Posted Image Good morning, everybody!

Carole, I was excited for you just reading your comments about your nest visit and time in downtown Ft. Meyers. Bev must have returned to the cold northern weather. Your pictures turned out really well. I am happy for you that E4 was active and not just asleep during your visits. Cool that you returned later in the day. What were Alan's comments? Did he enjoy the nest visit? Thank you for sharing your day with us along with your photos. :)^ :clk: :><: I think it was a special opportunity to be able to see a juvie and its parents at their nest. :<<o>>: ^"^ :<<o>>:

Sorry that I wasn't here yesterday. The weather was OK for driving although extremely cold. I went and did some errands. Robert is the one who gets our groceries so I really don't have to go out much. The bank teller said, "Shopping day?" and told me that many, many people haven't been outside in ages. We are going away next week so I'm looking forward to that.

Penny, "Winterpeg" is in the news with the cold again. Last night there was a segment on the huge green machines that are breaking up the ice on the Red River north of Winnipeg.

The news is saying that this is the coldest winter in a generation, jeepers. Robert just came home from a short walk with the dogs. They were blasted by a huge gust of snow and wind. His face was covered in snow and very red. Scared me a bit but he said it wasn't his blood pressure, "just" a snow blast.

Carol, I hope you are able to get out for your line dancing. :88:

Kath, the cat pictures are lots of fun and cleverly done, too. That was a bargain with the orchids. I can just see you checking out with them with a big smile on your face. You and my sister would have something to talk about because she has orchids. I just manage to kill them.

P.S. If anybody is interested in the Vikings the TV series of the same name is starting its second season tonight on our History Channel. It is violent but fascinating. We got hooked during season one. My favourite show, Grey's Anatomy, is also on tonight for the first time in ages. I hope they are on at different times because we don't have a recorder machine. Along with Big Bang Theory it's a TV kind of night to look forward to with a glass of wine. :ok:

Also, is anybody else a fan of Diana Gabaldon's books? I have a video or two to share since a TV series is being made from her first novel, but there is no sense posting it if nobody else has read her books. Diana is my favourite author.

Cheryl I must confess I haven't read any of her books. What are the Outlander series about?

The headline in our paper today reads "Our cold harsh reality....brutal road conditions, countless -30C days, frozen water pipes, our worst winter in 35 years has hit hard and don't expect things to get better anytime soon" :o

There are about 300 people who have been without running water since Jan 31st because of frozen pipes :8O: They all have the 'new' plastic pipes...a minimum of 10 - 14 days wait for a city crew to thaw them compared to the 'old' metaL pipes...almost immediately, 30 - 45 mins to thaw them :hair:

Thank G_d we don't have that problem :X: but the :flk: melt is going to be a big headache when it starts

These are the machines that are used on the rivers here to break up the ice to alleviate flooding. They have been known to sink into the water themselves in the past :o
They are already on the job here.

Cheryl - Alan really enjoyed the nest visit. While I walked down the road a bit I returned to find Alan taking :clk: with his cell phone :D and he is willing to return in a week or two.

Are you going on another cruise to warm weather?

Oh, yes, and very, very sexy. ;) Get "Outlander", her first book, and you will never look back. Claire is a real kick-ass heroine, and I can't even describe Jamie without getting heart palpitations.

Carole, that's fantastic that Alan enjoyed the nest visit so much. I am :D about him taking pictures with his phone. Robert got so enthusiastic, too, when we were on Catalina Island. Now he checks on the nests daily on his own computer. I really am so happy for you that you got to see the eagles in their nest!

We're going back to Maui on the 5th. We're staying at the same hotel on the beach where we stayed a couple of years ago. We've booked 3 tours with the Pacific Whale Foundation. Robert is still hoping to get the perfect, elusive whale picture. He even bought another camera and lens. I'm worried about the long flight with my hips so it might be the last time we go to Hawaii.

Penny, the news segment did mention the frozen pipes, too. That is a relief that you haven't had that problem at your house. I know what you mean about being worried about the snow melt - same here because the water flows between the houses from the woods. We are hoping it stays cold until we get home. Hoping for a gradual thaw for you and everybody in Winnipeg.

Well, that link opened but it wouldn't play for me

Historical dramas are always interesting so I'll check out the first book in The Outlander series :chk:

Cheryl - After I finish what I have on my Kobo, I will get Outlander, love that kind of book. Thanks for the recommendation :Hugs:

Try and get the exit seat on the plane, there's more leg room. My friend Ellie who has had several serious spinal surgeries has to walk around as much as possible during the flight, and she flies a lot, her DD lives in California. You will really love the Maui weather after the miserable winter back home. Hope you get to see lots of whales and Robert gets that very special photo. :X: :clk: Enjoy and have fun.
