; quiet, from some nightmare she'd thought she'd forgotten long ago. Where was Lis?

The figure moved forward, but the thought of her sister no where near her seemed to give her the strength to move. The figure switched from masculine to feminine. Ryan understood who these where, but if Cast was seeing it..

Cast.

"They're after me." And Lis... and him. She turned suddenly, all of it somehow making sense to her, and grabbed a hold of his arm and pulled him to where she could still see the door, though it was fading. This felt too real. What the fuck was going on? The door pulled open and she let go of his arm, running down the stairs towards the common room. She needed to find Lisbeth, she needed him to be with her. Had everyone else been swallowed by that void?

The fight down the stairs seemed longer than normal. Cast was able to keep up, standing close by her, fighting away what she couldn't. It felt like no one else in the school existed. The closer they got towards the dungeons the farther it felt. Like the fight wasn't worth it, and she should just give in, accept it. No. She would find Lis, before she woke up.

It felt like the people chasing them were not far behind at any point. She refused to look behind her. That's how you fell and got killed. Yes, things you learned from muggle horror films, always keep your eyes in front of you, no matter what.

It seemed like the dungeons had completely vanished. "No." Ryan breathed. It seemed the entire area was too warped to make any bit of sense. That's when the sound of crying came to her.

She doesn't care. She said so herself. More crying. It was Lis. Lis was sobbing. Ryan could hear her, but her twin was no where in sight, and she had had no clue how to get to her. Until now, all she'd felt was fear, now she beginning to feel hopelessness creep in.

"Liar." She tried to fight the voice and focus on the sound of crying. As long as she could.. just.. She held out her hand in the direction it seemed to be coming from, attempting to manipulate the sound around her. Unfortunately, the voice seemed almost.. organic. There was no escaping it as the wails suddenly became quieter, and Ryan found herself straining to find it again.

She ran to hide. She doesn't want you near her at all. She came for you last time, but she didn't give you a moment of thought. What you did was.. unforgivable. She wants to be alone, and that's how she'll die.

"This way." She instructed the man that, for some reason, had managed to find it in him to keep going with her. The farther she pushed, the closer the voice sounded. Somehow, she'd managed to find a door within the place.

They were outside. The courtyard had changed drastically. Lisbeth Elliot had fallen to the ground, something towered over her as she huddled into herself in fear. Ryan drew her wand, and instantly the figure looked to her. Jason Voorhees. She would have fallen back in fear if she was alone, too. Ryan still felt as though someone was breathing down the back of her neck, the voice was still trying to convince her to back away. She was scared, but trying hard to be strong here. She started to run towards Lis and the killer in front of her. This had to be a dream, none of this made any sense.

John ran out into the courtyard, his bloody nose dying his front red and leaving a trail of blood droplets that revealed his path outside. He stopped when he realized he was outside. The black mist surrounded the courtyard, making it impossible to see any of the surrounding landscape.

But it was the large figure that towered before Bax that made him give in to the sinking feeling of despair that he'd been trying to hold back since the night began. A mountain of a man, wearing a hockey mask and brandishing a machete! The monster that had been the cause of many sleepless nights in his childhood, and he was standing just mere feet away: Jason Voorhees!

"Wud deh bugging did!" was all he could say due to the damage to his nose.

Bax fell down on his fat arse.

"Wud deh bugging did!" he repeated.

It was from his position on the ground that Bax finally noticed the figure lying beneath Jason--oh damn, Bax couldn't even fathom how his brain wasn't breaking merely from referring to the actual movie monster in the flesh--as well as the other two students.

We're dead, cried the terrified voice in Bax's head, This is Camp Crystal Lake and we are dead!

Castor Greengrass never slept well. The thoughts that kept him up at night of such an entrancing nature that he hardly even noticed his dorm spinning out of control. Only when it became apparent that Ryan was in danger, from what he wasn't quite certain, did he wake her. It was cold, and he was glad that his wand was with him, and not on the night table. As anything beyond the bed seemed to no longer exist. The thought didn't quite scare him, as it seemed to terrify Ryan. In fact, he didn't feel much beyond a vague concern... though he could hear his heart beating clearly behind his ears.

It was her who found the courage to pull them out of the room. He remembered trying to light the candles in the room with magic, but his spell had been sucked right into the void... Only after they were out of the room did he think of the others trapped within it. They were running down the stairs, then. Although they could not outrun the terror on their heels. Every spell cast only seemed futile. He wasn't even sure where they were going, or why. He just knew he couldn't leave Ryan to fend for herself, without him watching her back she would have been snatched into the void long ago.

They stopped abruptly. Castor almost ran the smaller girl over. He panted heavily. Whatever she was talking to, he couldn't hear it. Everything grew really quiet, and he thought he heard it... A faint whispering. "Ryan..." The Ravenclaw spoke, his back to hers, wand at the ready, but she wasn't listening to him. There were other people nearby, he could hear them, too. There were things. He didn't want to be near any of it, he didn't want to go where she was being led. Something told him that they wouldn't be safe anywhere else.

"Stop for a second--" He insisted, as she burst through a door. All he could see, suddenly, was the attacker. All other sounds were lost to him. In his disorientation he mistook one twin for the other and acted without thinking. "Petrificus totalus!" And the attacker was frozen in place.

Something strange happened, then.

The spell continued to channel.

Castor realized that releasing the spell would allow the villain to murder the girl beneath him, but the magic seemed to be draining the energy right out of his body. The Ravenclaw gasped in shock at the light flutter of his heart, but the magic persisted, even if only for a little longer...

Lisbeth was on the ground, hands over her ears. Clearly convinced that this would protect her from danger. It had always worked against the thunder storms, as a child... No one would come to save her. She would die alone and the world would be better off. "Nobody needs you." The voice tormented, though it was merely rubbing salt in the wounds. Lis was already broken. Sobbing. Come what may.

The heavy footsteps of Jason Voorhees approached in that daunting manner. Steady. Sure. She could hear them over the blood surging in her veins, through the makeshift earplugs. He could get hit by a train and keep walking. The assurance of a kill didn't quicken his pace and she felt her heart stop anew every time a foot hit the ground. Her crying was high pitched and panicked. Why couldn't he just walk a bit faster?

This was such a lame way to die.

The footsteps stopped. The universe was being cruel today. Tear stained eyes were forced away from the ground. A deep and shuddering breath was taken in as she stared up at the frozen villain. He was far more intimidating in real life. "I don't..." What was going on?

Another person fell out of a door into the courtyard. He seemed to know the masked man himself. It took a moment for Ryan to realize that Jason Voorhees was frozen. The Hufflepuff was yelling something out, but it was hard to understand. Were there others with him? Were there more creatures following him? Ryan fell, skinning her knees against the cobblestone ground as her arms wrapped around her twin.

She was breathing heavily, her sight was dizzied from lack of oxygen as she cried into her twin's shoulder. Last time, they had had some kind of protection. It seemed that if this was real, they were in much worse danger. She was trying to think about a way to get out. "What is going on?!" She said suddenly to the Hufflepuff. If there were other things happening, they needed to get out of here as soon as possible. Hogsmeade, beyond, if they had to, but they would need to probably stick together. She reached for her wand, it wasn't with her. Fuck.

That's when she realized Castor wasn't close to her. Quickly, her eyes sought him out.

Back behind her, looking weakened, was where he was. He'd frozen the killer, the dark green steam was continuing to pull from his wand. The fact that it wasn't stopping was abnormal. What the hell was happening? She pulled Lis up, "C'mon, we need to get out of here." And Ryan didn't have a plan, She was leading her sister back towards Cast. They could get out of the courtyard and make their way back out.. to Hogsmeade. Or they could stay and try to push Voorhees into the school and blockade themselves in somehow, until someone came for them.. or something.

The murderer was beginning to move again, striking in the area he'd been aiming for before the girls had moved.. Ryan heard the footsteps getting closer to them and had no clue what to do. She was beginning to panic.

Something sparked next to her, a flash of light from the hand of her sister, who'd turned back to the killer and aimed the flames toward him. Ryan's eyes widened at the sight, but the man.. or whatever the thing was, let out a cry, but continued to make it's way over to them. Ryan tried to think, anything anything. She was breathing heavily again... Oxygen. She manipulated the air around them, making even herself feel dizzy, as oxygen rushed at the creature, feeding the flames that engulfed him. He fell to the ground, writhing in pain, screaming. The Ravenclaw winced at the sound, but soon the noise died down.

Was he gone? She waved the Hufflepuff over to them, with the hopes that the man knew more than they did about what was happening.

With Voorhees apparently gone down in flames, Baxter saw his opportunity to stand up and run towards Ryan Elliot as she called him over. Blood dripped from his nose as he ran, leaving a trail. He used his yellow tie in vain to halt the flow.

"Ib be beb?" he aksed, "Wubs bobin ob?"

Baxter's face was a mass of blood, anxiety, confusion, and guilt. He couldn't put his finger on it why, but he didn't like being in the courtyard. Something bad happened here, he could smell it in the air.

"Be bould binb a bufessor," Baxter advised. Where were all the professors? Or was that part of the horror? It had just occurred to John that Jason couldn't be real. He had to have been an illusion of some kind. Maybe it was all an illusion. Maybe his friends...

Baxter felt his stomach drop into his feet. He was weighed down by something inside his throat, which pulled at him from the direction of the center of the courtyard. His eyes went wide with shock and horror as he remembered again what had happened.

Peter...Anne...Madison...all dead. All because of me.

"Guy billb bum," he muttered, "Guy billb bum..." he said again, hands shaking.

Castor felt mildly annoyed as the twin's shared a hug instead of fleeing out from underneath the terror frozen by his magic. Had it just been Lis there he might have ended the spell already. (Were his parents the sort of people that compared the value of life... and determined who was worth keeping alive? The thought sickened him further.) The spell continued to sap at his life force until his knees buckled and gave way beneath him. The Ravenclaw slumped to the ground, holding onto the spell only just long enough to assure their escape. He panted heavily, his heart beat somehow faint and frantic all at the same time. Each beat pained him and his hand clutched at his chest.

Was this what dying felt like?

After awhile he was more aware of his surroundings. There was a burst of flame and it seemed they were safe for awhile. The three were conversing. Sort of. He hadn't heard Lis say a thing, and the Hufflepuff boy he hadn't noticed until now was speaking some bizarre form of gibberish. Every sentence threatened at comprehension, but never quite made it full circle. "Shut up, think." The Ravenclaw managed, his tone quite bitter through the pain in his chest. Would rationality help them in a situation like this?

He didn't know. "We won't get out of the castle." The Ravenclaw wasn't entirely certain how they had gotten here, but nothing was as it had been and were he the one controlling this nightmare, he certainly wouldn't allow any of his victims to escape. A Professor was their next best bet. Someone who was powerful, and could maybe protect them until someone figured out how to return normalcy. "Where's th-" Vines had crawled up around his legs, they constricted around the appendages with startling force and he gasped in shock. The rest of his body wavered like a leaf in the wind before he slouched over in defeat, fist connecting with the ground. Castor yelled out in pain.

The vines continued up and around his body, perhaps hoping to crush him into the ground.

If you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything.

Lis felt surprise as someone hugged her. "How'd-" She had wanted to ask, but it seemed her voice was failing her. The Slytherin girl was trembling something fierce as her sister pulled her away from one of the most resilient villains to ever have been created. She was certain she had seen the terrifying man start to resist the spell cast upon him and continue his swing. She screamed as the machete hit the ground, though it was nowhere near striking either of them.

The Slytherin wasn't sure what caused her to shake her sister off, but she saw the murdered start to pursue them once more and fire sprang up from her palm. Normally, when she set people on fire it was through accidental contact. This was quite deliberate. Ryan responded as though they had choreographed this attack many times, and her elementium was amplified. Jason Voorhees was a human bonfire.

She watched as he the murderer sank to the ground, as though defeated. Perhaps even dead. Lis didn't trust it. She'd seen him survive far too many things to believe it.

"Your nose..." Was all she could say to the Hufflepuff, who looked like he might have been one of those terrors that were coming out of nowhere to torment them all. Realizations were coming a little slowly. Information was hardly being processed at all. He seemed pretty traumatized too. "It's alright..." Not the older boy's nose, obviously... But whatever he was so torn up about. Not that she had any idea if it actually was alright. It was just something you said to people who obviously weren't. Comfort wasn't her forte, and her voice was so faint that her words would likely have gone unnoticed even if Castor had not spoken over them. He demanded silence. Lis glared at her saviour.

"And where is thinking going to get us?!" She shrieked angrily, although the words felt strangely dispassionate in comparison to his yelling.

Lis had paused. Ryan knew what she was thinking. What if he comes back? That's what Jason Voorhees did. He just didn't stay dead. She wanted to say something, but her twin had already spoken to the Hufflepuff. Automatically, the Ravenclaw grabbed for her wand to try to fix the boy's nose. Dammit, not there, right.

Cast yelled out. He was right, but Lis was opposed to the idea. The Ravenclaw had been meaning to ask her twin politely for her wand to fix John's nose, but when she realized that Cast was in trouble, Ryan had no time to think. She reached down her twin's shirt quickly for the girl's wand, "Relashio!" She yelled, as she caught up to Castor. The vines began to loosen their grip on him quickly, cowering in fear at the sparks released from the wand. They crawled their way up the walls of the castle. Ryan got down and thought to reach out to him, touch him.. but was unsure if she should. He was breathing, but had obviously been in pain.

"Do you need help standing?" She was afraid for him, just wanted to help...

It's your fault that he's there in the first place. Ryan's eyes widened at the voice. She'd forgotten it was there, it had been so quiet for a while. Her head snapped to look behind her, where she thought she'd heard the voice come from. Why would he want you're help? You obviously care about your sister more than you do him. He knows that now, doesn't he? He didn't trust you before, and now he never will. Ryan didn't speak back to the voice as she had before. This time, Ryan was less sure. Yes, Lis was annoyed with her, but Lis was her sister. Nothing could actually keep them apart if they both wanted it. They loved one another, there was no way that Lis truly hated her.

Cast was a different story. This time, the voice spoke the truth. He wasn't entirely trusting of her, but that seemed to how he was with.. everyone. She'd been able to overlook it until now, when it had so suddenly smacked her in the face. What was he thinking about her now, as he lay there in a bad state, and because she had decided to leave him behind and get to her sister?

Ryan wanted to feel ashamed of herself. This thing, whatever it was, was trying to drag her down; lower than she'd ever felt before. Tears formed in her eyes. Somewhere, she knew that no matter what happened, she should try to keep her mind clear, but it was going to be difficult, now.

Castor had been right earlier, they needed a plan, and if she was focused on being angry at herself, she would be useless to them. Both he and John had suggested that they find a professor. That made sense, but with the way that everything had been inside.. and even out here in the courtyard.. she had no clue how they'd find someone. Cylas would be home, asleep.. or trying to. That was if what was happening was only going on here. She went to help Cast up. Any healing that he needed would be from both of them, but it needed to be quick. She didn't know what to say to anyone at that moment.
