This is a cute video of a baby okapi who was born at the San Diego Zoo. I remember when we used to watch an okapi cam from somewhere in Europe. Carole, I think you used to post screen caps from there. Anyway, I thought folks might be interested in seeing this little one. I did see them in person at this zoo several years ago, along with the pandas.

Cheryl - Such a cute video of the baby okapi. I like his floppy ears :P .

You have such a great memory, I did post pictures of the baby okapi being born and growing up. I think I deleted all the old photos :o

Photo of Charlene at the recycling junk place yesterday. Thank goodness she has a good friend who has a flat-bed truck and
he helped her take all the stuff there. This was a job Alan and I couldn't do, we are too old

A big smile for a job well done!!!Posted Image

Carole, it always feels so good to get rid of all the junk. Charlene looks like she feels so much better! She has such a nice smile, too. Have fun with the kiddos today.

We just had a company rep here to give us a price on a new furnace and air conditioner. Our furnace is 30 years old. The new one will be much more efficient. It's painfully expensive but hopefully it will be worth it for better comfort and safety and reliability. I didn't want the furnace to quit on us on a freezing January day. They will be here for a full day next week for the installation.

Cheryl - Many years ago our furnace quit on us on the coldest winter day. (-20 F.) When the repairmen cam to check it, they shut it down, it was disintegrating and very dangerous. They supplied us with several electric heaters and I had both fireplaces going to keep us warm. I even had to light both ovens and leave the doors open to get heat in the kitchen. It was a nightmare. It took 2 days to get the new furnace but it only lasted 15 years.

About 4 years ago we replaced our furnace with a high efficiency one and at the same time got a new A/C. They are both wonderful and we have them serviced once a year.

You are doing the right thing, why wait for trouble. In the end the cost is worth it, you do save quite a bit on the heating bill.

Good luck with the installation, the perfect time of year to do it. :)^

Alan and I are both exhausted from the kiddies. Aaron has become such a Mommy's boy, all he wants is Sarah. I couldn't even feed him his dinner, he kept crying for his Mom. Jossy was great but also competes for Sarah's attention. It's a difficult stage for her but she is going back to work after Labour Day and both kids will be in daycare. It will be good for all of them.
