Carole E4 looks fantastic :**: what a change from the early days in that nest :)^

I was rofl laughing reading your little synopsis of the heating/rules at your apartment complex Carol  Typical of many management companies not wanting to spend the money to upgrade or fix anything and then complain their rising costs are all the fault of the tenants

The photos of your brothers were very nice to see. May they RIP :candle: :candle:

Finnish reindeer herders have coloured animal's antlers to 'glow in the dark'

Posted Image click for story

Their horns are sprayed with flourescent dye to prevent car crashes involving the animals.

It is the the latest attempt to stop thousands of road deaths involving reindeer in Lapland, in northern Finland.

The North American Parks Services should try the same thing with moose, stags and caribou in Banff and other places where so many of them get hit. Of course during hunting season, that could be a death knell :o The article doesn't mention how long the stuff actually stays on

Carole, Cheryl, and Ozzie, thank you so much for your condolences on the loss of my friend, Toby. (((GH))) He was such a talented, open hearted person and left the treasure of his art work and memory for the world. <3

Here's a bit of happy news: Wisdom, the 63 year old Laysan Albatross and Oldest Wild Bird Mom, has just hatched her newest chick! I posted her story a couple of years ago and am delighted to know she continues to break records and is now raising her new chick in the Midway Islands. <3

Speaking of breaking records, we have our own local Olympic champ, Shelly Rudman, who didn't take the Gold in the Skeleton event this year but has in the past two Winter Olympics. She's from Pewsey, the nearby village we lived in before we moved further into the countryside, and where we go for groceries several times a week. I have to admit I'm not a sports fan and don't follow any since I quit playing Tennis, but Shelly's a local celebrity out here in the Boondocks. :P

Carole that was the best game ever :chk:

Posted Image

For Canada to come back from a 2 - 0 deficit in the final three minutes after a US puck went straight for the goal with no goalie in it and to have it bounce off the end post was like a 'gift'; and then to have Marie-Philip Poulin score the winning goal as she did the tie breaking goal was really stupendous. She was out for months with an injury and just started back with the team in January.

The whole ending to that game was really surreal  DH had actually left the room because he thought it was all over. Now he has to watch the replay videos because he did not have 'faith' :P

<::: Panda Updates

Posted Image

Thursday, February 20

I can't believe how much those little gals have grown. I guess that is what they do: grow up so fast. It’s the same with the lion cubs. They are so big and are running around, playing, stalking, and chasing after Mom and each other. It’s funny how they are so different from the panda cubs. Our gals prefer to chill on top of the structures in the dayrooms, relax, occasionally play with each other, or climb on anything and everything. Lun Lun doesn't have to move far to watch them. It’s not the same for our lioness, Kiki. She is constantly running around watching and playing with her cubs. The moment she gets a break, the cubs attack her and tug on her ears and tail. It's interesting how different parenting is for these moms. Props to both of them!

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE February 20, 2014

Preparations

Cubs snuggle up to Juliet

All is well with Ted, Honey, Lucky, and Holly at the Bear Center, and all is well with Juliet and her 3 cubs out in the woods.

Ted looks out - Feb 19

The azure sky of yesterday gave way to today’s snowstorm that is predicted to add 10 more inches of snow. The pre-fab tool shed at the Bear Center has already buckled under the weight of this winter’s snow. However, Ted’s chalet den was built strong. He looked out of it yesterday as staff cleared a path past his enclosure with a snow blower. The new chalet for Honey is looking good, thanks to Lily Fans and Bear Center staff.

We’ve been scrambling to provide our attorneys with information they need. We haven’t been able to do much else.

The hearing starts Monday and is open to the public. It runs 9 to 5 on February 24-28 and then resumes March 3-5 after the weekend. It is in the Skjestad Room on the second floor of the Office of Administrative Hearings at 600 North Robert Street in St Paul, MN.

Snow buckled tool shed - Feb 19

We will continue the updates during this time if we can. We look forward to this opportunity to be joined by Lily Fans as we finally get a chance to lay out our case. We appreciate the words of encouragement we have received from so many.

Thank you for all you do.
