Deb, it's nice to hear what you are up to these days. Fifty boys .... that's more than a large classroom full of teenagers. Congratulations on the graduating ones. Thank goodness you found a good doctor with a plan of treatment. Enjoy your hike today.

Linda, have a wonderful holiday with your hubby and a great visit with Amy. You must be so excited to see her. If you haven't seen Niagara Falls before, be prepared to be amazed. I'd recommend the Maid of the Mist for a close-up thrill.

Have a great Saturday, everyone.

Cheryl, what a lovely scene with your beautiful Doggies on the deck. And great pics of the Spring Birds at the feeder. :)^ I see the Sun is making an appearance where you are. The weather forecasters keep promising more of it for us, but I had to put on thermals this morning. :( They say next week might be a little warmer. :X:

When I was in SoCal last Spring it was pretty warm and I had a hard time dealing with the heat after so long in cooler climes. It seems a choice between one extreme or another. :hair: I lived there most of my life but as I've gotten older heat has become as difficult to deal with as cold is. At this point in his physical condition Ed feels utterly unable to face a move of any kind and cannot finish and submit his visa application until he does. :'( We agonise over what we should do for the future, given our difference in ages and how Ed might manage, or not, if we did go back and I was disabled or worse. As Jim Morrison said in a song: "The future's uncertain and the end is always near."

Carole I wish we could approach our landlord to put a screen on our chimney to avoid such Bird mishaps but we're so shell-shocked from landlords who ousted us for asking for reasonable maintenances that we have to hope no other Birds fall into it. If another one does we'll have to decide then what to do. For now he seems to be the most hands off landlord we've had and as long as we don't complain too much we hope to be reasonably secure here. :X: :X:

Happy Weekend Wishes for All. :}^

Cheryl - Wynn and Mia are beautiful, they look like a Royal Couple, so elegant!

You get such a variety of visiting birds, wish I could have a feeder but condo rules are preventing it.

Deb - So good hearing from you. Sorry to hear of your Fuch disorder, but at least it can be corrected.

So many scouts means you and Gary are doing such a great job they want to be in your troop!

A 5 mile hike :8O: , you are really in good shape :><:

Say hi to Gary from Alan and me.

It's disappointing that we haven't been to NY to visit Bev and see you, but things have just got in the way and medical issues
prevail at this time, nothing serious, just Alan traveling when on a new medication, a no-no.

Kris
- Sorry to hear that you can't even ask for a chimney screen, landlords in the UK seem to be a PITA.

We had a fun day today. It was Alan's sister Eleanor's 92nd birthday. Her daughter Cathy with her DD Nicole and boyfriend Max made a picnic lunch at the nursing home.
We ate on the patio and it was so nice.

We had party sandwiches, Greek salad, homemade cheese scones and I brought a bottle of white wine and made spritzers. Dessert was a very special apple pie. Cheryl you will know it, Chudleighs.

Maya was there with us and had a good time too. Eleanor has Alzheimer's but seemed quite happy. When we left, I said "I love you" and she said "I love you too", I was so
happy. We also Skyped with her son in Hawaii who lives near the volcano and stays indoors when he can because of the toxic air. Unfortunately his job for the government
at this terrible time is re-locating people who are in a dangerous area near the volcano. He used to be in the orchid business and the whole field where he grew them is now
covered with lava and ash, it really is a terrible situation.

Carole, Happy Birthday wishes for Eleanor. :bday: The gourmet picnic everyone put together sounds especially delicious. Maya must have added to the festivities. How sweet to have Eleanor respond to you. <3

My sister and BIL have cancelled their plans for Hawaii for next winter. Their grandchildren were going to come for a couple of weeks to do all their favourite things such as snorkelling. With the vog and the fact that their grandson has asthma they don't want to take a chance. The volcano just keeps going and going with no end in sight. That is sad news about the orchid farm.

Kris, if by chance another bird gets down the chimney you and Ed have the confidence to get it out. I understand your hesitancy about asking the landlord for a screen but it shouldn't have to be that way. I am definitely not wearing warm clothes today but we have had a very cold spring for the most part.

Cheryl - What island did your sister go to in Hawaii? The toxic air can probably blow to all the islands so their decision to cancel the trip is smart. My nephew Gordon said he was having trouble breathing and he is about 40 miles away from the volcano. Hawaii depends on tourism and this is a real bummer.

Thanks for your birthday :bday: wishes for Eleanor :Hugs:

Carole, they always stay on the Big Island on the Kona side. I asked her if maybe they could try Maui instead but they aren't interested. They're going to go to the Caribbean instead. I'm not sure they're going to like that (leaning towards Curacao which would not be our first choice). They usually stay in Hawaii for 2 months.
