From FB......... The Eagle On Alliance put Operation Eagle Watch into effect this morning! Our EOA members who live near the Garden and around Lake Whitehurst and know everyone in the surrounding areas, contacted people who live on the lakes and asked them to keep an eye out for our eagles! They will be getting time and location and possible photos of sightings! We are trying to get something done even if we are still snowed in! Will let you know as soon as we hear anything! Sighting an eagle is not a guarantee of identification of OUR eagles. But any sighting is better than none!!!! EAGLE ON!!! |

Cheryl someone posted a perfect analogy about the methods the Norfolk Airport and the USFWS are sanctioning...... " So, do we as homeowners go out and look for random burglars to chase away from our homes? No, we make our homes an undesirable target. We have deterrents like alarm systems, well lit exteriors, maybe a dog, you get the idea. Here, the USDA are going out and looking for the eagles (burglars) to chase away, rather than making the airport (home) an undesirable target. Avian radars, people who go out to the runways when wildlife has been spotted to frighten them off, and yes, even dogs who have been trained to work the airports can be used. These are wildlife mitigation plans that have been proven to work, and are long term solutions. " It is very hard to understand why the airport is chasing the eagles all over the place except on their own property ![]() |

Carol, I am so happy for you that your daughter is talking to you and is also getting you another TV! I don't know if you enjoy watching the Olympics or not, but it is good timing for a new TV.Robert just refilled all the bird feeders. Within five minutes a lot of birds arrived and are chowing down like crazy. I think they know or feel somehow that there is a lot more snow coming. Penny, I agree with you completely. G'day peeps, my overcast, humid Saturday. I had too much coffee yesterday with my GFs luncheon and could NOT get to sleep last night... till about 2.30am. And I had to be up at 8am for a HAIRCUT. Its a new hairdresser, local same suburb, cheaper. She did a good job. I like her a lot. We stayed at the Bellagio and, yes, the main foyer is amazing with the horse and Chihuly ceiling. Flowers everywhere too. We had a 'fountain view room' but the first night the wind was blowing too much so the fountain display was cancelled. Also the room was rather low and we only saw part of the display. I called my mother in CA whilst at this hotel, they charged me $15 for 3 minutes!!!! Carol, wonderful, happy news about your DD and Tv. And that your GS's team won! Carole, rain, rain, rain (but not snow!) Sounds like a fun theater time for you Penny! Is the roof leaking Kris? Loved the Dr George article! Saved that page link. I never thought of rats as 'cute', but these photos by 3 18y.o girls are just that: http://themetapicture.com/rats-with-their-teddy-bears/ |

Kath, the rat photos made me think 'calendar' when I saw them. I suppose there are people out there who might buy a calendar like that. Nice that you found a hairdresser that you really like in your own neighbourhood.

I wouldn't want to play cards with this guy. Watch as Australian magician James Galea pulls off one of the most sophisticated card tricks ever seen – with a single deck of cards, split several times, he tells a story. You might want to be sure your socks are tied on!!! www.youtube.com/embed/PDG1mDCfoBo?rel=0 |

Once our children have all grown up and moved away, they often think that buying 'things' for their parents will fill the empty void, but nothing beats a personal visit and warm hugs to heal a lonely heart. This takes on more meaning as we enter the winter of our lives and we try to reconcile what we get in return for all that we have given. Sometimes it's little more than an occasional call or a trinket in the mail. Perhaps someday they will better understand.
