Some Photos from Karen (KLJinUSA)

Rusty and I decided to go on a hike Sunday. We consulted our Ventura County Hike Guidebook and decided to go to the remote Rose Valley off Hwy 33 above Ojai (between Wheeler Gorge and Pine Mountain), almost an hour drive from my house. The mountains in the greater Ojai Valley had rain the previous week, so we were looking for waterfalls, running streams and wild flowers. We were not disappointed. We hiked 6 miles all together and went through different eco-systems, from columbine & ferns to cactus.

The downside was I picked up a tick that burrowed in the back of my neck, which I didn't discover until after a shower that evening. Fortunately, Rusty was able to remove it intact (and still alive!) so I shouldn't get Lyme Disease. We had to deal with deer flies as well, they wanted to drink from our eyes and go up our nose. And a few mozzies.

I do know that I'm teaching Grade Two but I won't have any idea what the plans for the day are until I get there. Just really hoping it's not a trip.

Karen, very pretty flower, waterfall and stream pictures. Completely different from what we have here. Thanks for sharing them, Kathy. I'm glad Karen noticed and got the tick out.

I'm going to have to ask Jann for a graphics lesson on how to make the background clear instead of white for graphics on this forum. Jann is my mentor. The bracelet would have looked better that way. Just trying something new. <3 <3

Beautiful hike Karen, thanks for posting Ozzie.

Ozzie the metal bald eagle will be hung on the outside of the

coop, more a decoration for me than the birds.

CDN, I love your graphics.

What a smart idea to take classes and have Jann mentor you.

Thanks for taking us along on your hike Karen and Rusty. The waterfalls and streams looked so cool and inviting. Beautiful. What were all the masses of little orange things...ladybugs?

Glad you found the tick and were able to remove it intact. :ok:
