Summary of Important Information: - Headmaster Albus Dumbledore was murdered two years ago (Year 5) at the End of Term Feast. - Hundreds of students and staff witnessed Jordanna Bauer murder Dumbledore at the End of Term Feast and remove one of his fingers. - Since then, Hogwarts has fallen into disuse, with only the first three floors seeing much activity. - Hogwarts has become unstable in recent years. Strange, yet often subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) occurrences have been observed, leading many students to remark (in some manner) that things "just aren't right" about their surroundings. (see the descriptions of the different areas of Hogwarts Castle for more information). - Hogsmeade is now the center of activity for the broader wizarding community. - Hogsmeade has expanded greatly because of this, and is now self-governing and nearly self-sufficient. The sovereignty of Hogwarts has now extended to the town, and they form one community. - Hogsmeade is a safe haven from an increasingly tumultuous outside world. - Many of the international staff and students from Year 5 also live, work and school in Hogsmeade - A small council lead by Aberforth Dumbledore oversees the Hogsmeade community with a council of elected members, while Gabrielle La Reine acts as Headmistress of Hogwarts. - Most of Hogwarts' staff (as well as international staff) now serve leadership roles in the community, in addition to continuing to teach. - Many upper-classmen and recently-graduated students work closely under their former professors for the community. - Hogsmeade contains its own independent law enforcement (some of whom also work as Aurors for the Ministry). It works together with, but is wholly separate from, the Ministry for Magic. - See HERE for common knowledge and timeline concerning events in this generation before the 2033-2034 school year. What to Expect: - The Hogsmeade community is self-governing and self-sufficient. There is a lot that needs done here. As such, if you are looking for something to do, try setting up a business or filling a niche required within the community. - There are many things that need doing: Protecting the people from monsters and dark wizards, solving criminal investigations, running stores and bars, teaching classes, and more. Now's the time to be creative and write your own stories, free of the confines of the previous school system. - At Hogwarts castle, strange things have been happening ever since Dumbledore's death. Often subtle, sometimes not, it's not so much that things are dangerous here, but that odd or disturbing things keep happening nonetheless. - Periodically, a number of "missions" will be organized. These will generally be diplomacy-based. Because people like to RP parties for some reason. - These missions will be done in a sandbox style (to accommodate how most wish to roleplay on this site). However, they will have precise goals in mind, and specific challenges to overcome. Moreover, the NPC characters will be handed out to RPers so that there's not just one person controlling everything. The outcomes of these missions are left open to the decisions of the participants. They can be failed. ** If you've a suggestion or an outline for a Mission RP, please PM me. Edited by Peter Macmillan, Jul 31 2017, 03:30:18 AM.

The Hogsmeade Council The Hogsmeade Council is a semi-elected governing body for Hogsmeade. It consists of prominent members of the community and ambassadors from other groups such as the Centaurs and the Ministry for Magic. The role play component to this is that, from time time, decisions will be made in character about the future of Hogsmeade and council members will vote** to decide what course to take. They will also vote on criminal cases as well. Essentially, they're a mini-wizengamot. Currently, the council consists of: Aberforth Dumbledore (chair) Bannishtar (Ambassador for Centaurs) Terry Boot (Liaison to the Auror's Office) Gabrielle La Reine (Overseer for Magical Education) Rubeus Hagrid Please PM me if you wish to add your character(s) to the council roster. **(Note that if you have more than one character on the council, you will only receive one vote nonetheless on any decisions being made. If your characters have contradicting opinions, pick one to be your official opinion). |
