Kath, I'm glad you've been able to have a visit with your mother. You must be planning your visits for the mornings when she is more alert. I saw pictures on FB of you and Bob enjoying the beach.

Linda, what a fine list of places to visit in NYC. I'd like to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and MOMA as well. It sounds like you have a flexible plan and I think that's the best kind. Enjoy! As you said, you'll be back to visit Amy again so you can just do a bit at a time. Best of luck to her BF in finding a job so they can get an apartment and feel more settled.

Carole, the skies are darkening here so you might be in for some rain as well. I didn't know there were four colours of Rose of Sharon! I am thinking of digging out my day lily bed. They are so much work keeping the dead flowers off and the long leaves cleaned up as they yellow. They don't seem to be worth the effort anymore. Maybe a Rose of Sharon or two would be the answer. I want something to attract the bees and butterflies. Right now they are enjoying my bee balm and echinacea.

Did anyone else watch the special on Princess Diana? It was on for two evenings, two hours per episode. I thought it was outstanding. It showed the story of her journey through adversity in her childhood with her mother leaving, her fairytale wedding (I got up at 5 am to watch the wedding and watched it all day that day) and then the failure of her marriage, and afterwards to see her grow and develop into a strong woman who became a force for goodness and change in the world. I loved the way it was all presented, the good and the bad.

G'day peeps, from beautiful Ventura! Its a lovely day out today and we have plans for attending the Fair in the afternoon after visiting Mom .

Thanks for the WC updates Cheryl, always brings a smile to soul to read his writing!

Linda, my daughter has a theater friend in NYC who suggested seeing 'The great comet of 1812'. We have tickets, I think there are some still available. It is an usual set in that the play revolves around the audience.
Like you, we are having problems choosing what to see!

Bob just found out he is a GRANDPA! First one. Girl. 2.6k

Cheryl - These are the colours of Charlene's Rose of Sharon and I think she also had a deep violet one but I don't have a photo.

The blossoms keep falling making a bit of a mess but tons more bloom and there are so many buds.

If you find it too much work in the lily bed, try the Rose of Sharon, but they do grow very high.

The sky is darkening here too and rain and thunder showers are predicted for later on and tomorrow as well.

I'm sorry I missed the Diana special but I am sure it will be played again.

We watched the tennis last night and 18 year old Denis Shapovalov, a Canadian, beat Raphael Nadal, what a great match.
Tonight he is playing a French person in the quarter finals. "GO DENIS GO"

Friday Greetings to All. :)

Carole, beautiful pics of Charlene's garden. And lovely graphic of the Hoopoe. They migrate to the UK in Summer and are one of the most colorful Birds here. I've never seen one but Ed has.

Cheryl, thanks for the continuing Whooper updates. :Hugs: The "Woodpecker" one is unusually colored. The Diana special has been of some controversy here and I'm not sure if it's been fully aired here. There was some protest from the Royals, and we don't get the premium channel it might have aired on. Diana's story is compelling history and I watch programs on her when possible. Ed is so anti-Royal he won't watch anything to do with them. :hair: Ironic since my British lineage is through the Windsors.

Ozzie, congrats to Bob in becoming a Grandpa. :><: Your Mom must have been so happy to see you, and you her. Ah, to be in SoCal! My soul will reside there no matter where I transition. <3

Poor Ed has been stricken with an extremely painful condition in one of his feet. He can barely walk more than a few yards! :'( This week he's had X-Rays and blood tests to try to determine the cause. He needs another X-Ray and maybe an MRI to try to further diagnose it. :( Meanwhile he's hobbled and very distressed to have this to add to his list of disabling ailments. It's most likely related to his whole body arthritis. :'(

We did manage to have dinner last night at the new Mexican restaurant that recently opened in Marlborough, a small town about 8 miles from us. We took a taxi so I could have a Margarita and not have to drive. It was pricey and, to a Mexican Food connoisseur :P it was not the best, but excellent for a country that has very few Mexican restaurants, and none near us until now. The Margaritas were great but small and expensive. You can't have it all. :D

I guess Kim Jung Fat Boy hasn't launched any nukes so far today, but the other Fat Boy can't keep his mouth shut! :hair: Shouldn't Twitter pull an account that's user is aiding and inciting a possible Nuclear War?? :dvl: :'(

Good evening...Nice to be back home after our vacation, but, I have such mixed feelings...would love to stay forever but I'm very content to get back to my home and garden routine. We leave the place in the capable hands of our neighbors and my daughter so Sunday night I'll have them all over for manicotti dinner...just something simple to say "thanks". I've decided not to make my killer lemon meringue pie but instead I'll get one from Marie Callendar's this time. Still have a couple more loads of laundry to do and a bit more paperwork to finish up. I started the ironing this afternoon and my iron was dead. DH had it fixed in about 15 min...thank goodness!!!

The roofers will begin in 10 days. Will be so glad when that job is done.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
