Carole, thanks for your concern about Wynn. He has had a good past few days. After his check-up last Thursday he seemed to be stressed and in pain. He only had a check-up and blood drawn so we don't know why he felt awful but he did. We gave him anti-nausea pills and a pain pill or two. We think maybe he was just stressed from the drive and visit. He's doing better now. The check-up results themselves were good - some concern over a count for his kidneys but we are to keep feeding him the renal food and giving him the oil squirted in his mouth and blood pressure meds. He's going for regular walks and is happy and playing. I know when he doesn't feel good because he goes to the laundry room and messes up all the mats, trying to gather them into a pile for a bed - instead of using his nice bed in the family room, or one of the sofas. That's what he was doing on Thursday and Friday.

:bday: Happy Birthday to Doreen! I hope you had a fun night out!

Cheryl - 4 sets of whooper twins is amazing, love the updates. <3

If only dogs could speak, but they do let us know when they don't feel well. Maya won't eat, even her treats, and I can hear her tummy grumble.
It eventually settles down and she is back to normal. She is on a veterinary gastro diet for breakfast, gets cottage cheese for lunch and is self feeding
with her kibble whenever she wants it.

Hoping that Wynn stays stable but by the sound of it he is enjoying his walks and playtime :)^ :><:

We had a great evening. The company was fun and chatty, the food delicious and it was nice to just be with the girls.

I'll pass on your birthday wishes to Doreen, thanks.

Alan is coming to Costco with me soon, I seem to be there every 3 weeks or so, always running out of something.

Tonight we are having filet of sole, mashed potatoes and of course peas, so Alan can mix the peas into the taters, he has such funny eating habits. rofl

Right now it is :*: but will cloud up and more rain expected. The only good thing about the rain is that I don't have to water the garden.

Well, knock me over with a feather! :o My Mom called my sister yesterday and she and her friend want to come to view the empty apartment at the retirement residence in Stratford. :><: The apartment is booked with someone moving in on the 22nd. This does give them a chance to see what the two-bedroom would look like.

After phone conversations with her from me, then my sister and one of my brothers about ten days ago, we had given up on trying to convince her to come and have a look while one was empty. There was no way she was interested. My sister even ramped it up and got quite annoyed with her.

Then last weekend Mom went out for lunch with her friend. They've been friends for over 50 years. Despite the fact that she was against it I guess my Mom started talking about us asking her to have a look or put her name on the list (my sister already put her name on the list and gave a deposit but we haven't told her that. We can turn it down and keep her spot on the list if she isn't ready to move when an empty apartment comes up.). Helen told my Mom that it seemed like a really nice place and that her family would like her to move closer as well. She has three sons (I used to babysit them) who live in Waterloo and the Toronto area. I think right now Helen is an angel on earth for showing an interest and saying she had a desire to see the place. <3 It seems to have nudged my mother forward.

Tomorrow my sister and BIL will go and pick them up (one hour each way, then take them home again, another two hours). I will meet them at the retirement residence. My sister, Mom, Helen and I will have lunch at the retirement residence and then a tour.

We are really in shock but a happy kind of shock. My BIL did a lot of research regarding house prices and made a spreadsheet which they will go over with Mom to show she can definitely afford to live there. (That's just one on her long list of excuses.)

I still can't believe it.

Carole, Mia gets a grumbly tummy and is on gastro food, just like Maya. How busy was Costco today? We don't have a membership.

Chiquita, I wanted to mention how much I enjoyed your memory story of your grandpa and his unusual plants. Like Carole, I think you've inherited his green thumb and love of gardening.

Wow, Cheryl! So happy your mom has agreed to at least go look at it. It does sound like a nice place. All elders have a mile-long list of excuses. My mom worried so much about money. She had suffered with chronic heart failure for many years, and a few months before I had to move her, she again told me she didn't think she could afford it. I was completely honest with her and told her there was no way she would outlive her money. She didn't have a huge amount, but what she had, she saved herself after she and my dad divorced about 1970. I do think she worried about being able to leave some to my brother since he is disabled and (due to bad decisions all his life) has very little. I did understand that, but you have to take care of yourself first. Anyway, I hope you all have a pleasant day, the tour is wonderful, and she will decide to move on her own.

Thank you, Linda. It really helps to learn from your comments and those of others that what we are going through is fairly common. It helps with our patience and strategies so I appreciate it. As you said, our Moms saved their entire lives and at some point they need to think about their own well-being. You were such a good support for your mother. :Hugs:

Cheryl, I always try to remember that before too many years, we will be the stubborn ones when our kids are trying to do what they think is best for us. rofl

Agreed, I am trying not to grumble or say too much to my kids about the situation, just staying positive when I make comments and hoping I will remember this when it comes to be my time. ;)
