Our next port of call after Amber Cove (Dominican Republic) was Grand Turk Island. Most people stayed near the pier at a busy spot called "Margaritaville". It was noisy with wall to wall lounge chairs. Not our thing at all. We've been to this island a couple of other times so we knew what to do. We took a taxi for a short ride to Governor's Beach. There were only a few people there. Our last time there was in 2005. We collect sea glass and it's a good spot for finding some. The surprise was to see this rusty wreck along the shore which we thought was cool. There was a large bird's nest on the top of the mast but I didn't see any birds land on it. The ship is called the Mega One Triton. It washed ashore during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The cost to remove it has been prohibitive. There is no bar there, and no chair rentals, although there are washrooms. It's just a peaceful, beautiful beach. Robert beside the Triton, our ship the Koningsdam in background bird's nest on mast side view I am in my little chair over on the hill. We brought our own small, folding chairs. sea glass collected there - I found the large black and green pieces and Robert found that nice blue piece. I did the happy dance over the two large ones. The black one could be from a champagne bottle or maybe something older. beach other direction

Cheryl - Your glass collection will be growing, very pretty colours. I find that the rusty old boat is an eyesore on such a pretty beach. You were very smart to bring your portable chairs. When Alan and I were on a cruise many years ago, we always left the group and found our ownquiet spot on a beach and enjoyed the scenery without a lot of chatter and noise. |

Cheryl, your beach location looks so divine! Love the rusty ship and the Bird's nest on top. I love collecting Beach Glass and have a jar full somewhere in our yet unpacked shipping boxes. No beaches near here. Something I miss so much. The "Trio" nest situation is so tragic. The Two Dads left tending the chicks Bless them. I have to avoid too much wildlife tragedy to keep from sinking into despair. Ed's health is so worrying. If it gets much worse I may be forced to postpone my trip. He's reassuring that he can manage while I'm gone and delaying it would be a last resort. I am sick at heart to see what's happening to my beloved America, especially in light of all the progress, social, environmental, international, etc, made in recent decades now being eviscerated by a sociopathic "Climate Denier". It's enough to make me consider staying here. I don't know what news outlets some people are listening to but I agree with Time Magazine's cover: "The Truth is Dead", and it's not the news media that's lying! Carole, I agree with your sentiments about hesitating to express unedited political thoughts here. It is allowed but hopefully with diplomacy. A First Amendment Right. I also have to bite my tongue, but not completely, since I feel I'm speaking with friends. As the new leader of the Democratic Party recently characterized the POTUS: "The Worst President in US history"! I'll add to that: the most potentially destructive, and a long string of more scathing adjectives. No offense intended to anyone who has a different view. Right now I'm watching the puppet Press Secretary Briefing of the day on CNN and will have to check my BP afterward. Deb sorry to hear you have to have the surgery. At least you know what to expect, and it heals quickly, if not a bit painfully. Jill, I had a feeling you and Chiquita might be friends. Ozzie, what a scene in the bathroom! I'll bet Snowy was the most surprised. So good to hear Rachel has moved to better lodgings and has recovered from her fall. Sorry Mom isn't doing so well, though. Wishing all a pleasant day/evening wherever you are. |

Oh my ozzie – bad kitty bad kitty wonder if snowy was frantically trying to turn it off so glad you didn’t have a major flood! And where’s my calendar indeed!!!Sorry to hear about your mom – thoughts with all of you Thanks Cheryl and all for your thoughts for my brother – I’ll pass them on to him. It will take a while before they know if this series of shots works – he says they are very painful it’s a thick, milky substance in the tushie – takes a while to get it all done and then quite sore and bruised after but if it works! We’re good! Wonder if they’ll eventually scrap the boat out and have it gone! Sea glass – I always look when we go to the beach but never find anything yours is awesomeMila is out of NICU and IV gone but feeding tube still in as she is very slowly beginning to figure out the eating thing. She's in a private room so mom/dad can stay with her! hoping to be home real soon! very rainy day here - the guy is here at work putting in new tiny hot water heater which was up in the ceiling - crazy and a lot of work - so no bathroom today ![]() I think sun coming tomorrow for a bit then back to more rain - ![]() (but it's not quite April) lol |

Ozzie - Snowy was just trying to be a plumber . Good thing you have a drain. We had a plumber here yesterday to fix a few things. I thought I needed new kitchen taps but all he did was tighten the fittings under the sink. Alan couldn't fit in there and I tried but failed. We need a new cartridge for our master ensuite shower and can't seem to find one. Will have to call the store we bought it from about 3 years ago and maybe they can get one for us. I must have missed your post about your Mom not doing well. Hope things improve soon

G'day Peeps, my overcast Wednesday. Drizzle. Tail end of Cyclone Debbie (you didnt cause too much damage and no lives lost) Carole what is a 'cartridge' used for in a bathroom? (we need a blond gif!)HOORAY #2 Ft Vrain! Jill, thanks for the puzzle. I am puzzled about why it is attributed to 'Karen' I agree with every word you say Kris. I too try to keep my mouf shut. Bob is getting sick of hearing about it. I hope you make your trip, I think you need it! Cheryl, the beach glass is a real treasure! I have a few too, collected on CA beaches. None here in Oz though. Really beautiful beach, did you swim? The old ship is kinda cool, especially the nest at the top! I love hearing about your trip, thanks for taking us along. Debbie, good to hear about Mila progress and sending MoJo thoughts for your Brother. We had a ceiling hot water system but when we moved the bathroom, the system was set up outside that bathroom. I kinda wish we'd put two in, one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom, as you know what happens, cold water in the shower! My friend Monique did that when she built her Townhouse, 2 water systems. Perfect. We arrive in NYC (JFK) on the 29th Aug. and depart on the 10th Sep, staying at the Barclay on East 48th St. We have a theater booking for the 30th, but nothing else as yet. Please check your calendar! I would love to see you and Gary! Hey Carol, whats for dinner tonight?! |

Ozzie - I didn't know what a cartridge was either but Alan explained that it is a gizmo that adjusts the temperature of the water. Sometimes I found the water too hot or too cool and if I turned down the temperature control, it also turned down the water pressure. Hope it gets solved but in the meantime, it's sort of working so I won't complain. What play are you going to see in NYC? |

Oh, I didnt mind the 'Karen' Jill, Carole, thanks for the info on the cartridge. If it works! Rachel has a group of friends who are script writers and theater people. They recommended a list of 'to see' shows and this was one of them ‘Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812’ NY Times review: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/15/theater/natasha-pierre-and-the-great-comet-of-1812-review.html?_r=0 |
