Good to hear from you, Kath. Glad you liked the pink theme! It's a small world with Bob's son in Toronto for work. It must feel good to have visits with your mother in person, seeing her and hugging her, rather than on the phone. |

We tried a tropical plant this year that we have never grown before. It is called a brugmansia. It's taller than I am! We had to reserve it at the nursery because they only sell a few each year. My sister buys several and that's who gave us the idea. It gets huge yellow blossoms on it which darken as they age into a peach colour. Also, on the right, is our aloe plant. We only have it outside for the warmest months. This summer it grew a spike for the first time ever. That's my limelight hydrangea in behind, with the white flowers.![]() ![]()

Good morning. Woke up to some heavy drizzle this morning and much cooler temps...very unusual for this time of year. Cheryl...We see very few brugmansia here in San Diego. My grandmother had one in her back yard which was in San Pedro, CA. When I was around four yrs. old , I remember standing on a little bamboo stool placed next to the plant so someone could take a photo of me holding one of the blooms. My grandfather was a self taught botanist and sought out unusual plants for his yard. I seem to remember seeing plants in his yard that I no longer see in nurseries. When they moved out of that home, he was able to take many of them to their new home. I don't know why I remember his unusual plants when I was only five!!!! I will have to check out a limelight hydrangea for my daughter as she enjoys those plants. Hope we hear from Carol soon. |

Cheryl - Your flowers are so beautiful and so artistically displayed. The burgmansia is gorgeous. Chiquita - Your grandparent's green thumb rubbed off on you Ozzie - Thanks for checking in with us. Glad you are spending time with your Mom and Karen. It's sunny and about 72 F. but more thunder showers are predicted later in the day. Alan went out yesterday to do his errands and I got bored so I weeded the garden, hosed off the terrace and front stairs and then swept and hosed out the garage. Needless to say, I was tired and fell asleep around 9:00 p.m.

Cheryl, you have some gorgeous plants! When I see a yard as lush as that, it takes my breath away. It is a whole different ball game when you live in a place that is as hot and dry as New Mexico.
