That Chaos Lord looks superb! The OSL on the shield and blood dripping from the axe are very well done.

came in looky to see dwarves and get mauled by a chaos lord love the surprise. well done. agree with everyone all round. houses coat might need either a wash or highlight depending on how bright or dark you want the coat. the icon could use the highlight and the pallid flesh applied to the hands trophies will just make the model that more guesome. looking forward to more of your chaos.

@Brother Ludovic: Cheers! Input is always welcome, as its amazing what details you miss when you are too close!

@lestat: Thanks! The dripping gore was done with fishing wire, and I used Tamiya Clear Red for the blood.

@Chyld: Cheers, thanks for the input! As for Chaos, only have a small warband to do, next up will be my forsaken model, of which it is based on an old 80's citadel Khorne champion with the Flesh Hound face. Should be fun!

Well, didn't end up playing the narrative game on Saturday, but caught up with my friend in the week to have a game. It was just a straight 1000pts smash up, where I used my defensive list. he was plagued by such horrible luck, there was nothing you could do but feel sorry for the guy (even though he played my hated foes!) Ultimately, I wiped his force out, and he managed to kill 8 Dwarfs in total. I think he wants a rematch! One thing though that was great was that we both had full painted armies for this game, so it really looked awesome.

In waiting for my friend to get some more models, I started on my next 500pts. Going with an Organ Gun and 23 Iron Breakers. Finished the Organ Gun, so will post below. The Iron Breakers are the old citadel ones, so will be interesting to paint.

As always and c&c is most welcome.

Looking good :) Again, the browns still look a bit flat, but I'm guessing that's the lighting. I'm looking forward to seeing your next update!

Well, after that fun contest with the dragon Slayer, it was time for some Iron Breakers. I only have the old old ones, which I don't think are bad models, but the problem was they didn't have any shields. So i decided to finally take the plunge and use some instant mold I had lying around to make a cast of an old Marauder shield I want my unit to have. It was really easy, and I'm sure most of you out there have already been there and done that, but it was quite a leap for me, and it worked out very well. I have some pics of the first few cast. Its done with just greenstuff, and just pops out of the mold when cured, which is nice.

Let me know what you think.

First up the Dragon Slayer from the comp. Spent a lot of time on the eyes, though you can't see the front one very well. Also the tattoo on his back is meant to be a fire breathing dragon going along his arm. But it was my first attempt at this kind of thing, so hopefully I'll get better!

They look great, really like the Ironbreaker models! I really should try and get my hands on some of that Instant Mold stuff, seems like a great thing to have in any modeler's arsenal :)

Cheers! Can't recommend it enough, very useful stuff, and very easy to use. Ideal to duplicate 2d objects, though with a bit of preparation I have seen it used effectively with 3d objects as well. Haven't done too much painting of late, as work as taken up my time. I have another batch of Iron Breakers that are nearly finished, but might be a while till I finish them off.

Finished my next 5 Iron Breakers. Also added my GS shields. Not 100% happy with them, and may do them again at some stage, but these guys are rank fillers and hopefully I'll get better at casting the shields the closer I get to the front rank.

As always and c&c is welcome.

Those shields look pretty darn good to me!
Sometimes, if you press too hard with the instant mold, you can smudge the detail because it slips. I found that putting it on a flat surface and putting something like a book on top gives enough even pressure for the mold to take. It's a bit of trial and error to see what works.
The best bit is, if the mold goes fubar, you just drop it into some hot water and start again! :D

Yeah I might try your book idea to get some even pressure. Most of the details come out alright, its just that the back of the shields sometimes come out uneven. Still, its great stuff and a lot cheaper than trying to obtain those shields by other means.
