Carole, was it bad weather that caused the deaths of the NCTC eaglets? Sad news, indeed. RIP little ones.

I have no idea Weather seemed fine, food was plentiful but they just didn't make it. Chick #1, I never saw, #2 seemed very weak. It's such a tragedy for the adult parents and all the people who follow this nest.

Good afternoon...Just returned from a late breakfast at the new Italian restaurant near our home. They just started serving breakfast on the weekends a few months ago..menu has a lot to choose from...very good. Nice and warm today so we sat outside...pets are allowed on the patio but no dogs showed up today. We are stuffed so dinner will be light this evening. Last night we went to a retirement dinner for an old friend. The restaurant was situated right on the bay with views of the downtown skyline...the setting sun on the facades of the buildings was beautiful. We calculated that there were over 300 people there...saw lots of old friends. The food was outstanding...I had salmon and DH had steak...both done to perfection. All in all, it was a great evening!! Carol...Pretty picture of the rain... Cheryl...I enjoyed seeing your collection of sea glass. My family has always collected sea glass at Catalina Island. When my mother was young she had quite a collection which I now have. When I'm in Avalon I always walk along the waterline early in the morning to find what I can. It's very difficult to find any large pieces anymore...only small pieces about the size of a dime. Plus, blue glass is hardest to find...green and white seem to be the most common. Got a FB photo from DD this morning...it's a photo of a rattlesnake which they passed as they took the dogs out for their Sunday morning walk. This is a neighborhood path that's a favorite hiking path for the homeowners in this area. She said that it seemed to be just sunning itself and wishing all the skittering humans would just go away. Luckily the dogs were on their short leads and everyone on the path were warning others to beware!!! I doubt that I'd be so nonchalant about it. |

Chiquita - You sure are enjoying yourself with the special breakfast and retirement dinner, everything sounds A rattlesnake would freak me out if I was walking a dog. Good thing your DD's dogs were on a short leash and people were warning others of the snake. Ozzie - Good luck at your doctor's appointment, hope it's just a routine check-up As you are entering your fall season, spring was in the air today, lots of sunshine, not that warm yet, but Alan did get to rake up all the leaves and mess in the back patio/garden. He also hosed off the front terrace and got rid of all the salt that the condo puts down to melt the ice. I wrote the condo manager a few months ago and told him that the maintenance people put down enough salt to melt the ice in Antarctica and the Arctic. He did respond and said that they would be less generous with the salt. Wishing everyone a great week! |
