The cycle of the bald eagles ....... The biologists spend many days searching out juveniles, adults, pairs and hopefully, the nests! They spend many hours hiking the rugged terrain, climbing trees, observing from kayaks and planes and sitting for extremely extended periods of time in blinds. ![]() The area is vast and difficult at best for the humans who follow on foot where the eagles soar! ![]() But they do come - one by one - again and again! A few at first, then more - with the hope of the future resting on their broad wings. Cameras are placed nearby to help with observations. Otherwise, the IWS team must carefully monitor the nesting activities. The nests are built one stick at a time, fluff tucked into the gaps, and the pair bring us a hope. ![]() The eggs arrive and the countdown begins - an agonizingly long wait! But the reward is beyond belief - the next generation of bald eagles for the Channel Islands! The juveniles are banded so that we know of their life journey. And soon they soar. ![]() And together they begin their wandering, one day to return home and start the cycle anew. The end of one season is just the beginning of the next ....... ![]() click on the sun to see how you can support the bald eagles

I just love those baby chicks, so sweet and fluffy. Our kids are like teenagers on the Islands. Thanks for always posting the cutest pics. Unfortunately, I can't post pics nor see video here at work.
