It's Oscar Night!I enjoy the fashions more than the show itself. We rented "Gravity" last night. It seemed short, compared to "Apollo 13" years ago. |

Jill, thanks for the list of gentle reminders about what is really important. Kath, I'm sorry about your friend and hope that he can receive some helpful treatment. Penny, what a good detective you are, finding the newspaper photos of Carol!! Thanks so much for doing that! Carol, I hope you can find your missing earring. They look like such pretty ones in the photo so I can understand why you are upset about losing one. You look mahvelous, dahlink!!!!! What a set of terrific photos. I liked the ones where you were gesturing and explaining things to the young fellow. Your enthusiasm is evident. My favourite is the one of you with the binoculars. My goodness, that group of snow geese looks like a big bubbly pile of snow. Very cool. Carole, well done on your pond critter pictures. The sandhills do look tall and elegant, especially with their red caps. Poor Alan, he looks dejected in your picture by the water. Good caption! It is very cold here, and snowy. However, it's not as bad as Penny's weather. Our next heating bill is going to be ginormous. I did hear a cardinal singing its spring song, though, very early this morning. Woo hoo! There is hope that spring is coming! |

Hi Everyone. A very consuming week has kept me from checking in. After the incident with the aggressive worker on my birthday the Harpy landladies decided to exercise their periodic "property inspection" right, which they've only done once before. We had to go into high gear cleaning every cobweb and nettle sprout in the garden to meet their scrutiny; things they picked on the only other time they inspected. They only did a brief inspection, we're sure to "punish" us for refusing to let their worker come unannounced and wreck our plans for my birthday. The inspection was last Tuesday and the rest of the week was fraught with other calamities I won't go into. I just wanted to let you know I hadn't dropped off the planet.Carol I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. And for your earring. Hopefully it will turn up. Ozzie, so sorry for your friend's DH's grim diagnosis. Carole, great pics of the Fort Meyers Eagles! There was sad news on the Loch of Lowes website. Blue YZ, who was venerable Osprey, Lady of the Loch's, chick of last year was confirmed lost. Last November her satellite tracking ceased and last week her bones and leg bands were found where her last transmissions came from. Something had caused it to start transmitting again and that led them to find her. Lady's return to the Loch from her African Migration could be within the next weeks. All hopes are that she's survived another year at her age of nearly 30. Wish we could see the Academy Awards show! By the time they start in in California we'll be well into our nighttime. I'll just have to wait until morning to get the results.

Carol if you can't find your missing moonstone earring, you could always have the hook removed from the other one and replace it with a bail so you could wear it on a chain as a necklace ![]() Watching the red carpet fun ahead of the Oscars....the puppy bowl predicted '12 Years a Slave' as Best Picture...I hope it wins. My other predictions are: Best Actress - Cate Blanchett : Best Actor - Matthew McConaughey Best Supporting Actress - Lupita Nyong'o : Best Supporting Actor - Jared Leto and Gravity should win Best Director and a whole bunch of the technical awards it is nominated for. We'll be snacking on vegetarian pizza and assorted munchies instead of eating a regular dinner tonight. Who wants to go anywhere when the weather is so frozen I think Best Song will go to Frozen too. Seems appropriate to us somehow

OzzieGiuliana Rancic on 'E !' was wearing the most gorgeous dress designed by a young Australian designer for the Oscars tonight. Her shoes were amazing too.![]() It was just fabulous on her...probably nicer than what some of the nominated stars will be wearing ![]() 'Paul Vasileff aka Paioo Sebastian burst onto the Australian fashion scene with his elaborate, elegant and ethereal couture collections in 2007. Reminiscent of early 1950’s styles imported silks, French lace and beaded embellishments typify a Paolo Sebastian gown inspiring a new vision of timeless elegance.' |
