Cheryl - We had the best time yesterday. Rain didn't stop the festivities and some people stayed outside under the outdoor kitchen as it has a roof, while others were swimming. :P

Rob and Lori (Doreen's son and DIL) are the perfect hosts. Lori's BIL played the drums and Doreen's SIL was on guitar and mandolin. He is a great singer too.

Doreen and I danced up a storm and I even took the microphone and did the vocals to a country and western song that I knew the words to. rofl

There were tons of munchies and vegetable platters all over the place. At 7:00 a.m. Lori and a friend prepared 50 hamburgers and set up the buffet table on one of the kitchen islands. The other island was the bar. We also had hotdogs with all the trimmings.

Alan and I know Lori's family very well so it was fun to be with her 82 year old mother and her 2 sisters, who all danced and sang.

Doreen's great-granddaughter Avery was the star. She is 10 months old and walks while using a push toy, so cute. She also had a ball eating Doreen's ice-cream cone. The crowd didn't scare her at all. Lori's Mom brought her little dog, Prince George and he behaved perfectly.

So many friends and neighbours also came and joined in the fun. Several of them baked such delicious desserts, brownies, biscotti and chocolate chip cookies. Lori also served Dilly Bars from Dairy Queen. :Yum: Posted Image

It was so much better than staying home, cleaning the house and doing laundry.

G'day peeps, my Tuesday. I had to take Monday to recuperate I think, we were on our feet at the Canberra Zoo on Sunday for 7 hours! You might think Leah too little, but boy does she squeal when she see the animals! It was a lot of fun and the Zoo has expanded (no wonder I was exhausted). Plus the 3 hour drive home. And it was so cold (not used to it! :P -3C)

Sounds like a great party Carole!

Glad you girls got some rain. How fun for your sister and BIL to see Laurel!
We've been watching a bit of the soccer too. Hope is dying for the Socceroos, but you never say never!

Lots to do today at home. pictures later.

Carole, wow, what a party! :88: >O< Music, dancing, singing, delicious food (Dilly bars :Yum: ), good friends, a little one and at least one dog. They might want to make it a summer event other years, too. You are right, much better than staying home and doing the laundry. I'm so glad you had such a fun time, and that Doreen has improved so much.

Kath, no wonder you need to rest today with a walk all over the zoo. I've done that at a couple of zoos so I know what you mean. Leah must have made everyone smile with her reactions to the animals. It's so nice that you and Bob are trying to stay in touch with Leah so that she'll know you both. "Socceroos" :D

I decided to go to the mall today (actually left the house :D ) and did a lot of walking around and a bit of shopping. Robert was watching soccer so it was a good time to go somewhere.

Ozzie - As tiring as the walk at the zoo was, it sounds like all of you enjoyed the zoo with a very excited Leah.
Looking forward to any photos you took. :clk:
