The gyrocopter is looking great - the shields might be a nice touch. I'm sure in the Dwarf range, there are small bucklers in one of the kits which might fit on the gyro better than the larger shields. Can't remember which kit they're in though.

Do the Miners have a unit standard? If so, you could use the army colours on there - or for any champion and musician models too.

Thanks lestat. Got some old marauder shields lined up for it. just want to make some instamould copies of them, then put them on. As for the miners, I've had the same suggestion from other people, to put the spot colours on the banner. Problem is that at this stage, I'm not planning on doing paper banners yet. Good idea for the champ and musician though. Will see what I come up with. Thanks for the input!

If you do make a banner, use foil instead of paper as it holds it's shape better.
Or you could do something like a Roman standard - glue shields to a pole with some sort of totem on the top.

Interesting point with the foil. When I take the plunge I'll be sure to try that.

I have here my first 5 miners. As you may be aware, I was unsire hwo to do them, as I wasn't able to find anywhere on them to put the army spot colours. So for now, its the base that ties them in with the army. Hopefully they aren't too different on the tabletop. I tried to improve my metalics with these ones, as well as attempted to give the wood some more definition in the form of grain. Hopefully you can see it. Let me know what you think. Only 15 more to go by Friday!

Lovely new additions :) Loving the "woody" effect on the pick hafts! What's up next?

There really isn't a lot of room for spot colours on them! They look great though - particularly like the beards and the faces :D

Thanks! Glad you could pick it out. Next up is 15 more of these. I think I must have close to 40, but for the time being, a unit of 20 will suffice.

Thanks. For spot colours I was thinking of doing the cloth? under the chainmail and above the boots the spot colours. Only problem is that they are out of the way so won't be seen often, and they are kind of isolated in that there are no other colours to put on the model to balance it out. Although I am happy with them, I think there is too much brown on them.

Thanks for the comment on the beards and faces though! Beards are great fun to do on these old models!

Even though there are a limited number of poses with the older models, you've managed to make each one individual by differing the colour of the beards.

Cheers! Personally I find the older metal models far superior sculpts compared to the current Dwarf range. And like you said, it doesn't take much to make them individuals.

Got the next five done. Gave the beards more highlights this time, and tackled the candles in a new way. I think they look better this way. Let me know what you think!
