The Wickham Family entered Madam Puddifoot's, polished nicely and well-dressed. Theodore kept his head down as he followed his parents to the back. When his father was around he had to be extremely polite, passive, and answer any questions directed at him honestly. It was the high regard he had for his father, and his father's high hopes for him that transformed Teddy into the perfect child for his parents. Theodore slid in the booth beside Dolly. "Why do we have to go here?" He asked. "The smell is too sweet. It kind of makes me want to puke." "Theodore, this isn't about you. This is about your father visiting." Precious placed her palm over her husband's hand. "He makes everything about him." Dolly scowled. "Look who's talking. Father, did you know Dolores has been causing trouble with Ariella Carmichael? It's giving our house a bad reputation." "It wasn't me--" "Hush!" Precious quieted her child and ... half child. Dolly rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, while Theodore looked away form her. |

Jane stumbled into Madame Puddifoot's, pleased with her successful trek from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade. It wasn't easy walking in Megan's body - Jane wasn't used to the larger feet and longer limbs. The group had to walk quicker because of the time shortage, but Jane managed. She had a bit trouble at the check out because she wasn't sure how Megan Calvet sounded or how she spoke. Regardless, Jane put on her best big-girl impersonation and passed the check point. Jane leaned against the bar as she surveyed the pub. There was the Wickham family, entirely attractive and properly dressed. Jane rolled her eyes. "Gotcha you little shits." She whispered. She waited patiently for Ariella and the rest of Jane's group to appear. |

In a haze of Polyjuice Potion adrenaline, Carmen's heart was pounding nervously in her chest as she followed Jane into Madam Puddifoot's with her arm still guiding Dave with Beck and Luna following close behind. It was strange seeing others looking at her in such a way that they were intimidated by her; even the feel of her body was different. With the gang, they took a seat and watched quietly. "Where there's a Wickham," whispered Carmen, "There's a Carmichael. Just wait." Edited by Carmen Gray-Winters, Aug 1 2013, 10:52:34 PM.

Ariella entered Madam Puddifoot's and paused briefly, taking it all in. The air was full of laughter and clinking silverware on porcelain; Ariella not only spotted several Slytherin's glancing at her from the corner, but the Wickham's were enjoying family time. Ariella forced a smile, but a sour feeling was rising in her throat. Her mother hadn't been anywhere near Ariella all morning, and they certainly weren't the type to go on little family outings. It all seemed so dreadfully foreign to her. Still forcing a smile, Ariella approached the Wickhams. "Good afternoon," she said, trying to sound as pleasant as possible, hoping the bitterness in her tone was well-disguised. "How are you, Precious? Hope classes have been going well." She also smiled at Precious's husband, her godfather, and then glanced at Teddy and Dolores. "Hate to interrupt, but I see some other Slytherin's in the corner," smiled Ariella, glancing at Dolly meaningfully. What better way to spend the afternoon than bullying the older students? I mean, really, age was just a number when you were as bloody stupid and emotional as Millicent or Pansy. "Maybe you two would like to join me? I'm sure your parents would love the break from your incessant bickering. Am I right?" |

"Good afternoon, Ariella." Precious flashed her a welcoming smile. "They have been. I've been keeping my students in check." Precious reassured her. She smiled as she remembered back to the first day of classes where she terrorized the first years. She couldn't wait to tell Collin about her adventures in teaching. "I'm in," Theodore said quickly. He quickly stood, before realizing his mistake. He sat back down in the seat and turned to his parents. "May Dolly and I join Ariella?" Theodore asked politely. He flashed Ariella a 'shut up' look. "Go." said Precious. "Your father and I have matters to discuss." The two blondes rose from their seats and accompanied Ariella to the opposite corner. "Thanks for the save," Dolly said. "I think I was going to puke if I had to see her look lovingly at him again." Theodore rolled his eyes. "Big bad Slytherins." Theodore mused as he crossed his arms. "Whoa," Dolly's eyes widened as she stared at Pansy. "I think your body had a hard time determining if it wanted an X or a Y chromosome." |

Just as Carmen predicted, Ariella arrived shortly after the Wickham's. However, she was alone. Jane felt a small bit of sympathy for the girl - until she and her cronies approached the older Slytherins. Jane unintentionally snickered at Dolores' insult. "Umm, hi." Jane said nervously. She glanced at the other Slytherins before clearing her throat. "Well aren't you the cutest thing. I want to pinch your cheeks!" laughed Jane. Dolores' questioning stare forced Jane to fall silent. "S-so you're Theodore, right?" asked Jane. "I've heard a lot about you." Her pupils dilated as she took in the site of the handsome boy. It was a blessing that he was her age - well, Jane's age. "Yeah, you're like the prince or something." Jane snickered again. "Or so everyone says." |

Carmen shot Jane a look before staring up at the trio that had just approached them; this was it. "Why don't you guys sit?" She forced everyone to make room for them, shoving their shoulders and widening her eyes imploringly. "There's enough room for all of us." She inhaled shakily. "Of course he's a prince," she snapped at Jane. "His mom's Professor Wickham. Headmistress Wickham." She smiled flatteringly at the trio, elbow ready to ram Dave in the ribs if he dare let out another unflattering sniffle. "And Ariella," grinned Carmen--errr, Millicent. "is the daughter of Inquisitor Carmichael. Aren't your mothers friends from school?" Edited by Carmen Gray-Winters, Aug 1 2013, 10:45:50 PM.

Cackling meanly at Dolores's joke, Ariella slipped into her seat as directed by Millicent Bulstrode. Ariella glanced at her critically. She tried too hard, with a too-eager smile on her shaky, pale face, which was unusual since Millicent always looked like she had a bit of dung pressed up underneath her nose. Ariella forced herself to stop staring, feeling strange about the entire situation they had found themselves in; when in doubt, be mean. "Of course they're friends," smirked Ariella. "Best since third year or something like that. Why?" Eyebrows arched, she frowned at them all. "I'll understand if you all are jealous. Must be strange with underclassmen having more power than you and all. But don't think being nice to us will get you any favors," said Ariella sternly. She watched as some of the fifth years squirmed uncomfortably in their seats. Glancing curiously at Teddy and Dolly, she arched an eyebrow and shrugged it off. Maybe they'd been drinking... butterbeer, of course. "Wonder what my mother's up to today, anyway," shrugged Ariella. "Haven't seen her since she had to pull that nasty Sirius Black off of me. Isn't it such a shame she's a Black? Waste of blood if you ask me." |

Luna skipped, no, walked merrily...wait, solemnly into Puddifoots with the rest of her group. She could not recall ever setting foot in the odd teashop, but it smelled surprisingly of cats and sickly sweet perfume. The scent was not absolutely repulsive, but the Ravenclaw would not likely choose to spend lingering periods of time here if she could avoid it. The few times she had been to Hogsmeade with her father the pair had chosen to spend a jolly old time in the Hog's Head or the Three Broomsticks. They made the occasional visit to Honeydukes or Dervish and Bangs, which always made the trip well worth it, but she had not explored many other parts of the small village. Resisting the urge to sing a song of delight, the "Oh, Theodore! Your family is awfully quaint. How delightful it was to see them!" She said a little too enthusiastically, her eyes practically leaping from their sockets. "And what is your darling sisters name again?" Her eyes fell curiously onto Delores, who happened to be sitting at the table with them. "You're such a cutie-pie." Was she being too sweet for a Slytherin? Augustus entered the teashop, a scowl carved across his normally handsome features. He had followed the odd gathering of Slytherins from a distance in the hopes for some decent company. Ariella and Teddy had been nowhere to be seen that morning, and he didn't fancy spending any time with the other years. It was just his luck that he followed this particular group of kids because inside their rather queer choice of shops was none other than Teddy, Delores, and Ariella, all gathered around a large table with the kids he had followed. "What a delight!" Augustus cooed as he approached their table, "All of my favorite people in one place. Although I would hardly call this putrid establishment a good time, it feels more like a prison..." He laughed loudly, and slid into an empty seat without seeking an invitation. They would accept his presence here, they always did. "You look dashing, Ariella. Did you do something new with your hair, Delores?" He turned to each of the woman at the table and give them his best compliments. Finally, he turned to the neighboring Daphne Greengrass. "You seem suspiciously cheery today, Miss Greengrass. Have you been spending time with a boy? Perhaps," He dropped his voice so only the Fifth Year girl could hear, "Mister Malfoy has finally come to his good senses? I always knew Lucius was a good chap." Daphne looked at him blankly for a moment, and he regarded her curiously. Wasn't it true that she had liked the blonde for years? Was he mistaken? He could have been, except her moment of hesitation seemed to have passed and she giggled loudly. "You know I only have eyes for you!" Daphne teased and nudged him in the ribs with one of her pointy elbows. He winced in pretend pain. "Now, now, you can't go saying things like that! You'll never get the boy if you do." |

Collin smiled as his wife placed her hands atop his, slightly scarred from his most recent encounter with a troublesome Peruvian Vipertooth. A relatively small dragon, he'd managed to wrangle the thing himself, narrowly escaping the venomous bite of the copper-colored creature. Not that he liked to brag, but he'd managed to do it all with his bare hands, relying on brute strength, passion, and a little insanity. All to keep up a respectable career to help support his family. Nonetheless, the trip out here wasn't about his conquests. He wanted to know how his wife was adjusting to the new school year, and keep tabs on young Theodore. He frowned as his son and niece tried to run off without excusing himself but softened to a smile as he corrected his mistake. He would have to get the details on his school work from Precious. He tried to raise Theodore the same way his parents raised him, although he attempted to utilize his high expectations as a growth chart rather than a burden. "I've missed you," he said, bringing his wife's petite hand to his lips. He could feel the eyes of Precious' potions pupils staring at the couple. Quite probably wondering how such a good looking, well-rounded, pure-blooded family could possibly exist. He was also rather certain he was having a lightheaded effect upon the girls as they caught their first glimpse of Precious' enigma of a husband. "How has your first week of classes gone?" he asked, lowering her hand yet continuing to stroke it reassuringly with his thumb. He knew how his wife could get, sometimes, under stress. He noted the faint lines in her forehead with concern. He was sure his wife had no trouble keeping them in line, but he knew not all children were like Theodore. "And I've brought something for you," he said, flashing a close-lipped smile. He knew by this point in their time together his wife was probably expecting it, not that she'd ever admit it. Collin was brought up to be reminded gifts were not only a display of affection, but also a social elevator when done in public. He liked to show off what he'd earned. Collin reached into his neatly pressed robes and extracted a small box. He pushed it across the table to her and gently lifted her hands onto the small black velvet ribbon that tied it shut. Inside was a necklace adorned with the pearly scale of an Antipodean Opaleye dragon. Specifically, one named Hindert. Not that he'd ever tell his wife he'd named a dragon after her, although the Opaleyes were often considered the least aggressive dragons. Not that he'd tell her that, either. It was just that Collin was still, even in his thirties, a restless man who needed to be constantly reminded he had a wife and family at home when he was stuck in Romania. It did him good to sit and think of his wife as he fed the young dragon a bucket a brandy and chicken blood. |

"You could say that." Teddy responded to Megan's inquiry. She seemed to find the idea - in which Theodore took seriously - amusing, Teddy narrowed his eyes at her. He had seen her in the common rooms but never took the time to talk to her. He liked being with people his own age. These fifth year Slytherins seemed to be stroking his ego, which was extremely odd because usually, it would be the other way around. Teddy frowned at the Slytherins across from him. He shrugged it off, considering that it was the full moon contributing to their strange behavior. "Thank you." Theodore responded to Daphne's compliment. "We carry ourselves with a lot of pride." He motioned to his father, handsomely dressed in an expensive suit, and his mother, looking dashing as always, in a custom-made dress. "Awfully chirpy today, aren't you Mercury?" smirked Theodore. |

Dolly wrinkled her nose. She hated being called cute. "Touch my cheeks and you'll lose your fingers." spat Dolly. Strange, Dolly never had a Slytherin tell her they wanted to touch her cheeks. Lolita cleared her throat as she glanced around the pub, expecting ... no one in particular, but the older Slytherins were making it painfully awkward. "My name is Dolores." "Yeah, our mothers have been sisters since their time at Hogwarts." explained Dolores. "As we are right now. It just passes on," She glanced at Ariella beside her. Dolly felt her cheeks burn as Augustus took notice of her. "No, but thanks for noticing." She giggled. She could feel Teddy cast a questioning glare at her, but she shrugged it off. "I think it's super cool that both of our mom's have high positions." sighed Lolita. "I think it was just a coincidence, but giving two Queen Bee's promotions is really giving their friendship an advantage." Dolly had a glint in her eye. One day, she hoped to be like Precious Wickham: always dressed in jewels, frightening, and jaw-droppingly beautiful. |

"I've missed you too," Precious replied softly. Collin Wickham, the only human being that could physically and emotionally bring her to her knees. He was her king, and by this point in time, without him she was nothing. Together, the two created the epitome of the pureblood, wealthy, attractive couple. Though they biologically only had one child, with Dolly in the picture they created a perfect image of a well-balanced family. "Slightly irritating," sighed the potions mistress. "First years had the most difficult concept of staying on task. I nearly docked everyone's points." She anxiously twirled her wedding band around her finger. "At the dinner later that day, that bitch Cosette McKelvey confronted me about giving her children a hard time." Precious smiled. "It's not my fault your halfblood little savages are uneducated. Keep the animals at home if they're not ready." She shrugged. It caused her more stress than it needed to. "Oh, Collin. You shouldn't have." The humble side of Precious Wickham flashed, smitten over the thought that her husband had brought her a gift. She watched him retrieve the small box from his robes, eyes hungry for the surprise. She smiled at him before slowly unwrapping the ribbon and opening the box. "It's beautiful!" She gasped, throwing her arms around his neck. She retracted, amazed at the beautiful necklace rested in the box. "How did you get it?" asked Precious. "Would you be a dear and put it on me?" She grabbed her hair and held it on the crown of her head. Then, she faced her back to him, waiting patiently for him to place the beautiful jewelry around her neck. "How is work anyway? Are you being safe around those dragons?" Precious asked, feeling a sense of pride. Her husband got to work with dragons. How many children got to say that their father had a dangerous job that demanded high respect? |

Tinsley entered Madam Puddifoot's just in time to see the foolish genuine smile of Precious's return. As Precious's face was pulled back into a smile as she threw her arms around the neck of her husband; smirking, Tinsley managed a wave before walking past the couple. The least Precious could do was be mindful of Tinsley's situation; it wasn't every day that your husband went missing, and poor Tinsley was just so heartbroken that another father figure had walked out of Ariella's life, conveniently leaving a life insurance policy worth Galleons... but nevertheless, his mysterious disappearance was just so traumatizing... Smiling, Tinsley looked around Madam Puddifoot's peacefully. Yes, it was terribly traumatizing, wasn't it? Spotting her daughter with Theodore and Dolores, Tinsley marched over to the table. From behind her daughter she placed a hand upon her head, patting down blonde fly away hairs from her ornate headband. "Hello, students." She eyed the unfamiliar faces, recognizable as older. "Oh yes, Pansy. Your father and I are quite close. And Ms. Bulstrode; give your mother my absolute best." She said this in a sarcastic tone, one that may have been worrying to someone who would pick up on it, but one that could also easily go unnoticed as friendliness. "You look like you're having quite a bit of fun, aren't you?" |

I SEE A BAD MOON RISING
![]()
|
It was a peaceful Emma Gray that peeked into the doorway of Madam Puddifoot's, searching for a petite, wide-eyed girl with her smile and her husband's brown hair. It was strange that for her first visit to Hogsmeade, Emma had yet to stumble upon her daughter, Carmen, who she expected to see knee-deep in jokes from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. If anything, she expected to hear Carmen's shrill, calculating voice in a tone of indignant disbelief: "Love potions?! Why would anyone want those? And why are they just marketed to girls? Sexism!" Emma laughed to herself, perfectly imagining her daughter; all traces of laughter disappeared from her face, however, as she caught eyes with Tinsley Carmichael. She should have known better than to find Carmen among these frilly doilies and proper teacups, but she should have braced herself for this. Emma's eyes still locked with Tinsley's, she cleared her throat and approached Madam Puddifoot herself, who was standing, surveying the crowd pleasantly, her lined face accentuated by the tight black bun sitting atop her stout head. "My dear Madam," beamed Emma, leaning in to kiss both of her cheeks, "have you seen Min anywhere? She's playing Hide and Seek with me, I think." "You don't think she came here with a boy?" giggled Madam Puddifoot, cheeks as plump as the many golden cherubs adorning her teashop. "I'm sure if she was," smirked Emma, "she'd be right here, sipping tea with him, blushing like a red cherry." Emma felt the back of her neck tingle unpleasantly, and she turned around to meet the darkness of Tinsley's eyes once again. She heard Madam Puddifoot inhale sharply behind her. "That woman is no good," she whispered. |

In a flash of fury, the wheat blonde hair framing Emma Gray's face began to make Tinsley's palms sweat with absolute wanting. She could almost smell the woman's perfume on the nape of her neck, almost see the sweetness swimming in her foolish blue eyes, and almost feel the softness of her hands that were now on Madam Puddifoot's shoulders. Ignoring the students resolutely, her eyes were glued to Emma, each of her steps echoing. "Hush," said Tinsley suddenly, lifting up her hand to silence any whisper that might have peeped out of the students. Stupid children. Filthy children. She snapped back at them, her eyes fiery and narrowed. "You all have fun. But not too much." And with that, she walked over to Emma slowly, placing a hand on the small of her back just before reaching in for a traditional air kiss; one cheek, and a pause, and then the other cheek, just before Tinsley pulled away and smiled dangerously. "My old friend," she cooed. "reunited at last." |

It all happened so quickly; Ariella, and then Tinsley, and then.. Mom? Everything was seemingly perfect until Emma showed up, looking around as if she was looking for Carmen, who now felt the full weight of what a guilty conscience could actually be. A lump in her throat, it took her a moment to realize the way that Tinsley was staring at Emma was unusual, almost as if she was a wild animal stalking her prey. "Err," began Carmen/Millicent, "Ms. Carmi--" "Hush," said Tinsley suddenly, lifting up her hand to silence any whisper that might have peeped out of the students. Stupid children. Filthy children. She snapped back at them, her eyes fiery and narrowed. "You all have fun. But not too much." Carmen watched, trying to control the anxious beating of her heart in her chest. In a moment of sheer brilliance, she poked Dave's leg beneath the table softly, digging into the pocket of his--uhhh, her--jacket to reveal an Extendable Ear; she had asked Dave to bring a few tricks up his sleeve and, knowing his group of trouble-making friends, was not surprised to find this fleshy tube. She willed him to stay quiet as she gently tried to surreptitiously drop it onto the floor, unsuspecting by all. Eyes still ahead of her, only her hand digging through Dave's--PANSY'S--pocket, she suddenly squeezed her eyes shut and faked an overwhelming sneeze. The fleshy end of the Extendable Ear fell onto the floor and snaked its way to the women; as Carmen covered her face in her sleeve and continued to sneeze furiously, she slipped the earpiece on the inside of Millicent's bushy blonde hair. She popped up, blushing. "Sorry, must be allergic to tea," she apologized, feigning embarrassment as she averted Ariella's eyes. Her pocket watch beeped. Thirty minutes left. Carmen had to struggle to hide the melange of emotions bursting through her as she heard the voice of her mother crisp in her ear; her heart ached. "I highly doubt that." Trying not to overtly stare, Carmen's eyes kept flitting back to the corner where the women were standing, as Madam Puddifoot quickly shuffled away. Tinsley was sneering; Emma looked fairly bored. "So, have you been reading the Prophet these days, little Emma Gray?" smirked Tinsley. "Your little friends made the front page! Missing! I dare say, it's a tragedy, the people that go missing don't usually turn up, do they?" "You must be talking about Margo, Mitchell, and Katriane," replied Emma, frowning, "so of course I read it. Three elementius missing; certainly pertains to me, doesn't it? You and I both know." Emma was glaring at Tinsley, her arms now firmly crossed against her chest. "Why do you ask?" Tinsley reached forward, placing a hand on Emma's shoulder. "My dear Emma, I know that we've had our issues in the past," she smiled, "and I'm okay with that. But you have to understand that we're on the same side here. Minister McKenna wouldn't have trusted me with this position otherwise. You know that." Carmen heard only silence as her eyes darted back to the group, panicking quietly. |

"I am confident I know nothing," said Emma with a chuckle, stepping away from Tinsley cautiously. "Although I do trust Minister McKenna to do the right thing, always. You must understand how our past affects our present and future, however..." "Of course," grinned Tinsley, stepping away from Emma as well. "I'm simply looking out for you. Three elementius just missing... haven't you spoken to any of the others?" "Not yet," admitted Emma quietly, "although I wasn't certain I need to. Do you think it could be a coincidence?" Emma paused. "Well, nothing is ever a coincidence in our world, is it?" Tinsley laughed and as she did so, pressed her hand against Emma's shoulder. "You're absolutely right." She let go and stepped away again, glancing at her daughter and, then, the exit. "I'll let you go, though. I should probably head back up to the school. But please, keep what I said in mind... and let me know if you need anything. I'm not here to hurt you, or disturb your class... I'm trying to help." In response to Emma's silence, Tinsley added, "It's only right. It's what Julian would have wanted." She looked down, frowning before she glanced at the exit once again. "You look like you're going to barf. Uhhh, hello? I'm talking to you?" Carmen snapped back to Ariella, panicking. Her pocket watch beeped. Twenty minutes. |
