Every government often passes regulations which harm the well-being of its constituents, during those periods of time when the government is controlled by either malicious or well-intentioned but misguided parties. Because of this, for a government to stay in balance and keep from becoming ever more restrictive, said government must sometimes critically review existing regulations and reevaluate their current benefit and relevance to the constituents. The Regressive Party is dedicated to the repeal of laws which are no longer suitable for the Hyatt Islands and its members. The Regressive Party holds the repeal of laws relating to any of the following to be of the utmost importance: 1. Freedom of Speech - Freedom of speech, in any of its various forms, is not to be compromised in any way. This includes spoken word, as well as text which is either physically printed or released online. 2. Freedom to Bear Arms - Under any government's authority, restriction of the right of the constituents to keep and bear arms means that those constituents have lost the fundamental last resort method to reform the government. In the case of the Hyatt Islands region, any weapon which the region is capable of owning shall also be legal (and not restricted via underhanded means, e.g. taxing based on sale or ownership) for any members of the region. 3. Offensive Military Action - Any use of military force in the offensive (not defensive use of military force) must be, at the least, constantly scrutinized. Offensive military action is rarely justifiable, and so ongoing offensive military action should almost always be stopped as soon as possible. Unless the safety of the constituents which comprise the Hyatt Islands is directly threatened, military force should not be used. 4. Free Trade - Any restriction of free trade, both within the Hyatt Islands region, and between the constituents of the Hyatt Islands region and external parties is unacceptable. Particularly, this principle applies to sales taxes and tariffs. 5. Intellectual Property - Given that intellectual property does not exist, as it is not tangible, any regional restriction which attempts to establish a principle of intellectual property rights should be immediately repealed. In addition, considering the value of unhindered free speech and the invalidity of the concept of intellectual property rights, no governmental regulation should exist which limits use of the internet, as the internet has become an important vehicle for the sharing of speech and ideas. The Regressive Party holds that the regional government should consist of an executive, legislative, and judicial branch, and no others. Regarding the judicial branch, the responsibilities are only to determine whether the actions of one of the region's constituents were justifiable, and to nullify any applicable laws which are flawed. In addition, the principle of jury nullification is extremely valuable. The Regressive Party only intends to influence the laws of the regional government of the Hyatt Islands. Members of the Hyatt Islands are free to pass whichever laws they deem necessary, so long as those laws do not interfere with the right of any other member of the Hyatt Islands to do the same. |

I like you, Jonas, and I like your party. Your thinking is very much along my lines and I almost certainly would call myself a member of your party! Out of curiosity, what is your stance on education and healthcare? |

Hi, Siaocia. The Regressive Party believes in the separation of school and state. If a school system is provided government funding, the teachers in that school system will generally support whichever political party wants to increase school funding. Since the majority of the teachers will share the same political leanings, and since teachers naturally affect their students' political views (whether or not that effect is intentional), school systems which are in whole or in part run or funded by the government produce biased students. Since the Regressive Party strongly supports free market economics and the principle of a competitive marketplace, healthcare should be run by private and free companies, not by the government. Any regulations which are passed which contradict these views should be repealed as soon as possible. Have I properly outlined the Party's views? Would you like any other information? |
