Pig of Sparta

Hey Guys,

thought I'd put up a couple of photos of my latest paintwork, please try to critique the hell out of it if you can as it was an experiment in using washes and glazes over highlighted basecoats and was painted in about 5 hours:

The whites and reds look excellent and I rather like the copper colour of the detailing. The armour, however, looks a tad too brown - as if the generals servants had forgotten to polish thier lords armour for a long time. Which wash did you use for the armour?

Everything was washed with Devlan Mud before I washed the steel plates with Badab Black... I was aiming for the look of a general on extended campaign but I can see what you're saying Lestat, he does look a little too grimy in places :D

I think a blended highlight of Boltgun Metal would do the trick. Very nice paint job, I really like it :)

Maybe a little highlighting of the edges of the armor plates or areas where there would be more wear to show where the dirt and grime has worn would work.

I like the grittiness of the armour plates, but they could probably a highlight or two. The gold could pop a little but more, but I really like the red you have achieved there.

The white and gloves look good, though if he has been on campaign for awhile, they might be a little more gritty. Maybe some light brown powders could add some campaign road dust? Just some ideas, and its quite a cool model. There any other Empire to go along with that?

EDIT: Also his face is brilliant, from the skin tones to the stubble and the horrid scar. Would love to know how you achieved that!
