Good morning Cruzers. Thought I would share this over here to:
Carole, I'm adding to you're picture of "my beautiful Loon". Hatching time is getting closer. Adding from Larry's mnbound.com blog for the day: "It has now been almost 3 weeks of sitting on the eggs hour after hour. Day after day. Week after week. But now the loons are in the home stretch. In only a little over a week, the eggs should hatch. And if all has gone well, there should be two little black downy loon chicks! One can only begin to imagine that wonder of what is going on inside those eggs. The majesty of creation of new life. Of something out of nothing. Things that are so far beyond our understanding and comprehension. Oh. we know some of the "mechanics" of it. But how does it all work? We don't begin to have a clue. But in another week or so, we will hopefully see the results of that miracle before our eyes!" |

- off to work in a few minutes - just wanted to say what a sweet story and photo presentation of Tachi, Carole - it's like a little book about her - she ran out of her enclosure when we were there, hoping to see Dr. Sharpe I believe - was sorry to disappoint the little creature - she's like a little dog and cat mixed together - wonderful presentation, Carole (I like the colours, too)- looking forward to seeing the little loons, Laurie |

Latest Medical Update on BuddyUPDATE: May 14, 2009 by Dr. Dave McRuer, Director of Veterinary Medicine at the Wildlife Center of Virginia Patient #08-887 was examined today, and the deviation between the top and bottom beaks was starting to become larger. The decision was made to cope (trim) the beak before problems in eating occurred. The Bald Eagle was brought into the clinic and anesthetized with Sevoflurane (no problems). Approximately 3 mm was shaved from the left side of the tip of the beak and the right side of the upper beak at the tip. The marks placed on the upper beak some weeks ago to assess growth were all fairly uniform (as has been true in past observations), yet the beak deviation continues. and one of the eaglets from the Norfolk nest is going to be fitted with a GPS unit tomorrow.... ![]() |

Topa, I'm in love with Dawson He's absolutely beautiful. Can't wait for more pictures of him. Carole, GMTA, I love reading Larry's blog everyday. He is a fantastic writer, his descriptions of the mornings, evenings and what's going on around the Loons, I feel as if I'm there seeing it myself. I just got back from lunch. It's beautiful out. Love that sunshine. |

Laurie - The weather here is beautiful and sunny too. I had to go out to do some errands and it was about 68 degrees. Supposed to be much warmer tomorrow, around 78. I love spring and watching all the trees bud and bloom. |
