Carole, I'd like to see some pictures of Charlene's yard, too, just like Kath. As long as Charlene doesn't mind of course. Kath, that's such a bright and amusing painting of the "cool cats". How was the night at the opera house? Mia has managed to sprain her right front leg somehow, possibly going down the basement stairs too fast, who knows. Wynn did eat some Caesar meat this morning and so far is not throwing up. I didn't sleep much last night. We are in constant touch with our vet via email. The grocery store was super busy early this morning. The Weight Watchers meeting room is in the grocery super store. I just go once a month to keep my membership and to keep myself from going crazy eating too much. Everyone is getting ready for the Canada Day holiday. Allison offered to bring Laurel over here today since we have to stay home. I told her I'd call her depending on whether or not Wynn was eating. Have a great Friday, everyone. I hung our flag out on the new porch railing with some bunting pennants that I got at the Dollar Store. People don't decorate much on our street for Canada Day but maybe I will start a trend. Most folks go away to their cottages I think.

My walking medal for March and May has arrived. It cost twice as much as the other ones (different company) but I wanted it badly because it was a Monet medal, so I walked for two months to earn it instead of one month. I'll post a picture of my April medal another day. This company sends a little card with a phrase on it, too. It's a gorgeous medal, about the size of my open hand. I've been to Giverny so it's a special one for me.![]() ![]()

Hello Everyone. Again another sporadic check in. Cheryl, my thoughts are with Wynn and that he rebounds from his spell of unwellness. Congrats on your Walking Medal! That's a lot of effort rewarded. About the Squirrel problem: A few years ago we lived in a place with the landlord very close next door. They were rabidly against Grey Squirrels since many Britons consider them the usurpers of the Red Squirrel and it's population, so they kept a trap for Squirrels on the fence between our properties. I looked online to find a non-toxic repellant to keep the Squirrels away from the trap and found "predator urine" deters them so, Ed, being a champion of wildlife, tried collecting his and spreading it on the fence around the trap. We don't know if it saved any Squirrels but it was an interesting experiment. They do sell Fox Urine scented products at the local pet store that's supposed to deter predators, so we thought it worth a try. Those landlords and differences that arose about their responsibilities had us moving within two months but those two old trolls are probably still having Squirrel Stew when they can. Poor Ed has been suffering the worst increase in his Psoriasis recently, aggrivated by the heat wave we've been having. His lower legs look like they've been blasted with a flame thrower knee to ankle! Beet red. And the rest of his body looks like a napalm attack hit him! He couldn't sleep at all last night due to the pain in his legs. California would be much hotter and probably worse for his psoriasis but the past Winter here was hard on both of us and we're in a quandary about what to do. Psoriasis can be fatal when it reaches a certain % of skin surface and Ed seems on the way to that point. It's only his projects that keep hm going. It has been much warmer lately and it's hard to tell which is worse: cold and wet, or hot and humid in this environment. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well, and I'm sorry if I missed anything notable to comment on. I'm kind of stretched to my max at the moment. On top of it all we just had a carpet cleaning this week which seemed to take up most of three days! The Prep, the cleaning day, and the recovery. An interesting development since Mother's Day: Lori's Dad has been emailing me after an initial "mass email" he sent "to all the Mothers he knew". I was on the short list. We've since exchanged a couple of emails but Ed wouldn't "be amused. Carole, Ozzie, Jill, Linda Hellos to you too. Sorry to hear of the passing of KoKo, the Gorilla who had learned Sign Language from infancy, and even taught it to her offspring. She was 56 or 7 think? Documentary films and books followed her amazing story. |

Hello, Kris. I have heard that England has been having a heat wave, too. I hope Ed can find some relief for his psoriasis. It sounds so serious and very painful. Thanks for your tip about our squirrel problem. I'm not sure Robert would go for it but I can always ask. Thank you also for your thoughts for Wynn. Allison did come over with Laurel and that perked both dogs up quite a bit. That was sad news about Koko. I watched a few videos to learn more about her and her beloved kitten. Here's hoping you both get some relief from the heat and that Ed starts to feel better. Strange about Lori's Dad and the email.

G'day Peeps, Sunny Saturday. It was only 8C this morning. Snowy and Leo helped me plant some past season's harvested seeds of what I cant remember. I usually label the bags, but 2 were unmarked. I think one is actually corriander, but not sure. The other seeds are nasturtiums, Amaranthus and Flader's poppies. I just discovered that Amaranth can be harvested and used like a grain. hmmm. Glad Wynn is better Cheryl. Poor Mia! What do you do for her? I LOVE your medal! Actually I like the frame better than the actual photo! Looks art deco! Nice to see you here Kris, despite Ed's health issues. Hope the heat breaks for you both soon. I have to laugh, Britain doesnt know what HEAT is and anything over 85 is a heatwave, lol. I think its great you have contact with Lori's Dad. No reason why not to remain friends. Bob surprised me with a dinner rsvp at 'Aria' overlooking the Quay harbor area. Food was 5* amazing presentation. He is such a romantic! The program was terrific music! There was a singer, Ali McGregor, two tap dancers (for two songs) and a burlesque dancer for two songs. Imogen Kelly is a very creative dancer, her second staging was as a peacock (for L'Oiseau - Bird of Paradise song)! Linda, you would've LOVED it! The program ended with a sing-along of Minnie the Moocher with the conductor doing the singing, we were stunned! The program pamphlet had stories about the Prohibition. Did you know the US govt put STRYCHNINE into products that might make its way into alcohol products to deter this? Eg, Paint Thinner antiseptics, embalming fluid... In one year 11,700 people died (1927) from drinking alcohol contaminated with poison the US govt put into products. One reason why Capone and Kennedy did so well in banned alcohol, they didnt poison their customers!I see that Canada has done a retaliatory Trade Tariff with the USA. Canadians should stock up on ketchup and coffee (on the list!) I love this photographer's work: Rachel Talibart 'Goliath' ![]() |
