The Peace and Freedom party hold individual liberty to the highest of priorities. While there is an emphasis on equality under law, democracy and rule of law, no measures may be made against individual liberty whether it be he national or local government. Liberty: Rights enshrined in the constitution are to be held sacrosanct and may not be infringed. The national government has the duty to protect citizens and nations if local governments infringe upon rights in the constitution. The rights in the constitution are the minimum level that citizens should have. Local governments may propose extensions to increase civil rights, etc. Transparency: Full disclosure of governmental affairs is vital in a free region. While matters involving regional defense may be sensitive, if our government is acting within the framework of the constitution, all documents can be made available now or in the near future. Economics: While most governmental intervention in the economy, sometimes it is necessary. Regulations to protect the environment, and workers rights may be put in place by local governments. The duties of the government in the economy should be left to the citizens, or local governments. Currency shall be issued by the national government, and states shall not issue their own. The exchange rate however will not be regulated by government, either national or local. Floating exchange rates provide a stable and free market oriented plan. Healthcare and Welfare: Each citizen shall be responsible for his/her own insurance and healthcare. However, the Peace and Freedom party encourages the negative income tax, up to $15,000.00 where the government pays half of the difference to the sum of $15,000 to families making under that amount. This amount is subject to change with economic conditions. For those on the NIT, healthcare vouchers shall be provided by local governments and funding through small block grants to the states/local governments. There shall be no other healthcare subsidies. Defense: Defense is a high priority of the Peace and Freedom Party. Each local government may regulate its own militia. Each citizens shall also have the right to posses military grade weapons after a training period is passed. The regional government shall however call troops from local governments to fight in defense of the region. A minister and department of defense is needed and shall be funded through tax revenue. The regional defense force however shall be voluntary and no conscription shall ever be put in place. Any other issues shall be presented to the party president: Basanodor Edited by Basanodor, Apr 11 2014, 06:20 PM.
