Good morning! Today is voting day in Ontario for the provincial government. We walked to the neighbourhood church which is our polling station. I went in first while Robert stayed with the dogs. The check-in was easy, so was the voting booth. Then there was a glitch at the machine that counts the votes. The very shaky elderly man running the machine was having great difficulty sliding the enclosed voting sheet into the machine. The line-up kept growing. Most folks there were probably just hoping to do a quick vote and head off to work. After a long wait and multiple tries he gave up on the neighbour in front of me, whose name is Robert, and he stepped aside. Mine went through lickety split so I went out to hold the dogs. Eventually the neighbour Robert came outside and he said his finally went through. We were having a long visit and my Robert was taking ages to come outside. Eventually he did make it out with a big frown on his face. There had been a big problem with his voting page to the point that he handed the page and folder to the woman in charge and left because she asked him to step out of the long line. There was no way he'd do that and then have to go to the back of the line, he's Mr. Impatient. Robert the neighbour joked that maybe the machine didn't like anyone named Robert. They had the wrong person running the machine. While I was waiting I wondered what would happen, do we take our voting sheets home and return later? That wouldn't be right. Do we stand there until they get a new machine? People who have to get to work wouldn't be thrilled about that. There were a lot of scenarios going through my mind. It was simpler and faster when we just put our folded voting sheet in the box.So that's my day so far.

G'day Peeps, grey Friday. More rain (and predicted for another week on and off!!) Cheryl, what is it these voting machines cant work properly? The CA elections yesterday went smoothly, except for the 118000 people inadvertently left off the voter rolls! A couple of movie stars too, the Fonz! so it was a big booboo. Fortunately one can still vote by putting in a provisional ballot. Rachel went to Chicago over the weekend, her close friend got married. Dr. & Dr. Wang. The second picture is Nina, her closest Chicago friend who is actually from Calgary, I forget the guys name (another friend). The third pic needs no explanation ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Good Evening...Nothing much happening around here...which is OK by me!!! Daughter and SIL returned from their European trip...they sent lots of photos...so green in Switerland and Norway. Their last evening was in Paris attending the Diner en Blanc. This year it was at the Esplande des Invalides...over 20,000 people having dinner in the evening on the lawn...a fun, fun evening. Everything is white, tablecloth, napkins, etc. along with your table decorations which can include beautiful flower arrangements, candles, etc. Everyone dresses up fancy in white...you really have to see the photos on line to get the picture. They went to the after party at a place named "Faust"...didn't get back to their hotel room until 2:30AM and had to be up at 6AM to catch the Chunnel to London to catch their plane back to the US. They always try to include several different types of transportation when they travel...they even found a finicular to ride (forgot which country that was in). I've never used a voting machine...we use the mail in ballot. |
