Kris, thanks for the Outlander link. I hadn't seen that one before! Maybe Ed will compromise by helping you to set up the second TV.

Jill, I'll have a look at the innovative medical news when Robert walks the dogs. He has the TV on right now so I can't hear it - started but shut it off for a while.

Kath, I had a look at the place you visited and the restaurant. The furniture and decor items must have been interesting to see. Too bad about the restaurant experience. It had good reviews but things must have gone downhill ... or of course they only published the good comments. Your climate is amazing, being able to plant watermelon and flower seeds in the winter. What a fright for both you and the bandicoot.

Carole, I'm still thinking about your lemon meringue pie. :Yum: You should take a picture of it to share with us the next time you make it.

We were at my sister and brother-in-law's home for a family gathering yesterday. It was a perfect summer's day with sunshine and a bit of a breeze. There were 20 people there including Robert and myself, Matthew, and Ian and Allison. There was a lot of food brought by everyone (even Matthew made appetizers). I made potato salad. Last year there wasn't enough so I asked Robert to peel a few extra potatoes. I think I made a bit too much but the bowl full was a thing of beauty.
:D

I have an appointment with my handsome doctor to have my surgery sites checked for healing and progress I guess. My face looks pretty good but my shin not so much. Nurse Allison and my sister both looked at them yesterday and agreed. BBL :<<o>>:

Sarah and Brad took Jossy and Aaron up to her parent's cottage in Bracebridge, (up north) for a two week holiday. Unfortunately Sarah's Dad had a heart attack on
Friday and he is in the hospital in Newmarket. They had to put in 2 stents and maybe another 2 today or tomorrow. Susan and Ruby went up there to help them out
with the kids who both have colds and coughs. It never rains, it pours. :(

Oh, dear, what a shock with Sarah's Dad, Carole. Best of luck for the possible more surgery today and his recuperation. Thank goodness Susan and Ruby are able to help out with the little ones.

Thanks :Hugs:

Sarah's Mom insisted that the kids and gkids stay at the cottage so that's the plan for now. The hospital is probably halfway between their city house and the
cottage but there won't be much traffic up north. Keeping :X: that all goes well.

Another "Monday, Monday..". :P

Carole, so sorry to hear of Sara's Dad's heart surgery. Now many such surgeries are almost routine and hopefully he'll be better than "new" after it. :X: A small blessing you won't have to babysit for two sick kids. The older I get the more I avoid any possible source of "catching something".

Cheryl, your Potato Salad looks divine! :Yum: I used to make a mean one myself but with Ed's food intolerances and the discouraging prospect of making something like that just for one, I haven't made it in years. They do sell small containers of "Deli Style" at the local Co-Op that's not bad but nothing like the real homemade thing. BTW: Did you notice at the last of the Twilight Zone clip I posted there's a very prescient moment when the Dad notices it's snowing and asks the monster child if he was doing it. When the kid says "Yes" the Dad loses it and says "Do you know what this will do to the crops...!!???" His wife anxiously intercedes, calming him down before the monster child takes further offense and retaliates. I thought of the snow the kid monster was creating as a metaphor for Climate Change manifesting now, assisted and accelerated by new policies that threaten years of gains to protect environment and its inhabitants. :candle:

Carole, I've had thoughts of your Lemon Merengue Pie too. :Yum: My favorite Pie! They have frozen ones here  but none that are like back home. :( I have two recipes that I'd traditionally made. But, Ed can't tolerate Lemon or too much sugar with his intestinal issues, and the electric mixer we have has US voltage requirements and won't work here without an expensive voltage converter. The sacrifices we make! :hair:

Jill, amazing medical developments for the future. And hoping by then there'll be a truly fair and compassionate Health Care plan in place for all Americans. :X:

Jill, K-9 needs back-up! :P I watched the medical video, brilliant. :)^ :)^

Kris, I did notice the snow and thought of climate change. That's a scary TZ segment considering how long ago it was made. :(

Carole, I hope all is going as well as possible this afternoon. :X: I will post the recipe below, but I made a lot more for a big crowd, just generally following the ingredients but expanding everything. This is the third time I've made it for a big family crowd. Robert gets stuck peeling the potatoes. We used about 22 large potatoes.

Dilly Potato Salad

4 cups cooked, cubed, waxy potatoes

1/2 cup mayonnaise (I used Miracle Whip)

2 Tbsp. milk

3 green onions (I used chopped, fresh chives instead)

fresh dill weed ... large bunch from the store all chopped up except stems (when recipe is doubled, depends what you like)

salt and pepper to taste

Day before: Peel, prepare, cut potatoes into about 6ths or 8ths and cook. Cool in fridge. Later, cut into cubes.

Day before (dressing): Mix all other ingredients and keep dressing in a covered container in fridge to blend flavours. I doubled (actually tripled I think) the recipe for the dressing, so does my niece who gave me this recipe. It depends if you want a dry style of potato salad or a moister one.

Morning: Mix dressing gently with potatoes, tossing carefully a bit at a time. If not enough dressing could add a bit more milk to dressing a bit at a time, just watch to see if you might run out as you do this in stages. It depends what you want it to turn out like, a moist or dryer salad.

Cheryl - Thanks so much for the recipe, I love anything that has dill in it, sounds delicious :Yum:

Kris - Frozen lemon meringue pie doesn't sound good, home made is the best.

When we were in the UK I bought a cheap converter for my blow dryer (purchased in Canada) and it worked beautifully. It should work for all electric
appliances you use in the UK.

G'day Peeps, my clear and crisp Tuesday, August the 1st. We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon so the morning was particularly sparkly!
Today I have a haircut appt and will do some shopping of Rachel's want list. :P

Carole, very upsetting for the Sara and family, hope the 2nd surgery goes well and recovery is quick. Lucky that Susan and Ruby are available to look after the kiddies.

Cheryl, you are lucky to have a nurse in the family! The gathering sounds so much fun. I absolutely LOVE potato salad. I have a similar style but use chopped celery and dill pickles instead of the fresh dill. I also prefer Best Foods, I find MWhip too sweet.

Scaramucci is FIRED!!! >O< Glad that mouth is gone!

Kris, I know how you feel about missing particular foods. Tacos and enchaladas in particular for me.

Jill, Carol, Linda, Deb, hope you are all well.
