Progressive People’s Party

The PPP is a party for those of us who believe in progress and equality, with a passion for the people's welfare. Feel free to read this short Manifesto and new members can always apply!

Individual Rights Guarantee:
Every citizen of the region should have a full protection of their individual rights as a human being, no exceptions made. Equality is the way forward, and should be implemented by every government equally.

Free Speech:
Free speech should be considered a basic right for every citizen in The Hyatt Islands and every constitution should have an article concerning this subject and guaranteeing this as such.

Economics:
Economic regulations by the government should be held to a minimum. Interventions should only take place in case of employee mistreatment, economic threats, etc. A free trade within the region should be seen as something natural and logical.

Education:
In order to create a healthy economy and a state of welfare, education should be encouraged and paid for by the state. International exchange of students should be funded by the regional government to make the bonds between states stronger, starting with ‘the future’ of our states.

Healthcare:
Free universal healthcare should, also, be a basic right with a regional fund to support states that might not be financially strong enough to offer its citizens this themselves.

Energy:
Each state has to be able to decide upon this issue as it pleases, although green energy should be promoted to prevent the states from having to pay enormous amounts of money to protect them from changes in nature.

Environment:
Promotional campaigns should be organized to motivate the citizens of the region to make informed decisions when it comes to our surrounding nature and promote a ‘green’ attitude. Furthermore states should decide on their own whether or not nature takes a high place on the agenda.

Justice:
Every state should have a constitution, as a basis for the justice system to do its work. Every state should be able to decide what is punished and what is not, within the limits of humanity. If an intrusion is made, this should be punished (severely) by a national court or a regional court if a national variety is lacking.

Defense:
If a state has a national army or not, is up to the state itself. All states, however, should pay for a part of the regional movement of armed forces. This will be calculated by the amount of currency per capita.

Privacy:
Governments should not intrude the citizens’ privacy, unless very strong indicators point towards a national security threat. If a government makes itself guilty of breaching a citizen’s right to privacy, this should be punished greatly and the involved politicians should resign immediately.

Welfare:
Every state should strive towards being a state of welfare, to give its people a healthy and wealthy life. Accompanying this welfare, the state should create an environment in which citizens feel safe and secure.

Property Rights:
Every citizen within the region should have a chance to own property in one way or another. Housing is a basic right and should be taken care of by the government if citizens aren’t capable of doing so themselves.

Marriage:
Marriages have to take place between human beings, with a minimum age of 18 and both parties have to consent.

Abortion:
Abortion should be legal in the entire region, life is only life when a functioning heart and brain are present.

Drugs:
Soft drugs should be made legal by all states within the region, hard drugs should be regulated by each state independently.

Guns:
Civilians should not be allowed to carry guns, this to protect them from one another. Citizens involved in the armed forces or police force are the only ones who should be allowed to own a gun and this must be kept in a safe place.

Sheesh, I guess there was bound to be a moderate party. I don't ever foresee a VFF-PPP coalition being built.

In every world, a balance is needed. A negotiator if the less moderate parties can't seem to agree ... But thank you for giving me my first reply, much appreciated! We'll see each other again soon during campaigning! :D

Got excited when I saw a section on piracy - and then realized, no - it actually said privacy.
Maybe I've had too much rum. Or, not enough.

Nerdemberg

The proud citizens of The Serene Republic of Nerdemberg have always taken a casual attitude toward government. They haven't even written a constitution or similar document of governance. They probably should get around to doing that soon.

Part of this casual attitude is that they typically dislike political parties. The Progressive People's Party, however, they dislike less than any of the others.

There are a few planks in the platform that Nerdemberg disagrees with, but they figure it's better to debate those differences from within than to create yet another political party. Therefore, The Serene Republic of Nerdemberg would like to join the Progressive People's Party.

Nerdemberg,

I'm very happy to see that you have become active in a political party. I urge you to become active in the regional message board as an opposition party.

Even if you aren't ALR, it'll be nice to get an opposing view in every once in a while :)

Unfortunately it appears that your fellow party members have ceased to exist, but don't let that discourage you! If you become vocal on the RMB others might join your party!

If you feel like reaching across the aisle, I would be more than happy to co-author legislation with you.

I second everything you just said, mister Prime Minister. We truly need an opposition party, and any debate or discussion on the RMB would be much appreciated.
