Hello, everybody! We have a frost warning and it is raining - no gardening for me today. I had hoped to go to the gardening centre to get my geraniums and sunshine impatiens but I don't want to get sick being out in the cold. I'll wait for a better day. It's too early to plant annuals, anyway. Kath, I planted a couple of perennials at the front - a blanketflower and a coreopsis. There was a gap that needed to be filled. I would like to plant veggies like you but the bunnies eat everything. My neighbour has raised vegetable beds which aren't working out well at all because of the critters.Time for some coffee .... need to warm up. |

CruzersIt has been so cold here, we even had snow squalls yesterday Before that we had a few days of serious drenching so everything is starting to green up nicely now.The landscaper was here digging in some plants yesterday but had to stop. He'll be back today to do some more. I am a bit disappointed in the size of some of the shrubs but it is the time of the year. He says they will take off and get quite large in a month We are having a bit of a difference of opinion on some placings...he's a big fan of groups of 3 of a kind...I am more of a one here, one there, one over that way as in an panorama arc. He's caved on a few and I decided against some shrubs he was going to put next to the foundations in the front. He won't be a happy camper today when I tell him about some more I don't want ![]() We had pretty much placed over 50 plants in their pots in the spots they were to be planted on Thursday. It took quite a lot of time and it was miserable weather, snowing and very windy. Later that day a guy came to the door asking if we were finished with the pile of soil near the street curb. Allan tells him "No, we are in the middle of landscaping". Anyway Allan was very suspicious and thought this person might come back in the middle of the night and take all the plants so we took s of where they were and hauled them all into the garage which took us over 30 minutes!!! We called the landscaper and told him about it so he wouldn't freak out when he got here on Friday morning. He had told us earlier that day that when he originally landscaped this house for The Parade of Homes when it was built, he had also done the one next door and was rushed to get everything ready for the opening weekend. Next day he comes back and every single plant had been stolen...just empty holes where they had been So in a way it was his fault we got worried ![]() Once they are in the ground there is nothing we can do if somebody decides they want to take some but insurance should cover that if it happens I will post some pics when he finishes Part 1.Cheryl it sounds like you are getting the weather systems we just had for the last few days. |

Hello, Penny. That is so upsetting about the need to take pictures and put the plants in the garage for safekeeping. The fellow who asked about the dirt should not have even asked. "Go buy your own, buster." How terrible of people to pull out and steal landscaping plants from homes. It's your house and your money so you can ask to put the plants wherever you want. You have an artistic eye so I'm certain the choices you are making are the right ones for you. It will be pleasing to your eyes and that is the main thing. When it is all finished I hope you will share some pictures.

Happy Saturday everyone! We are having a nice day in New Mexico. Weather is supposed to be a little unsettlled with a chance of rain for later. I always love May and mid-September throgh mid-October because it is nice and warm, but we don't need the air conditioning so the house can be opened up. I don't follow the Channel Islands Eagles closely on Facebook, but just noticed the annual NAC is happening. Does anyone know why they quit advertising it here? I guess we have been abandoned by that whole group here and on CHIL chat, though it appears they still do nest obs on Chil. |

Hello there, Linda. Dr. Sharpe is doing the fundraiser on his own. The team wasn't asked to participate. We don't know why (last year, too).

That's not safe for the child or Tiana!!!!! At one point the boy got really close and Tiana could have poked him with her beak. I kept thinking of Banding Days and how the eaglets would jab to protect themselves. Those parents were letting their child be in danger for the sake of a video .... and Tiana was too close / too comfortable with humans.
