I'm sorry that I wasn't here the past couple of days. The furnace and AC installation on Wednesday wore me out. It was very noisy with two guys crashing about, going in and out my glass front door and up and down the stairs, bringing tubes and duct stuff inside and the messy old furnace outside, drilling holes to the outside for new piping, installing a new thermostat in the living room (I covered the carpet) and so on. They were here for 11 and a half hours. Afterwards I needed to vacuum both the basement and main floor, clean marks off the walls a bit (Not too bad) and wash the floors. Yesterday I finished up what I was too tired to do on Wednesday night. I'm glad we did it and have new, more reliable and efficient systems. |

Kath, thanks for checking in! You and Bob are having a great tour of the USA. Cool sighting of the pika! Enjoy your time with Rachel. I have seen your FB photos as well. You will be exhausted by the time you are finished but what a trip!

Another blistering hot day today... Cheryl...Sometimes you wonder if our improvements are worth all the work and mess. I feel as though I'm right there with you when you speak of the clean-up after a home improvement project. Our new roof brought the same daily clean-up after the workmen left...when they were through for the day, they did spend a good amount of time cleaning up the outside. Unfortunately, the use of the blower sent so much of the small debris under the garage door, etc. I have never been a fan of the blower...I just like to get out the broom and dust pan and be rid of it once and for all. It was all the fine dust that we found in the shower (we had the skylight replaced in that bathroom), on the floors and counter tops and furniture. We'd spend a good hour each evening doing our indoor clean-up. I do love our new roof...now we wait for rain to test it!!! Got up early this morning before the heat and washed off parts of our house...got most of the back done and part of one side. The fine debris builds up on the edges of the stucco (white) so I like to get that off. Hope to get more of the stucco done tonight. Trying to think of something different to take to our annual Labor Day neighborhood get together...deviled eggs, for sure...maybe some brownies and a big bowl of fruit!!! |
