Robert and I and the rest of our family thank all of you so very much for your condolences and support on the passing of Robert's father, Howard. We are all very sad but also cherish all the good memories and appreciate Howard's long and healthy life. His health failed him only towards the very end. His funeral was such a nice one, if that makes sense. The minister conducted a very positive service and Robert gave a eulogy, not an easy thing to do but he did well considering. The sun was shining down on us as Howard was buried beside his sweetheart, Vivian. I hope they are together now, along with their son, Bill. Thank you again, everyone. Your support helped very, very much. Little Laurel was there, too, and charmed everyone with her smile. I'm so glad she got to meet Howard earlier, even though she won't remember. He was buried on the day she turned three months old.

Carole, I'm so sorry to have missed your birthday! I send my belated wishes and hopes that it was a good one. :bday:

This week has been so news filled. I was glued to the tv coverage of the Thai Cave rescue through most of the week, especially today, and am so happy they all were rescued safely, except for the Thai Navy Seal who tragically died in the beginning of the rescue. I've heard the coach has blamed himself (with good reason for such an ill advised venture to begin with). I'm sure in the US there'd be lawsuits for his endangerment of the boys, but for now everyone is so relieved that all have escaped with their lives. Such good news in a world that seems to be falling apart with international strife and conflict.

The UK seems to be in a real crisis with Brexit negotiations. Several cabinet members have resigned, including Boris Johnson the Foreign Minister, and Theresa May's PM position may be in question. And Horror of Horrors: Agent Orange is due to arrive this week to have Tea with the Queen! :8O: :hair: There's already a big Baby Trump Macy's style balloon planned to meet him, courtesy of the Mayor of London who he's run afoul with, and masses of protesters waiting to greet him. Americans aren't well liked here, added to by their feelings against DT. :dvl: He'll be within a hundred miles of us! I may need a gas mask to avoid breating his exhalations, depending on wind direction. :P London is not the place to be this week!

Scary that one of the two Brits, who were recently somehow poisoned by the Russian nerve agent Novichok within 30 minutes from us, has now died. :'( She and her partner both rode the same bus we've taken to Salisbury several times. A bus that was sequestered and decontaminated in the search for the object that they apparently contacted that made them so ill. He's still in ICU and can't say what it might have been they picked up that made them so sick. :( Newsflash: As I wrote this Charley Rowley, the man who was also somehow poisoned by contacting the nerve agent, has today just regained consciousness which hopefully may shed more light on the situation, and what object they contacted, when he can. They have to find what it was to be sure the public isn't still in danger.

Cheryl, love your Coos Day pis.

Hellos to Ozzie, Jill & Linda. too. :}^

Cheryl - Love your Coos tushes rofl

Kudos to Robert to do the eulogy and so happy that Laurel was there to bring her smiles to everyone at this difficult time. It's wonderful that Howard had the opportunity to meet Laurel before his passing.

Kris - This whole Novichok nerve agent situation is horrifying :8O: I hope that the survivor lives to tell where he was so that the contaminated area can be sealed off and taken care of. Until this is solved, stay close to home and be wary of public transport.

London must be in a tempest with the visit of POTUS. He's getting worse and worse with his tweets and comments, I personally think he is demented!

G'day Peeps my sunny and cold Wednesday, it was 4C this morning outside! Snowy had an exciting time in the back yard this morning watching 3 male Bush Turkeys vying for a nest heap next door. They were flapping (cant really call it flying) from tree to tree and onto the lawn then back up again all the while making grunting noises. Now Snowy wouldnt hear the noise, but Leo did and it SCARED HIM! :o He ran off to the pool area to observe from there, poor guy! One finally chased off the other two. I looked over the back yard fence (our south side) the other day. Someone has done some yard work in this over grown dilapidated house, raking all the debris along the eastern fence to the North/East corner (so right outside my southern fence line) making a 4' high pile of leaves, bark and grass cuttings. A perfect Bush Turkey nest! No wonder they are fighting over it! I'll be keeping my eye on it for sure.

I usually take Snowy out for an hour or so in the garden first thing in the morning. He inspects the back yard first, then we head to the front yard. I too inspect all my plants. LoL. Anyway, I was watering my poppy seedlings this morning and noticed a private Driver Education car pull up across the road. The dude got out, opened the back and then dumped some rubbish onto the street. I took a video of him driving off leaving the rubbish and then crossed the road to pick it up because our street gutter empties straight into the creek which leads to the harbor. The plastic bottle left behind had the company label on it! So there is a facility here to report dumping/littering. I am going to report him!

Carole, I full agree with your sentiments. Bob said something that really hit me yesterday. He says that Trump is slowly "dismantling the USA's world power base by denigrating NATO and the UN." The USA is heading for isolationism and will no longer be viewed as a world power in terms of diplomatic astuteness. I feel terrible about what is happening in the US. Dont people see that he is doing this? Where is the GOP to reign in his abuse of the emoluments clause and insidious nepotism? Oh yeah, they are too busy releasing hypocritical statements (SC nominee, family first/pro Life when they cant even save children from being separated from parents). It hurts my heart.

Cheryl, the memorial service sounds lovely, yes, it wouldve been very hard for Robert's eulogy. To be remembered in such a special way.

Kris, I read today that US citizens should keep a low profile during Trump's UK visit.  :8O:
