Hello, everybody! We have some white lilacs in bloom in our back yard. They don't last very long, though. |

Carol, well done on getting a better insurance deal for your car. Kath, hot chocolate with Bob, what a nice treat. I'm looking forward to your Vivid Sydney pictures. We're going out for lunch with other family members to celebrate my FIL's 93rd birthday. Robert is so much like his Dad. Will check in later. Have a good day, everyone. That is quite the sinkhole in Ottawa. (in more ways than one )

Ozzie - Your day with Bob walking around the city and ending up with a hot chocolate sounds wonderful. Looking forward to your Cheryl - Cute comment about the sinkhole in Ottawa, definitely a double meaning. I'm happy that I didn't buy more flowers and shrubs for our tiny back patio area. Bell was here once again with a machine that tells them what is underground. They sprayed red and yellow paint on the ground but got some of my plants too. They also stuck in some flags to tell the diggers where the gas line and cables are. Hope they don't make too much of a mess when they come to dig. My telephone wires, at present, are up a 40 foot tree and go to the electric box on the next street. I guess they will bury them when they find out where to dig. Carol - Happy to hear you got a great deal on your car insurance Our weather is like yours, very cool yesterday but warming up today with lots of . The evenings will still be cool. Saturday it's supposed to be in the high 80's but it might rain. At least I can now open the windows and not use the A/C.

G'day peeps, my sunny Friday going into a 3 day weekend (Queen's Birthday holiday Monday). Carole, when we had our house painted, I caught one of them shaking his paint brush out over a tree and some bromeliads. I said "what are you doing!!!???" He very sheepishly apologized. Some Bromeliads still have paint on them! Can you cover them or protect them whilst they dig? Have fun at the 93rd BDAY Cheryl. Wow, he looks great for 93. Carol, $1200 car insurance IS expensive! Did you check with the conditions on the new insurer, sometimes your 'excess' will go up for any repairs. For example, you pay $500 for any damage, the Insurers pay the rest, but a discount for insurance will apply if the excess is higher, say $1000. Of course, its all a personal decision how much excess you want to have. Cheryl, our news carried a topic about greyhounds being shipped to China for racing purposes. I was appalled. The conditions in China are awful and most end up being euthanized. Brought tears to my heart. http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/a-dogged-attempt-to-end-greyhound-exports-to-china-20160603-gpbc5o.html |

Kath, I didn't know about greyhounds being raced in China. Kudos to the folks who are keeping an eye on the situation with them being sent now from Ireland. Kudos also to the airlines that have refused to transport the dogs. You had asked about the dress I wore to the wedding. It was black and white so I got my nails done to match. I'll be looking at your Vivid Sydney links once I complete this post. Carole, what a mess you're going through with the internet and other wires. Are you and Alan the first ones in your complex to get the new service? Maybe that's why there is such a problem with the wires (although we weren't first and still had issues). That's really annoying about your plants, grrr. I'm glad you got my joke about Ottawa. They've been doing some funny memes on the news about it, including showing those escaped capybaras looking out of the sinkhole.

Jill, I loved all those good news stories and acts of kindness. We see and hear about so many bad things that happen. This was uplifting. Thanks! The cuddly cats were so cute. I liked the one who 'helped' with the piano playing.

Kath, thanks so much for posting your videos and slideshow for Vivid Sydney. I liked the pictures of you, and the one with you and Bob. The event seems like such a fun family time. There are some very clever and artistic people who figured out how to do all the colours and graphics on the buildings.

Oh, I got confused. Carole had the new dress she bought.... and Cheryl had your nails done! Thank you for your comments about the Vivid Sydney. Mostly sponsored by Intel. My fav, other than the Opera House, is the Jaguar car! Jillers, thanks for the fun video links! So glad its my Friday! |
