G'day Peeps, Ready for the Game! Unfortunately, we dont get the US ads here in Oz. I have to go to the internet for those! I have American Hans (no gluten) hotdogs for lunch, the ONLY time I eat them.

A big hug for you Kris. Good to know the Immigration is 'in the works' so some light at the end of the rainbow. When you go back, will you be going to SMonica or somewhere else?

Good grief Cheryl, all that snow. Sounds like you have your day covered though!

Very sad about the FortM BEchick. :( :^^^:

Also very sad about Hoffman, although I didnt care too much for his acting. I was so upset when he won the Oscar for 'Capote' when I thought J.Phoenix did a fantastic job in 'Walk the Line'. IMHO.

Today is another beautiful day, but the first time the morning temp was under 75F!

Cheryl I'm  picturing your 'hide n seek' game with your whippets. That must have left a few scratches on the floors rofl Siobhan is not good at playing those kinds of games...nobody ever interacted like that with her when she was younger I guess. She just stands like a statue and watches rofl

Ozzie that is just terrible about those people who were dropping off their garbage like that :hair: Too bad youi didn't get the license plate #

Here we are allowed one bin...no overflow...and we have been told that we will have to pay if we are tossing any more than that. We have been warned to keep our bins in a safe place too and not to put them out ahead of time. We haven't put out any garbage for over a month and our bin is only half full :D We put a lot more into the recycling than into the land fill :)^

GOOD EVENING ALL / An amazing day /
After church we have a fellowship time with snacks and coffee. (Our pastor
really wants us to be friends). He announced to the congregation (about 200)
that it was my birthday tomorrow and they had a beautiful cake for me.
Went to MCR after church and saw some birder friends, thousands of snow geese,
and our adult eagle even though it was nasty and rainy / I was suposed to go to
breakfast tomorrow morning with two friends but they are saying we may get
snosw tonight in to tomorrow morning /Was having a little proble with the
lack of sound with the new tV so called my DD and her husband was able to
icorrect it, then my Dd and I talked for almost an hour.

Tried to watch the superBowl this evening. I want Denver Broncos to win
so bad because my DS lived in Colorado for many years but couldn't bear
to watch it /

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE February 2, 2014

No Cub Sightings

Juliet and cub - Feb 1, 2014

No cub sightings today. Juliet kept her back to the camera—tending her cubs out of view. She hovered over them through temperatures as low as minus 25F.

Holly continues to entertain those watching her Den Cam . Though mostly sleeping soundly, she manages to rouse from time-to-time to rearrange bedding.

The WRI Black Bear Field Study courses are filling nicely—with only 16 of the 64 spots offered still open! The Bear Course webpage has been updated to reflect changes made to the courses in recent years. Participant comments from the 2012 and 2013 courses can be seen here.

Bear Course participants

When I took the course I was already very familiar with their [WRI] work and the nature of bears, but being able to see the bears in their environment, see and touch the bear sign, and see and explore their dens bought my understanding to a whole new level. The course should be mandatory for all wildlife professionals. (Dianne W. – Minnesota 2013)

Thank you for all you do.

—Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center
