Hi Jill. Love your new BE sig pic. Tuesday Greetings to all you dear ladies. Ed has been suffering with what is now plainly a broken bone in his foot, but the medical system here is incompetent in dealing with such a thing in a timely manner. His first X-Ray was inconclusive but the degree of his incapacity can only be from a broken mid-foot bone. Added to his other ailments it's put him on the edge of tolerance at times. The next appointment offered in the next town was Sept. 12, when another X-Ray could be ordered!! He's too unwell to travel to the nearest hospital for ER treatment, which is the only way he'd be able to have an X-Ray and a cast at the same time. Our small village has very limited services. Meanwhile, he's ordered bulk clay on eBay and has a book on how to home treat things, and how to make casts. He's very knowledgeable about Holistic Medicine, and with the lack of access to timely care he's been treating himself. It probably will take longer to heal his way, and extend his pain induced irritable state of mind. But medical care here is slowly forthcoming. It makes my brain boil to know I have great retiree insurance and services, but only in the US! And access to care would be so much more timely. Apologies for complaining. The ominous signs of Autumn and Winter are beginning to show, and I'd hoped we wouldn't have to spend another Winter here. I this is a bit of an odd video but an amazing display of human creativity and synchronized movement. You might want to mute the soundtrack, or not.

Kris - Sorry to hear about Ed's possible broken bone in his foot. Should he really be treating it himself without an x-ray? What is usually done is a pre-cast x-ray followed up by an x-ray with the cast on to make sure everything is aligned up properly so the bone will heal well. I am not against any Holistic medical treatment but when it comes to bones fusing together, an x-ray is the only way to confirm that it is set properly and only an Orthopedic doctor can confirm this along with a radiologist. Good luck

Good evening, peeps. Mia had her annual vet check and shot today. Wynn went along just as a participant. He can't have any shots because they would be too hard on his immune system. Our vet was glad to see him and look him over, just with no charge, because I guess it's interesting to see Wynn now that his treatments are completed. He hasn't seen him since his original diagnosis, when he got Wynn a very fast appointment with the university oncology program. Mia needs Wynn's calming presence. Her anxiety has escalated each time we take her to the vet's. We think it's because she was spayed there and is afraid she is going to be left behind. Tomorrow is the day our new furnace and air conditioner will be installed. I may not be able to check in here. Chiquita, that is great that you like your choice for the new shingles. The design sounds really nice. Everyone just has regular rectangular shingles here, with a few houses that have the very expensive metal roofs. We'll both be cleaning up our homes once the renos are finished. Jill, that photo of Pimu is so crisp. It captures her feisty personality, too. Kris, I hope Ed's broken foot bone can be repaired soon. That's a shame about the long wait for medical treatment with a broken bone! It could heal in the wrong way before he is even seen. He's an inventive guy trying to work on it by himself but I hope he can see a doctor to make sure it heals properly. The weather is turning here, too. I can feel it in the air. The children go back to school next Tuesday, right after Labour Day on Monday. We went out for dinner last night for our anniversary, a bit depressing since we were in Scotland last year on the 28th.

For the people of Houston and the rest of the regions affected by Hurricane Harvey .... The situation seems to be getting even worse this evening.

This is interesting, give it a try.... How long will you live? The calculator estimates your life expectancy. Watch your age in the upper right corner! You watch your age go up and down as you answer the questions. It was developed by Northwestern Mutual Life. There are only 13 questions, yet they can predict, with considerable accuracy, how long you're likely to live. http://media.nmfn.com/tnetwork/lifespan/#0 |

Carole, thank you for your commiserations. He has had an inconclusive X-Ray but has to wait until Sept 12 to see an orthopedist who can then order a re-X-Ray! No help available otherwise since he's too unwell to go to Swindon's Hospital ER. It's too far and I can't drive it. He can't tolerate the long bus ride and chooses to immobilize his foot himself until he can see the doctor again. It's very frustrating! In SoCal he'd have had excellent treatment within 24 hours! The health system here is in crisis and doctors are hard to see in a timely manner.
