Kath, I loved seeing and hearing the kookaburra in your yard! It will be so nice for you and Bob to visit with friends and family in the USA.

Carole, I hope you are feeling better this morning. Any word about Sarah's father? How is Alan doing?

The ship in a bottle gif that I posted yesterday had me thinking of "Voyager" and Jamie and Claire.

We got a lot of rain yesterday and overnight, too. :rn: :rn:

Hello to everyone, wishing you a good day, whatever your plans.

Cheryl - I'm feeling quite a bit better, I think it was stress that upset my tummy. Thanks for asking :Hugs:

Sarah's Dad is doing well and will be going up to the cottage this weekend. Sarah will be delighted as she is a real "Daddy's Girl" :P

Alan is doing well so we are going to London for 3 or 4 days to see Charlene and the girls. When Alan is there he is always working and
doing repairs to help out Charlene. I gave him strict orders that he isn't to over do it or we will go home.

Ozzie
- Leo looked and sounded like he was on a mission to get the Kookaburra. rofl

Carole, good health news all around then for yourself, Sarah's Dad, and Alan. Enjoy your weekend with Charlene and the girls. Maybe you'll have more pictures of her cute house and yard to share when you return.

G'day peeps, end of my sunny Saturday! I woke up feeling depressed. Nightmare last night, someone 'after' me. Made worse when I weighed myself to see I'd gained 5 pounds from 3 weeks ago. How'd that happen?!!! I am actually using a daily calorie counter for the last 3 weeks, and believe me, most of my days are under 1500 calories a day, and maybe once a week over 2000, so to gain weight is very upsetting. I'm gonna have the Doctor check it out when I get back.

Today was our last 'Dig the World' art lecture. Today was about Ur and Carchemish (Mesopotamia). A lot of info about the people who were the early archaeologists on these sites. Did you know Agatha Christie was an amateur and where she met her 2nd husband, Max Mallowan (on the site of Ur). Lots of other initimate details of these early archaeologists, including the political scene of Anatoli (Turkey) and upper Near East Asia areas. That was intriguing to me because I'd read a book about the early history of Turkey in anticipation of going there (last year). Iain Shearer (the lecturer) also talked about TE Lawrence's family history, early beginnings as an archaeologist, then (spy) military officer, and his diplomatic influence. TE Lawrence was born out of wedlock (1888) to Thomas Chapman (who became, in 1914, Sir Thomas Chapman, 7th Baronet), an Anglo-Irish nobleman from County Westmeath, and Sarah Junner, a Scottish governess who was herself illegitimate. Turns out Sarah's employment was "doors down" from where Iain's parents live (real trivia, lol). The story is she left her position to be the governess to Chapman's 4 daughters. They fell in love (he apparently had a loveless marriage although it couldnt have been TOO bad with 4 daughters!). His wife refused the divorce application so he and Sarah 'ran off' together to Wales. Set up home, 5 more kids including TE Lawrence who showed himself to be of high intellect from an early age. I love this sort of trivial history!

Carole, good news about all the positive health turns. Say hi to Charlene!
The Octogon looks VERY elegant! How was the food?

rofl "lost cellphone". I have lost mine in the garden a couple of times! :8O: :*:

Jill, thanks for sharing 'just a dog'. I watched 'A street cat named Bob' the other night, LOVED IT!

Tomorrow we have a luncheon on. Peter & Lilly with Bob's eldest son, Brian and partner Madelyn. Easy menu. BBQ. baked taters, 2 kinds of salads. Might send Bob for another run at 'freebies' at the shopping mall, tomorrow's is Apple Strudel!
