Antenna Girl Azalea finally made the mighty leap this AM ![]() ![]() from Reese Lukei: AZALEA (HH) has fledged at 6:51 this morning. After jumping from branch to branch to the nest to the far end of the right branch she flew off to the right toward the last year's nest tree. Her brother - HK - flew off in that direction about 6:00. I am off the NBG to see if I can locate her. |

You can support the Eagle Project with a donation designated for the Eagle Aviary on Catalina Island - home of Pimu and Heidi - there are two levels of participation $100 and $250 - a plaque with your name or designated honoree will be placed on the wall - there's still lots of room.....![]() for more information - contact Dr. Sharpe at Sharpe@Iws.org AND thru 6/15 - it can be designated to the 2009 Nest Adoption Challenge |

We were cheering for the Penquins last night too. I'm always hoping for the underdogs. Chicago players are more Canadian in their style of play though. What the hey...the Pittsburg team is half Canadian anyway I think it was an amazing come back story for the Penquins and to win it in Detroit....great payback for last year's final when they lost it at home to the Red Wings. Did anyone say Partay!!!!

Cheryl - I've been meaning to bring this to your attention because Brynn is a whippet. It was on the National News with Lloyd Robertson this past week and I thought it was such a good idea. "A Walk With the Whippets" (there is a commercial first) http://watch.ctv.ca/news/top-picks/walking-with-whippets/#clip180652 |

Carole - LOVE the phone press 1 ..... Gary had a whippet when he was growing up - he always remembers how fast he could run when he got loose ......and guess what his name was "Whippet" - and he laughs at me calling the birds #5 and #6 |

Deb, did you take that garibaldi photo? He looks like he's concerned that an eagle might catch him! Carole, your telephone post is so creative. You could be an advertising agent! Thanks for posting the "Walk with Whippets"! Those whippets were very calm with the children. I loved watching them all walk together - they have a unique gait. Whippets do like people, and they need lots of exercise, so it is a perfect idea. When Brynn was younger the only thing that could get him calmed down was taking him for a long walk. Otherwise he would tear through the house, not a good idea.Mainly with the Penguins team it was the appeal of Sidney Crosby for DH and DS. They were disappointed when the Canadian teams kept getting eliminated one by one. DS has a huge cardboard cut-out of Crosby in the basement, got it at the grocery store where he used to work while he was in school. Carole, Thunder and Lightning were doing a really good job with their body checking, cute video! Will have to show it to DH. |

Way to go, Azalea! Bon voyage as you set off, stay safe. Thanks for the video, Penny. I liked the way she bobbed her neck and looked about, working up her nerve to take off. |

Thanks Michele, Deb & Cheryl. Don't you just hate it when you dial a number and can't talk to a person, I get so frustrated, I just press "O" and sometimes I actually get a real live person on the phone. I didn't know that whippets were highstrung and needed lots of exercise. When in Florida, the big thing is going to the dog races, which I ban with a passion. I hate it that they race these beautiful greyhounds and then just bring them to a rescue shelter when they are no longer winning. When we used to go to Pet Smart for dog treats, they would always have about 5 or 6 greyhounds lying at the entrance asking to be adopted. It just broke my heart. They were the sweetest, most gentle dogs and if I could, I would have adopted one on sight. The thing I learned was that even though this dog loves to run, it is basically a couch potato. It needs one good walk a day and that's it, it loves the sofa and just hanging out with a family. |
