![]() ![]() ![]() THANK YOU DR. SHARPE AND IWS FOR LETTING US DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY! ![]() ![]() ![]() PROGRESS IS BEING MADE. THIS YEAR ALL FIVE NESTS IN CATALINA HATCHED THEIR CHICKS NATURALLY. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS EFFORT TO RESTORE THE BALD EAGLE TO THE CHANNEL ISLANDS THROUGH YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION TO IWS. Just a gentle reminder that forum protocols do not permit us to discuss the Fundraiser in the CHIL forum. We would be happy to answer any questions here in the IWS forum. |

Eaglepedia Revisited May 25, 2008 Chicks take their first flights between 10-12 weeks of age. The first flights are usually short, to a nearby tree or cliff face. Sometimes they land on the ground where they may stay for a day or until they gain enough strenth to fly up into a tree. Once eaglets leave the nest, they usually don't return to use the nest as "home". The parents may bring food to the nest for a period of time, using it as a feeding station. The young leave the nest when the timing is right. (NOTE: in 2007, Limuw was fed at the nest often after he fledged - most of the chicks we are watching will be turning 8 weeks old next week - time is flying )"Majestic Eagles" 12 week old chick w/parent - branching chick - one has fledged/the other not quite Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

Hey Deb, I have a question. I sponsored the PH cam a couple of weeks ago. Can I still contact Dr. Sharpe and ask him to put that donation towards the nest adoption??? I didn't really want anything for my donation, but now that I've seen that eagle plate I'd like my name to be put in the drawing for it. |

Laurie, I know the answer to your question. Yes, you can contact Dr. Sharpe and let him know that. This message is on the cam page. Thank you to the 57 donors who have contributed so far (many multiple times). You have adopted 8 nests for the 2010 Nesting Season. If you have contributed to IWS in the past month and did not specify that you would like your donation to go towards the Nest Adoption Challenge, please email Dr. Sharpe at sharpe@iws.org to let him know that you would like it counted. Go for it! I hope you win that pretty plate! |
