as per Dr. Sharpe: "Everyone who has contributed at least $25 will also receive an adoption certificate and photo of the chick(s) from the nest of their choice next season. " |

and the rest of the message: Banding is underway at the bald eagle nests on Catalina. The Seal Rocks chick was banded yesterday and we will be visiting the Two Harbors nest tomorrow (Friday) to band the chicks, clean the lens, and hopefully fix the microphone. We should arrive at the nest between 11 am and 1 pm. Now that we have switched to WildEarth as the streaming video provider, there should be less of a chance of the video feed being disrupted. We will be video taping the event, just in case. Next week/weekend we will band the Twin Rocks and Pinnacle Rock chicks, and we will be banding the West End chicks on June 5th. We are now a little over halfway through the annual Nest Adoption Challenge. So far, the Cruzers have adopted four nests for next season, which means four invitations will be given to contributors to come visit us on Catalina and see some of the work we do. The money raised during the Challenge and throughout the year is used to upgrade and increase the number of live nests online. We will work hard in the off-season to try to get cameras on the nests that have been moved in recent years. We will be sending out the adoption certificates and photos from last year's Challenge in the next few weeks as we get our first good photos of the chicks. (you should have received the above as an EM if you are a registered member of the forum - I've copied here for those who need to register to stay informed!)

Hi everyone I am so excited, I purchased the eagle pendant a few minutes ago thru Pay Pal, so looking forward to receiving it. I also requested my purchase/donation be directed to the 2009 Nest Adoption Challenge, hope I did it right and it works. Is there anyway of knowing if it was or not? Either way it is a donation to IWS with all the love and respect for their dedication and accomplishments in the past, present and future. I am also really looking forward to the banding event tomorrow, hope I don't miss it. Barb Dedicated Eagle Watcher |

I just found an article about Twitter. The Tweeters have fell in love with a cat named Socks. http://my.earthlink.net/article/top?guid=20090521/4a14d1c0_3ca6_1552620090521-1224644177 My question - is anyone currently active on Twitter?? We could do the same thing for our eagles as they did for Socks! And lots and lots and lots of folks would learn about eagles. We could possibly get many more members and support. We have a gem of a resource at our disposal. Anyone have an opinion ? ? ? This could be an eagle "outreach". |

Thank you Topa and Harpo. I will wear it with pride. I know it will take some time to get here and will be racing to the mailbox everyday. I would also like to thank IWS for all that they do and allowing us to watch the Eagles in action. Although the PH nest is my favourite I watch all them in awe and amazement through heart breaking tragic times to very happy, successful and joyous ones. These birds are amazing. I am following 6 nests this year, PH, TH, WE and the Hornby, Sidney and Delta in B. C. Canada. Sometimes all at the same time. Don't want to miss anything. Makes for some very interesting eagle watching. So I guess you could say I am an Eagleholic. Looking forward to banding tomorrow. Thanks again. Barb Edmonton, Alberta, Canada |
